Good comparison between two technologies. I've always rely on Asus router because of active firmware updates and features they provide to their routers. Other mesh manufacturers doesn't have the same path as Asus does which is unfortunate for enthusiastic network engineers.

@@Behfor It really did! I am set on Aimesh now. I have a TP link VDSL 2+ router and an ASUS Wifi router neither of which support onemesh or aimesh so I was considering either. I am going to buy two new ASUS wifi routers but which ones? Leaning towards the ASUS RT-AC68U however i know it's quite old. Do you know if there is a better option currently one that is more future proofed with a similar bang for buck?

Funny thing is, all the arguments you've used with One mesh you can set up AI mesh the exact same way. I've got an inexpensive repeater in my Asus Aimesh home network added as a node, but with the added benefit of being connected by ethernet.

Hmm i have to think about my future setup again. I am a TP Link fan. Just because i had a C7 router many years ago. The newer model (ver5) are still cheap on the second hand market (€25). I have a barn at 10 meters distance. A OneMesh repeater is out of the good wifi zone. I tried it. So now i was hoping to buy more C7 routers and set it up as a oneMesh Access Point. There is an lan cable in the barn. But that is not possible i see in your video. Well i think i will say goodby to Tp Link and say hello to Asus. I am not a heavy internet user, but just want good coverage in my house and garden.

Since I wasn't able to be lazy and just use the radios to make the connection now I have awesome coverage EVERYWHERE!!!... Plus one of the 3200's 5G radios is reserved for adult use only so no clogged radio ever.

I have AC68u router at kitchen and is connect with AP RE450 via lan at 3rd bedroom which has 20cm concrete walls, also other lan from router to hub switch in 2nd bedroom. The ssid is different of 2 devices. As AP don't have mesh mode. So wondering which router to buy AX86u or AX88u?? As have 3 smart tv, 4 pc, console & network printer. Even mobile phones to wifi.. On router says 18 devices connected..

I currently have an Ubiquity Amplifi HD as my main router connected to fibre and managing my wired connections. I plan on connecting a Onemesh router (Archer AX5400) to the HD's LAN port to set up a secondary WIFI mesh system with RE500x extenders connected to the Archer. I know you can't have two Onemesh routers in the mesh system, which is fine, but will my idea still work since I absolutely love the HD and still require it to manage some of the impossible to change smart devices (such as my solar inverter which required the installer to delete and rebuild the back end to change the access point - yes I know what you're thinking)?

One thing not really covered in this comparison but probably really important to many viewers: TP link products are really easy and intuitive to use. The UI for the app or website is very easy to understand and clean. Asus is still usable, but a nightmare compared to TP Link. Asus does have the best hardware all around, but quite often at a high premium to its competitors and more difficult to use. TP link trails behind Asus slightly, but offers better value for money. Would only recommend Asus for those who absolutely need the best speed and are willing to navigate its more challenging UI

ASUS performance seems overkill. Very few people actually need what's offered. It's like putting 64gb of ram into your computer just to play minecraft.

Hi gang, ill be moving to my new place soon and i am unable to use LAN cable as it will make the place look ugly as ill have to route a long LAN cable to my room. Im currently on a plan which is 500mbps and is using a 2in1 modem huawei modem router. What solution that you guys would recommend for me to achieve a full 500mbps via my computer's wifi 6 antenna? my apartment is only less than 800+ sqft and the modem will be located in the hall. My room is just 1 wall away so it isnt that far away. So far currently tested with the room door close , i get up to 200mbps+ on my mobile phone. I wanted to go the mesh route but i heard that the 2nd node will only provide me half the speed which probably might be 250mbps, and i wanna achieve full speed. Would you recommend the mesh route, or 1 router that is strong enough to cover the whole 800+ sqft and ill still be able to get stable 500mbps , or is there any other way?

Good day, just want to ask how does the onemesh network work when paired with powerlines? do the powerline adapter be in the wireless range of main router or not and can rely on powerline data transfer?
@marianne92212 жыл бұрын
I just got a wpa8631p powerline one mesh adapter. From personal experience, the one mesh is even stronger as its supported from the powerline directly instead of through a wireless repeater that most meshes often operate on, so you dont have to put the devices in overlapping coverage areas to built the wifi network

I found that there are issues with AiMesh system. I have the latest firmware installed, but the mesh is still unstable. I have had to reset the entire mesh 6 times in the last 5 months and the Mesh is not resilient to changes in the configuration e.g. Addition of new hardware. It takes some time (sometime 1/2 a day) for the system to reconfigure itself e.g. moving from wireless to wired backhaul and adding a NAS. It doesn't lend itself well to a mix of older and newer yet fully compatible AiMesh router as nodes. It has already kicked out one of my older AiMesh router. It doesn't automatically connect a mobile device to the nearest and most powerful router even it is bound. You have to prod it to reconnect Agreed it far easier to set up compared to other mesh.

@@allenperera6158 As a main router, I had an Asus GT-AC5300 which was later changed to RT-AC88U with RT-AX3000 and 2x RT-AX55 as satellites all connected using Cat 8. Still has instability issues and should the ISP connection drop, the main router needs to be reset in order reconnect. Both the AX3000 and AX55 needed to be factory reset and setup up again for them to work. All firmware are the latest. I have 3 floors and a large home. I don't expect this from Asus. Initially I thot it was due to a non WiFi6 main and WiFi6 satellite mix. Now with all WiFi-6, I'm still having instability and reconnection issues. I certainly do not suspect the machines. I setup an Asus AiMesh when it was first released. I had the GT-AC53000 main and an AC59U with the older Mesh and don't have such issues
