Build in NDs.. the DGO sensor, 2x mini XLR + Jack in on the body and not a handle or extra dock of any king. The C-log 2 and XF-AVC for small projects when you dont want to bother with the RAW workflow. Auto focus is okay on the C70 and it helps a lot but only when you are alone on a shoot with two cameras.

I think the file size would be the biggest drawback of getting Red. I think even the clients wouldn’t be able to tell the difference of quality between c70 and red, but it’s 10 times more storage! Anyway, love your video! I watched many of your videos about C70, and I finally get one! Really enjoy using it!

Your video was the first video in the “I quit” KZbin craze a few months back lol. We know this even if most don’t… yet. But welcome back, I enjoyed your videos. Went with the S5iix after hands on with c70 and r5c. I just couldn’t justify the extra cost for the r5c or going back to speed boosters with the c70 vs the simplicity and codecs of the S5ii x. My only regret is that the l mount ecosystem is frustratingly young. Bit got what I needed and can’t imagine dealing with any other camera.

Man, I appreciate the transparency you bring to the community! C70 over here, but I heavily depend on that AF for fashion shoots, so I cannot switch to a RED. C400 is tempting... but I will wait for the first image quality comparisons. Thanks buddy!

I rely on the KX’s AF all the time but the key is with EF lenses. The AF was faster to acquire on the RF lenses but I also got the pulsing. The EF are slower to acquire, but once locked on they are far better at holding focus. I sold all of my RF glass and bought into the Sigma EF Art lenses for this reason. Now they are louder but with mic placement it’s a non issue.

My Crystal Ball says you will go back to Canon with the C400. Multiple C400's. I ordered mine. Gonna part with one of my C70's and the R5c. Maybe in time sell the other C70 and go full C400 and keep a mirrorless for stills. So, 2 C400's are in your future. Mark my words. NOTHING worse than the disappointment of slightly out of focus video. Especially if you didn't catch it on set.

I don't use the cameras professionally, but agree with all your points. Had the C70 then got s35 V Raptor. Love the image from the camera and red code raw. Hate the file size, weight, and rigging needed. Love the camera though. What the C70 can deliver in the those small size is amazing. So also interested to see the c400.

Quick question- do you miss using a two-camera setup? Do you get projects where you need a cam B? I have an FX6 and FX3 package for most corporate work, but I'm still looking for a cheap way to match the Komodo-X if I ever need to.

If I were to do more multi camera shoots I would 100% want a dual cam setup again. As of right now my first AC has a Komodo so I can just rent it with him for a shoot. As for these one camera shoots I found that a good zoom lens really goes a long way...

Hey Damian, I saw the new video notification and title, and I knew I wanted to check it out. As a RED DSMC2 Dragon 6K owner, as well as a C70 and R5C owner, I am considering upgrading something. Like you, I still do more commercial gigs, and whenever I can, I always use my C70 over the RED for the same reasons you expressed. I use the RED for other types of content like wildlife documentaries, but the weight and necessary accessories put the whole system in a place where the only reason to use it is for R3D. This got me thinking if I might need something like the Komodo or Komodo X. I’m glad I watched the video until the end because you mentioned something about the new C400, which got me very curious. I saw your other videos about it, but in my opinion, the C400 seems inferior to the C70 in terms of sensor specs not resolution, i do see a advantage when it comes to the actual body. Like I said, I watched your previous video about the C400, but I’m curious to hear your thoughts from a technical perspective and also how you would fit it into your workflow, which is very similar to mine.

What's with the unreliable AF on the Red Komodo? According to their website the camera has phase detect AND contrast AF. Usually a phase detect system knows exactly where the focus point is. So I wonder... Is phase detect used to get in the ballpark followed by contrast detect AF for precision focusing? That would explain the camera's behavior but why would you do it that way when you have phase detect? Hearing of these micro-jitter is actually a bit frustration because most reviewers say that the Komodo's AF is solid... I cannot wait to finally have widespread adoption of ProRes RAW, with a solid technical implementation, and cameras recording it internally. Just the hardware acceleration alone would make it such a great proposition compared to REDCODE. 🤩

What do u mean once locked on ? You mean u turn on continuous auto focus then once in focus you switch to manual to lock on ? Because with moving shots the continuous auto focus and the rf glass works better on c70 in my opinion

@@creativegreatsvisuals No I don't mean that. I mean once the box finds your face it's more sticky than with RF lenses. And Damien is talking about the AF of the KX not the C70 in this case.
