You have to do the cpu score and throttling test before the update and compare the numbers after the update as well. So that we'll get to know if there is actually any difference.

I did a speed test comparison for day to day apps between my recently bought 12R (16/256) and 9R (8/128). Shockingly I got 0 difference between the performance.. I tested Instagram, Whatsapp, X, Moneycontrol, KZbin, Netflix and a bunch of other daily use apps, and seriously there was NO difference.. Not even half of a second.. Also tested RAM management as well, and still 0 difference.. Same performance.. Though the camera app took 1 second more to open in 9R.. But it's really interesting to see that level of Hardware overkill.. And I would also like to mention that the display on my 9R is more vibrant and glossy than 12R (Not getting into those 1000s of nits crap). Snapdragon 870 is still good for our daily normal activities... Edit: I would like to mention the horrible RAM management of 12R, 7-8 apps running together and after 20-30 minutes the entire app reboots.. I am using 16GB 12R. It's decent if I reopen an app within a few minutes/seconds.

And I want to use my phone for atleast 3-4 years so how's your experience with updates with OnePlus, Ik initial updates would have been good but after 2-3 years have u noticed that HDR processing in images, Details, white balance is not like as it use to ( Considering you have kept your camera lens scratchless) . And battery, performance too

However, with the final update, the front and main cameras were downgraded, and the battery life became quite poor-which was understandable, given the phone was nearly three years old by then. My experience with the 9R was just okay, as the updates were not as timely or frequent as I’d hoped. The latest update significantly reduced its battery performance and task-handling capabilities. When I did a speed test comparison between the 9R and the 12R two months ago (before the latest update of 9R), I noticed no difference in the handling and opening of everyday apps. However, after the latest update, it has downgraded by let's say 10-15%. The direction OnePlus is heading in makes me think the 12R might be my last OnePlus phone. It’s disappointing that the 12 series, despite being top of the line, won’t receive as many updates as they've promised to the inferior Nord series. OxygenOS now seems like a replica of HyperOS from Xiaomi, with OnePlus seemingly trying to copy other brands, using UI elements from HyperOS and animations from iOS. This lack of originality and the instabilities in updates make it feel like we’re getting early-stage beta versions rather than fully ready products. OnePlus needs to bring in a better and new team for their software development to recapture their spark.

@@vedansh_techie I don't own a OnePlus 12 But to be honest in my experience with OnePlus 8T the older updates like oxygen OS 11 and 12 were good but android 13 took the worst place and then with oxygen OS 14 it seems like they made OnePlus 8T better than ever. Although I have compared the images side by side with older versions and I saw oxygen OS 14 has the best quality (hdr, dynamic range, details etc.) and oxygen OS 11 is the fastest in terms of performance, ram management. The one and only problem I faced is that this phone nowadays charges slowly and the battery backup is also not good.
