It takes money to run foundations & to meet the needs that present themselves. It takes money to buy food, it takes money to pay electricity invoices, it takes money for housing, it takes money to reach out to others in a substantial way. It takes money to to pay wages, it takes money for fuel etc. etc. etc. You cannot compartmentalize a human without consequences. We see the separation of a person into all these compartments, we are broken into pieces & see ourselves as distinctly having different aspects of ourselves. My spiritual self as being separated from my physical self, & separated from my sexual self & separated from my mental self & separated from my financial self which is also separated from my emotional self. We think of ourselves as 6 or more separate units, instead of embracing ourselves as a whole person who is united spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, sexually, & financially. No wonder we are splintered & questing, we need to gather ourselves up & embrace all of ourselves as one being. This includes finances. All workers are worthy of their keep, & more so when they are helping to keep others fed, nourished, educated, housed, empowered & motivated. None attachment is the key, having something is not wrong, desiring with no end may be unadvised but being unable to release it where needed will bring suffering to all.I think if he has money, uses it wisely to help where it is needed by releasing it for use, it may then be wise & empowerment & help to others not just himself. There is a cost to everything in this life. It is the same here, however, we do not have as many spiritual teachers to call on.

My grandmother, she was orphaned at a young age, at 4 or 5 age. she didn't have her mother or father. she worked her entire life, living a poor, below the poverty line life. struggling for daily wages. struggling to feed her 6 sons. But in that hardship, she never swayed away from her path of spirituality. She always believed it. And her children worked hard. harder. and now we live a better standard of life which comes close to being described as rich. I was once a blind atheist than an agnostic and now a believer on my own path. My grandmother never questioned any of my beliefs but she always said I will find my calling. Being rich or poor has nothing to do with spirituality. My grandmother never lost hers in her 50 years of misery living a poor harsh life. Its what makes INDIANS stronger True spirituality will teach you the way of life. Will teach you how to live life not just attain Mukti. I'd like to add my two cents worth to the issue raised. 1. In my view, the difference between India and the rest of the world is that India is a historically spiritual country and still is, despite going into a materialistic tail spin. Other countries are evolving towards spirituality at different speeds. It's not too difficult to see this. Per capita, India has the greatest number of mystics, occultists, and spiritual aspirants of many different traditions. But I believe that Nature is now distributing spirituality more equitably across the world. Everybody knows about yoga and yogis, even the bushmen or the aborigine living in the forest. It won't be long before the spiritual wave knocks on every door awakening the masses. 2. The difference between spirituality and materialism is non-existent in reality. It's just being used for convenience. Spirituality is an attitude. If you apply a spiritual attitude to running, eating, working or to any other activity or object, that is spirituality in essence. 3. Science and the best minds in science are slowly coming around to close the gap between science and spirituality. Now, the latest hypothesis is that the vast physical universe looks more like a thought or a hologram. That was always the view of Indian spirituality, both of the Vedic and Tantric traditions.
@DecepticonLeader5 жыл бұрын
1. I think the materialisic tail spin is mainly because of convenience as you stated in your comment. We have better standards and modern tools which people in ancient times didn't have. Same with our infrastructure and other features of modern society. So I think it's more about people being less poor rather than more materialistic. And yes I agreee, people all over the world are trying to find a spiritual connection. It's needed. I see so many kids who are confused, depressed and without direction/purpose. 2. I fully agree. 3. Yes, it's quite fascinating how a completely materialistic approach to reality such as science still predict something similar to that of spiritual teachings.

Hmm... He answered the first question a bit too much like a western politician. I may have misunderstood it but what the young man tried to say is 'how can we give the poor more time for spirituality and less reason to worry about putting food on the table?' Same problem as after the Sovjet fell, some very rich people were established some fell even deeper into poverty.

Money... Power... Followers... Luxury all this is possible by becoming a Yogi... In earlier days great kings gave up everything and realised life is short trip but today's sages they are good preachers with different Intentions within them...

Very good question. I m not against sadhguru but this question is correct. If u have to work 12 18 hrs u don't get enough time to follow these spiritual gurus. Once yr basic needs r sorted thn u look for other options. But if u r struggling to fulfill basic needs u wudnt even think about yoga, spiritual this and that. Btw I m wondering is it free to stay in Isha home?
