@@the2ndcoming135 was never sure, but was always amused with the idea that the most evil force in the world has programmed us to find it in the most beautiful, affecting art. this is the first time considering that oneohtrix might be representing such an evil, even detected in some of the notes arranged, the emotions, the things..now i am interested in the videos, and sure enough, what i somehow suspected seems to be revealed. the black goo, the halftime show with weakened, the negative spaces containing symbols, the obvious devil here and on the cover of another release, the owl, the supposition of cultish music by previous release, the audio bath he is capable of - and even the reference of black snow, like the graphene everywhere, which will connect the flesh to the ayyy eye

Whether you like Daniel's new stuff or not, I gotta admit the song hits the right beats for me, and the video is a good mixture of fun and weirdness with some nice cinematography. Of course, the whole album isn't going to be just OPN's twist on pop music, and naturally people will be upset that he didn't just stick with droning plunderphonics stuff like in Replica and Returnal, and as much as I love those albums, I think it's great that his work is evolving and branching out and experimenting with different types of music that are more easily accessable and not obscure and niche. If Daniel is happy and finding success with his new work, then I'm happy for him. No matter how much he's changed, he's still a game-changing artist that has had an absolutely massive effect on music and art. R+7 and Garden of Delete turned out to be my favorite albums of their respective years, and if Age Of continues being weird and unique and diverse then I think this'll be my favorite thing to come from this year.

is super fascinating to me, that those original albums seem to wake up the ear, open you up, so to say, so that he can now start to really supplant his intentions, so to speak, make you somewhat malleable to the suggestions, the art, this fashion, and angle of beauty/grotesque. and now can reveal to us who he really serves with his content. what symbols are hidden in the negative spaces, subliminal... there are surely intent behind them

I think this song wants to tell us something about how radioactivity destroys everything, can makes our reality a nightmare and erase everything we've built like it's nothing. The first frame comes from the viral video performance from artist Kota Takeuchi "Pointing at Fukuichi live cam" where you can see a cleaner of the radioactive parts of the Fukushima nuclear plants pointing a finger at the camera, interrogating the responsability and expressing the ressentment from this catastrophy. Black snow is I think a reference to ashes from nuclear explosion that have been seen like after Tchernobyl incident (The famous "Fallout"). It is the indicator that we've crossed the event horizon. Now nothing can happen because nothing exist anymore. Everything is blasted out or will be ("Nothing comes out of the black snow"). The dancers at the end tell us how we have always considered and represented the radioactivity and experiences on the atom in american culture : A retrofuturistic cowboy-ish and weirdly sexy entertainment. I like the fact that the swim wear "bikini" was named after the atoll were the US used to make nuclear test like if radioactivity was making it cool and make you an atomic bomb. Now mix it with the fact that a lot of nuclear test were also made in the american desert. Radioactivity has always been presented as an entertainment. the only thing you can do is accompagny this and never forget the green and blue planet earth were you came from. It'l help you to create something maybe.

Have you looked into where the lyrics come from? Look up the Age Of sleeve credits they give credit to a book called CCRU Writings 1997-2003 and a particular passage in the book called Channel Zero has many like almost verbatim phrases and lingo that constitute the songs apocalyptical and cybernetically exacerbated cataclysm kind of vibe and aesthetic. Look up CCRU Channel Zero and also look into the weird like trajectory and lasting influence that group had on like cryptic and outlandish conspiracy and crypto fascist ideology the CCRU research group began to sort of decay into.

Aww I opened this up on a separate tab first and then opened it on youtube and didn’t know the first tab was playing. Because of this the song itself was just in line enough, bu the vocals were doing this INCREDIBLE delay that made it sound like words were coming out of words which the first word would come out of again. It was awesome to the point that, while still having my head blown by the song, I can’t help but wish it was intentional. If you ever read this Daniel, please give this a try. Maybe like a 2 second time delay, maybe fractions less. Does anybody know if the ninja cowgirls are a thing from somewhere else? Or is he nodding to Circuit Des Yeux’s “Jackie Lynn” persona? Amazing work here. That Julien Donkey Boy nod was AWESOME!
