I'm defiantly in the former. I've used, and loved OnePlus Phones since the 5t, and from 2018 to 2020, i found myself annually upgrading. 5t, 6t, and 7t Pro McLaren. I skipped the 8t and 9, because i was convinced the days of hole punches, and notches we're over, and i thought OnePlus was for sure gonna be one of the companies to usher in under display cameras into a mainstream, flagship caliper device, just as they did with under display fingerprint scanners with the 6t. Nope, and more so than ever, we are being asked to settle more, and more. Like, how in 2022 could any company think it's okay to launch a phone with 128gb of storage as the only option? As much as it goes against their slogan, i could settle for only 8gb of ram. But, 256gb should be the default storage option for all companies, imo. And with the rumors of the regular OP10, and OP10R omitting the alert slider, it seems time to leave OnePlus behind. They've settled. OPPO ruined them. Hopefully the OnePlus spirit with continue with Carl Pei's Nothing. Until they eventually sell out too, but i guess we'll see.

My 8 Pro was disappointing. It was the best option at the time I bought it (Samsung's UI is DOA, so they weren't an option) but there were still things that bugged me about the phone-- the curved screen edges, the too-rounded corners, the UI which was better than a lot of other manufacturers but still wasn't quite as good as stock Android. But I was willing to put up with those things for a modern phone that had enough performance for what I needed. Fast forward six months, and the phone starts acting up, registering button presses I didn't make, not registering ones I did make (the hell of having an alarm blaring in your face but not being able to wake the phone up to turn it off), apps crashing and slowing down, the mic quality in voice recorder being unusable but sounding fine in phone calls... I sent it in to OnePlus for a repair and was quoted $350. I said no thanks, I don't like the phone enough to get it fixed, and I started looking for a new one. Lo and behold, here comes the Pixel 6 Pro. Six more months later, I've finally found an arrangement where I can get my hands on it-- it ships next week. My advice: if you're considering this phone, or really any phone from OnePlus (and maybe any phone ever), make sure you like it enough to spend $350 - $600 saving it from defects. Otherwise, you very well may end up in the situation I did.

Here's some friendly feedback from one of your biggest fans. Not every video needs an angle beyond just reviewing something for the sake of guiding a potential consumer. This is lovely shot, and has great narration, and is a very detailed verdict. But the video constantly is just about to collapse under the weight of this "equivocation" angle. And I don't think anyone buys the white lie that it will "occupy you after you post your final video". It's the same with the ZTE Axon video, of course invisible camera angles weren't the main thing you wondered about as a kid watching Star Trek. Sometimes it does make sense, for sure, like the recent Xperia 5 video - the "always almost" tagline and overall angle structure is super sharp. But perhaps not every video needs one, and it creates a bit of strain narratively when watching, when it, like here, simply is a bad fit. Awesome work, man!

I still use it because its good enough for my usage pattern.Got a new battery put in a few months ago. Being a long term user, I think my biggest grouch against Oneplus is justified, namely its shoddy software experience. Every Android update has been highly frustrating to nightmarish, bug and glitch ridden which takes mutiple updates to iron out. For example on upgrade to Android 9, the phone bricked! Had to visit their service centre to get that fixed. Following a series of updates , Android 9 got properly fixed only after 11 th update! This kind of user experience is something that reviewers like you can never be aware of but makes an owners life difficult to frustrating. Oneplus hardware is prettygood,no issues with that but software is their achilles heel. And comments in their community forum refkect user frustration fir tgeir later models too. Which is why Im not going to go in fir another Oneplus

Michael, I too miss the days of crazy designs and looking forward to my next phone. I've got the Samsung S21 Ultra with 16gb of ram and 512gb of storage. I've had it a year and I guess I'll keep it until it no longer serves it's purpose. There's nothing exciting out there to entice my purchase and to let go of a similarly adequate phone. Boring. That's today's smartphone world.

