My 25 year old was the DAILY naughty call kid starting in Kindergarten His entire school career was difficult. I wish, wish, wish you would’ve been his teacher. It makes a difference. My heart hurt everyday. When the number showed up on Caller ID....I would just start crying. It was never a Love Call. You are AWESOME!

You are a breath of fresh air. I have been teaching for 3 decades. I am moving to a new district that is more structured . They are stressing that loving discipline for students . Some have experience genuine trauma . You are such a blessing to the educational community. Thank you so much. I love love love the love calls.

I’m a second year teacher and I did this! I gave a love call while my principal was observing me for my full observation. She gave me a shout out at the staff meeting. She loves it! I give love calls every single day! The smile on my kiddos and the smiles through the phone, from my parents, is priceless. This has created such a positive classroom culture. I will do this every year!!

Love love calls!!! I first thought it was just you calling home with a positive report but you took it to that next level! I would absolutely LOVE if my kiddo got to call me in the middle of the day, and I know how much it would impact them as well!! All elementary teachers should do this!! Especially those that don't think the parents are involved! I think it's part of our job to help them get involved and what a excellent way to do it!!! All through positivity and love!! PERFECT!! 🙌🏽
@OneFABTeacher7 жыл бұрын
Reynold's that's why I LOVE doing them, because I know you parents would LOVE that. I believe all elementary teachers should definitely do this. I agree it's part of our job to get them involved. Positivity and love is the key!! ((HUGS)) friend

This is such a sweet idea! I call them "sunshine calls" but I don't do them nearly as often as I should. I like the idea of having the child speak with their parent telling what great thing they did. 😄👍 Yes, it's a great idea to build a good rapport with with parents and students.

Miss May, I love the titles that you give to your strategies. Each new video makes me realize that I am not alone in my approach and it is refreshing. I send "Greatness Notes" home in addition to making phone calls (never called them love calls though :) I usually get my notes translated (for my ELLs) and parents get to respond and I display the greatness notes. You should check out the Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA) by Howard Glasser. A lot of what you is a lot like NHA. I have been using it in my classrooms for several years.

Hello Ms.May, how often do you do love calls? Weekly per child? Once a month?
@vjules61357 жыл бұрын
Hey Ms. May! I LOVE this idea!I know as a parent I would have loved to have received a love call about one of my babies! This might be a silly question (remember I'm new to all of this) but once parents get your cell phone number, do they ever use your number instead of school email or dojo? I guess I worry about getting late night calls from parents.
@OneFABTeacher7 жыл бұрын
Awwww...This is why I do them, because it's a FAB way to connect to parents. I'll be honest I'm fine with parents having my phone number. I've never had an issue with parents being disrespectful with time. I use REMIND text so much that we talk so much through that, parents hardly ever used my cell number. REMIND is an excellent service to connect with parents. ((HUGS))

I’m a new subscriber! I’ve been teaching for a few years, but I feel like things are getting old and I just need some new ideas, and I found you! I would like to try doing love calls, but I just have a few questions. Do you use the school phone or your cell phone? Can you call numbers with a different area code with your school phone? Or do you use your cell phone without showing your number? Thanks for your ideas!
@OneFABTeacher6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for subscribing! I use my own cell phone. Only because we don't have phones in our classrooms. I just call with my number. I don't care. I've never had a parent abuse it before. I would definitely do what your comfortable with though. Happy love calling! ((Hugs))
