On March 22, 1865, 22,000 Union troops massed in Gravelly Springs just west of Waterloo. Alabama. It was the largest Cavalry force ever assembled in the western hemisphere, Commanded by Major General James Harrison Wilson, headquartered at Wildwood Plantation, the home of Alabama Senator and Governor George Houston. This Army crossed the Tennessee River at Waterloo to invade South Alabama and Georgia with the objective of capturing the town of Selma Alabama....just think of the historical value that Selma holds, exactly 100 years later, in 1965, Dr Martin Luther King marched in Selma Alabama in the Civil Rights movement....Ya'll have fun and stay safe!!!

Since we nave been on the road I have been more interested in history than ever before. We finally have the time to visit some historic areas and read the history in the place it happened.
