Love the joyful music, almost makes go too quickly. Lovely place you visit on the way. I just love your dogs to bits, especially, Hamish, poor old boy, pick him up sometimes for a view of what he's missing. Poppy is so adorable, perhaps I just love lady dogs as that is what we have had!
@onedaymoreaboard3 ай бұрын
So good to hear that you’re enjoying the videos Nigel! Hamish really does prefer it down on the floor on his bed now. It seems to stress him out when we put him up on the seat to enjoy the view. He stands like a statue, won’t sit or lie down, and then starts pawing at the cushion to get put down again. We have speculated that he likes the slight vibration of the engine floor perhaps and finds it soothing? Who knows, but he’s sleeping lots through our cruises these days, but seems happy still. Poppy is our first girl dog, and she’s so different from the boys! Such westietude, and a bit of a diva if anyone dares show more attention to Hamish than her 😂❤️

@@onedaymoreaboard Lady dogs know their value and are more discerning than the boys. They have that they know their value in life for them and us. I would be inclined to work on Hamish a bit more but perhaps that's because I feel for him so much!

There was something oddly heartbreaking about Poppy's reaction to losing that ball. Tell Phil that he has beautiful eyes. Speaking of haloumi, a favorite summer salad: tomatoes, watermelon and haloumi with a vinaigrette and mint. Super fresh. Hope Cornwall was wonderful. Leigh

She really loves playing with a ball Leigh, and she will pull you in with those puppy eyes for sure! The video didn’t quite show how low the water was for me to be able to reach down to get the ball and she was so insistent wasn’t she 😂. That salad sounds so similar to one I used to love at Tiny Boxwoods in Houston. Have you been there? I’m going to recreate it! Thanks for watching and your lovely comments as always 😊

Thanks Susan! Conwall was a lovely break, enjoying time with our family, and the views were spectacular. It’s such a lovely part of the country, just a long drive to get there! Pete’s leg looks far worse than it is now. He scraped it going down between the boat and the Armco and it’s left that long scar, but doesn’t hurt anymore. Hi. The frosting is so easy. It’s 300g unsalted butter, 150g icing sugar/confectioners sugar, 1 teaspoons of instant coffee mixed with a tiny bit of warm water to form a paste. Simply blend all the ingredients together to make the frosting.

Oh no! And they are perfectly located for dog owners with beautiful walks all around! Our boys were never bothered about balls at all really. Jasper would just stare when you throw one for him and then perhaps slowly walk towards it. But then Poppy came along and he would run to get to it first to steal it off her! He was so funny! Poppy, as you can see, is truly obsessed and knows where they are kept up on the back deck and gets so excited when that storage locker lid is raised 😂

We had Scruffy first (she’s a girl, our son had wanted this name if we got a boy but we could only get a girl at the time.) and as a pup we chased her when she had the ball, she would hop and jump like a lamb, it’s do adorable. Luna loves the ball being thrown and barks until we get the ball thrower out. She is very loud. So all have their little characters. 😊

@onedaymoreaboard3 ай бұрын
Good question, and it’s made me look at the map we have on our bathroom wall! We’ve probably only done about a half of the network so far, if that! We still haven’t done the south section of the Grand Union Canal into London, or any of the River Thames, nor the Kennet & Avon or the Leeds & Liverpool. Or around Birmingham. We keep repeating favourites to enjoy them all over again. But we will explore more for sure 😊

We love watching your vlogs but the sound is all over the place. Please consider some better microphones.
@onedaymoreaboard3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback Stephen. Audio levels have been the hardest thing to get right in this very steep learning curve producing vlogs. We do the best with the equipment we have available, but can't afford truly professional quality microphones especially, which are so expensive. We invested in an external mic (Rode, which is a quality brand) for my iPhone with a wind muff, and I was actually using that for this video as it was a very windy day. I did a sound check on the day and it seemed fine when I played it back on my phone, however when the clips were dropped into the editing project, the audio levels were so low, that even when pushed up to the maximum possible it was still really quiet, hence my addition of subtitles, and an apology about the poor audio quality on this video. We now have lapel mics and are getting to grips with using them (not as straightforward as we had imagined) which you will hopefully see the benefit of in a few weeks. Sorry for the lengthy response, but at the end of the day we are amateurs in the filming and editing game, all self taught, using basic equipment, and trying to deal with often windy conditions, engine noise, and people at varying distances to the mic source. We would love to be more polished, but having been filmed for the Channel 4 Narrow Escapes programme and seeing the equipment they use for their outside filming, we are never going to be TV quality. I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of our videos too much, and thanks for watching 😊
@stephenrussell-clark83293 ай бұрын
@@onedaymoreaboard Thank you for taking so much trouble in replying. That is much appreciated. I think the lapel mikes will help a lot. My wife and I live near Brisbane but had a holiday cottage near Foxton in 2016 and although only Gongoozlers we love the canals. In 2019 we stayed near Llangollen and travelled across that incredible aqueduct. I think if we had our time over again we would be spending a few years at least on a narrowboat. Thank you again for the wonderful vlogs.
