I absolutely don't like this "here's a new phone only 4 months after it's predecessor" concept. Btw 17mm are not 117°. The new iPhones have a 13mm ultra wide angle with 120°... this is more likely the 107° of the recent LG phones.
@TheMrMobile5 жыл бұрын
This is actually a really useful bit of feedback! While shooting with the 7T and comparing it against the 123-degree ultrawide on the Fold I was like, "this 7T sure seems a lot less wide than 117." It felt a lot like (as you say) the G7. Will ask OnePlus for comment. EDIT: Clarification from OnePlus. "FOV is 117."
@Raja995mh335 жыл бұрын
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] Still kinda confusing. How is OnePlus measuring? Apple says they have 13mm with 120°. Samsung says they have 13mm with 123°. LG has a 16mm with 107°. It absolutely makes no sense that OnePlus says they have a 17mm but 117°. At 17mm, the FOV is even smaller than on the LG G8 and (as you kinda "discovered") not as wide as the iPhone or Samsung phones.
@NiketSatapara5 жыл бұрын
My phone have 124.5° wide, but works fine only when good light around
@Raja995mh335 жыл бұрын
PhazonBlaxor yeah of course, that's a big point. But I just kinda doubt that OnePlus is using a big sensor and like you see in the video, compared to the 123° of the Fold, the OP7T definitely does not have a 117° FOV.
@kain0m5 жыл бұрын
Always 35mm film size equivalent focal length (actual focal length is maybe 2-3mm). But there is some wiggle room on how exactly you state the diemensions... Is the FOV horizontal, or diagonal? Or "square diagonal", which isn't even a thing in reality? 17mm should be ~104° focal length, whereas 13mm should be ~121° - both in 3:2 diagonal. And of course, all those focal lengths are rounded.

As time goes on, innovating in smartphones gets much more difficult. As a result, companies resort to gimmicks to try and stand out. Every big brand does it: Apple, Google, OnePlus, LG, Samsung, Motorola, etc. They don’t [usually] all do it in the same way, but it’s present in them all. Because of this, we’re all stuck with ugly notches, uglier hole punch cameras, folding messes, and hideous rear camera arrays. I’ve been fed up with it for awhile already... I’m ready for all-around beautiful phones again, with no obvious compromises.

Thanks for the excellent review of the OnePlus 7T. I just purchased this exact model recently, right down to the color except for 256GB. I really am liking it. I still have Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 in parallel with this. I am thinking to start using the OnePlus 7T as my main smartphone camera. I have a double smartphone setup because if the battery gets to low on one I can always kick in on the second smartphone. Rather than carry around a battery pack for recharging, I may as well just carry around a second phone which is complete and ready to go with its own battery, camera and all. While the OnePlus 7T will be my mainstay for a while, the Galaxy Note 9 may soon be replaced with the upcoming rumored, revolutionary Galaxy S11, which will completely be another story. :-)

I own the 1,2 and 3T (currently in use). Somehow Oneplus hasn't been able to convince to upgrade since the 3T came out.

Michael, you've always been one of the best reviewers out there...but, man, it's incredible that you didn't like the One Plus 7 Pro. It hurts my brain trying to understand it since I've always agreed with your conclusions about every other phone you've reviewed. The 7 Pro is an amazing phone, even if the camera isn't the best on the market. It's the first non-Samsung device I've had since 2015 (and I upgrade at least twice per year), and, viewed as a complete package, I would say it's the best phone I've ever used. It's not perfect, but it's an incredible device, especially for the money.

I would not mind owning this phone. 599.00 I think is reasonable for what is offered. Speed demon & Star Trek Warp charging, great review Mr. Mobile!

The only 'reviewer' left in a sea of influencers, the sponsorship disclosures should be mandatory (they are) but the likes of MKBHD and others just don't bother. Integrity over dollars = trust Honesty is the best kind of advertising, isn't it?
