Rugby strongman Carl Hayman was an impact player who once dominated the game. A tighthead prop who wore the All Black jersey 46 times and was once the highest paid rugby player in the world.
Now, at the age of 43 he’s been diagnosed with early onset dementia and probable CTE, a degenerative brain disease linked to repeated head knocks.
Sunday’s Mark Crysell talks to the former prop about his struggle to cope with the toughest challenge of his life.
