I've had my OnePlus 8 5G for about 10 days and watched this video to see if you had the same opinion that I do. It is a Great Phone...and the few deficits are more than made up for with the beautiful AMOLED screen, lighting speed, and the camera is good (all things considered). I've never seen such an awesome zoom...you don't lose anything and that's rare. The 128GB gives plenty of space for apps and such, so I bought it in spite of the lack of space for a memory upgrade. I am a gospel vocalist and the speakers are good enough for those impromptu times when someone wants me to sing. I've never been able to listen to music on a phone without a bluetooth device, but this one is loud, clear, has plenty of bass and dynamics, for me to listen while I work in my home office without externals. Overall, this phone has a lot of bang for the buck. Your review was spot on!!!

Here's my opinion after 21 days of use.... It's fast as hell and only one game has managed to heat up the processor...that game is Respawnables Heroes which may have optimisation problems as it's in early development. Camera I hardly use but it's average from what I've seen...the flash is bright but struggles. Audio in speakers is excellent. Audio in headphones isn't perfect , mids are overpowered and bass could be cleaner, I'd even say the Bluetooth sound is more pleasant than the wired option..it's like your ears are being thrashed. Screen is excellent and the 90hz is buttery smooth, finally we have something to match Samsung's flagship screens. The hole punch camera is barely noticeable as it's tucked away in the top left or bottom corner in landscape..glad it's not in the middle of the screen. I haven't had problems with touching the curved edges either..maybe because I use a bumper case like most people will. The only problem with the curved display is when using tempered glass as I've invested in the protection I can say it's a 50/50 experience...you certainly lose some of the touch sensitivity although it fits beautifully with OnePlus's own bumper cases ..there's a Christmas offer too on OnePlus store so you can save a lot of money until it ends . Finally battery is great once you turn off a few things..the first few days had me worried but now everything is set up it only needs a charge once every day or two...it charges very fast like barely an hour to charge...only thing that's wound me up is that the 8T will charge in just 40min as it uses new tech and a 60w charger instead of the 30w one. I'd give this phone a 90% rating out of 100 . If you hate curved screens get the 8T if you're fine with them go for the 8 and if you want a little bit more get the Pro ..there's no 8T pro this year so unlucky on the 30w charger that's the only advantage the T has over the pro.

I came from an LG V20 to the OnePlus 8 5G about 10 days ago. We did specs analysis and I checked out all the phones in the store...was there a long time :-). This one was the best deal, much more phone for the money. I have the shiny mirrored back and the phone AMLOED screen is stunning. It really is fast and the stereo speakers are the best I've had on any phone ever. You'll love it!! :-)

Thank you I was really considering the 7 pro , but decided it's to bigg\ heavy I really did not mind the curved screen since it's not as huge compared to the pro and any case solves the problem easily,but the pro is just to big. Really and truly the main reason you will buy the pro over the 8 is that massive 7 inch 1440. display ,and most of the time you will have it at 1080, and in longevity the 8 is better for a longer periods of time mainly due to it's software and it having 5g.

I got the impression from other videos and maybe reddit that every version of the OnePlus 8 was built the same (regarding water resistance) but only the ones that required certification for the carriers were indeed certified. That means your device should also be water resistant, but I just wouldn't trust it while swimming.

warp charge is fast! i have oneplus 8 pro and i had 5% battery and i plugged it in.. it was like 15 mins to get 60 -70%.. first phone to do something like this! but if you want to buy it.. look for the tech and think about does it give you what you want.. obiviously it gave me everything I wanted :).

People are making the lack of IP certification a way bigger deal than it is. It's the same hardware, same seals, it just wasn't "approved" by big daddy corporation so it makes people nervous. Even though its the same level or protection.

After watching this and afew other videos I've come to the conclusion that the OnePlus 8 just isn't worth buying over the one plus 7 pro which has 1440p 90hz display full screen thanks to pop up camera and is also £30 cheaper direct from one plus

Gave my brother my 7 pro and got the 8 instead. Main reasons: More comfortable to hold , better color and better overall display ( curves less pronounced,) 5g it's available for me here and works well. Don't regret it.. for me the 1444 wasn't worth it in this size a phone. Longer battery life is better because of it.

Just want to say, the unlocked version is only missing that certification of iP rating but it builds the same way as the carrier version, so basically it's still water resistant to a certain point just as the carrier or the Pro version, but minus the rating

Even if it had IP rating you dont have a gurantee that if something happend that you get your money back. So if some other carrier gurantees IP 68 you can be sure your unlocked Phone is also water resistent...

I also a bit regret to bought it, insted of the pro, but the main thing I decided to buy the 8 is the battery life. The pro has a much weaker battery life, because of the 120Hz refresh rate and the greater screen resolution. I saw a battery test and the 8 had a 9 hours and something battery life, but the pro had an about 6.5 hours in the load test. People who have the Pro say they decrease the resolution or the refresh rate, but if I buy a great phone with a good resolution and high refresh rate, I wouldn't want to dumbing it, I wouldn't buy a high tech phone to not use it's features. If the Pro would has a 90Hz refresh rate option, it would be an acceptable compromise sometimes, if necessary, but you can use only the 60Hz or 120Hz, there is no 90Hz option, and it's a miss. So I choosed the 8, but regretted few times, bc. it was damn expensive, there is no significant difference in price compared to the Pro. But at the end, the plenty battery life and the less curved screen are matter more. It's stange, I'm not statisfied, I would buy a Pro, but not, but wouldn't, I can't decide was it a good choice or not

Hey Mark, excellent video once again! I wanted to ask though, have you had any experience with the 8T variant? Atm there's a great deal here for €600, and from the looks of it, the already excellent battery and display are even better, as the charging goes even quicker and the refresh rate is 120Hz. Battery and display are by far the most important aspects for me, so the cameras aren't really a huge deal for me, but they do seem to have improved as well (although I'm not sure by what margin). Would you think that the 8T would in that case be the go-to phone?

Like always you keep it short and straight - superb review! I was using the one plus 6T along with iphone 7 and totally enjoyed having the best of both ios and android for the first time, although I am not a gamer and neither do I use smartphone heavily. Recently gave away the one plus 6T and am thinking of buying the 8 given everything, but only issue is with the display and build quality as compared to Samsung - particularly starting from A series, the design / display and premium feel of Samsung is just amazing. I am really kind of confused here Mark - would appreciate your help.

Been using this phone a week. Phone fills fast ... but when you play games ... the phone isn't much faster than the much cheaper huawei Honor series. I suppose it depends on the game server too. The camera isn't as good as the huawei. The phone also isn't as wide as the huawei honor series. The keyboard fills very jumpy when you try to type. Now I also used the Samsung galaxy before which I don't think it's worth the price tag considering its quality, battery life and speed. So I won't bother to compare.

Got mine for about 3 weeks now and yes the weakest point of this phone is the camera. However, another review showed how it is still better than the 7T except for a few night shots. Battery life is really amazing and charging speed is awesome. Haven’t tried the 8 Pro yet but you’re last statement is making me reconsider. 🤔 💭