If there's one thing that most Android smartphones get wrong, it is the UI design to user-comfort. So far, the only Android Smartphone Brand that did the right thing is Samsung with its easy to use OneUI. Not even the IOS clones or the IOS itself can stand a chance against that easy to reach brightness bar or. That low wifi and data button on the control panel. Heck, if you want customizations, Samsung has got you covered with their in depth theming system that allows you to change even how the way your Recent Apps Menu is layed. My main take away here is this. Why is no one doing it the Samsung style? Why do I have to stretch my finger up across the screen to reach that brightness slider, or that button somewhere in the control panel. What's with the useless big and bubble buttons for the Data and Wifi? Why waste so much space in a place where you just want to come and go? It's just pure inconvenience. It's like if you were off to the super market to buy some groceries only to comeback and forgot where you parked your car in the huge sea of cars in the parking lot. Now, you have to find your car somewhere in the open field, section by section. It's somewhat like that. If I were to design the control panel on Oneplus O2 OS, I would take notes from Samsung and Windows Mobile. Bring the control panel to the bottom, the settings option to the side of the brightness slider. The most clicked buttons of the control panel like the Wifi and Data button to the bottom right corner. The ability to infinitely scroll in the Control Panel and Notification panel. No need to swipe back up to see you notifications. Just swipe down and the screen will be filled with every notification it can fit on the display. And after you're done, you can press a "Back" button or just swipe from the side. I would put the search bar in the settings at the bottom and so as for every thing that was placed on top. Like, why the inconvenience?

No 4k on the front cam isn't a big deal when you remember that all social media compresses, often with a 1080p limit and that a 2k isn't going to benefit from 4k video anyway. They barely benefit from being 2k in the first place.

there was EVERYTHING wrong with LOST, from the pretentious name to the meandering story to the refusal to answer any questions that didn't raise ten more. It was great mindless entertainment at the time but a relentless waste of space in hindsight, and the drove of imitators that followed closely after marked a particularly insipid phase of TV and movie storytelling.

OnePlus was already a small portion of a larger company, it didn't need to be a glass sandwich boring slab company, they could have left that to Vivo and Oppo, but no they decided they needed THREE flagship brands, ruining my favourite in the process. Enthusiast brands usually betray enthusiasts, that how it works. but that only really applies to startups with no infrastrucural support from a conglomerate like OnePlus had. they could have kept making profit on properly inspiring enthusiast devices WITH HEADPHONE JACKS and grow despite not catering to the uninspired Apple/Samsung clone market.

If one does an analysis of how companies under the umbrella of BBK electronics have grown ever since their respective inceptions, it'd make for an interesting case study and also help make sense of the products that Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and Realme have made and will make. While the design language of OnePlus's phones have almost always been influenced by Oppo's products, the eventual merger was bound to happen. Atleast the Android skin that comes with all of these phones has some differentiating features which make them standout amidst the insane amount of competition from other brands. All this gets even more interesting in Asian markets, especially in India. OnePlus 10 Pro looks like a decent upgrade over the 9 Pro. Let's hope that OnePlus keeps its software clean and delivers on those promised updates in a timely manner.

I just had the new oxygen OS update and i hate it. Everything is awfull. No battery % on the notification panel (only if you had it toggle in the status bar), the AOD its "always on" but it isn't, the animations are "cool" but x2 times slower which is frustating, notification panel is juts like on the huawei phones (which i don't like at all), the folders are just squares now, rip circles, and its apps are on the top of the phone not in the bottom ??? And probably the most ridiculous thing is that in order to access the hidden apps, you have to type a code #XXXXX# in the phone app??????????? I've already seen those headlines about oneplus and oppo but i wasn't expecting this, RIP Oneplus.

Kinda TRUE as having used the pixel 6 pro as well I find this a better deal as the screen is better, software extremely smooth, good performance with games modes (those who need it), excellent battery life etc.etc. Camera is quite subjective but it does take good pictures nonetheless. Pixel really feels boring as well has a sub-par display which really bothers once you see the competition at the same price level. Makes you think do you really want android 13 or the rest so early to sacrifice all the above for that months? Well if you can wait slightly, OnePlus can also deliver 13, 14 or maybe more with a more zing to it.

On one hand I'm angry that yet another smartphone company left me out of receiving their latest device as a review unit the two things that stop me from getting angry at OnePlus is 1) I have AT&T. And my only OnePlus device, the Nord N200 5G, is already not going to hit 5G speeds and 2) nobody EVER sends me their latest ANYTHING. I'm just making videos on things I buy even though there are tens of thousands of the items my videos are on are already owned worldwide. I might make a video on something a few people were thinking about buying, but needed that extra review to make a final decision. Beyond that I'm definitely not a contender for, literally, anyone else making videos on KZbin advertising unreleased products. I'm above all those tech companies. I'd love to receive a free review unit. At the age of 52 I no longer care. Not like I'd turn down the opportunity if presented. I just never expect one and no longer care.
