This felt way too much of a skill and power discrepancy. It could have ended badly. I was thinking, especially from the 2nd round, throw the towel in! There was no way Marie was going to win, and she could get very badly damaged. Health is precious.

Meksen didn’t go all out in the 3rd. She could have done way more damage and ended the fight, but didn’t, which shows character. Marie did the right thing and just survived to the end, not an easy task at all, that because Meksen still went hard. Respect to both fighters!

Marie is good and very brave, but this fight against a seven-time world champion was far too early in her career. She is not that far yet, she needs more speed and more strength in her arms. She is not lacking in technique and she is not lacking in courag and she can take a beating, but she still lacks power and speed. This fight was far too early and irresponsible of her manager!

Plus, they're not going to give anyone a top 3 opponent for their first fight in the organization, not even for someone as accomplished and decorated as Meksen. Fight a couple 'warm-up' fights and then the inevitable title shots. ONE signed her for good reasons, but they can't just give the strap to her on a silver platter first time out.

@@DougDenovitz No she needs a better coach. Who would tell her. Whenever someone is trying to apply pressure on you. You need to discourage your opponent with something devastating each time your opponent applies pressure. She needs to intercept her opponent attack with faints and counters to keep her opponent at bay Her coach should tell her you know what a punch feels like and you know what a kick feels like. Don't be afraid to fight on the inside. Your opponent notices distance is your weakness. Maybe fighting on the inside is your opponent's weakness. If your coach can't mix it up like that. It's not your fault it's your coach's fault.
