So happy to see all of the changes Thailand has made to protect this beautiful place. Looks as though it also makes for a much better visitor experience. I'm with you. I probably would have not visited Maya Bay in the past due to the crowds and chaos. Now, as we get ready to start our travels in Southeast Asia in a month, we look forward to visiting this beautiful place. Thanks so much for sharing.

This is almost a documentary, Awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience. As a Thai person, I am proud that this place is known all over the world. But sadly, heavy tourism destroys nature. But that's still incomparable to what the film crew used to destroy this place. They dig up beaches, move corals, cut down native trees and replace them with alien trees. Just to make the background look good on the screen without permission from the Thai authorities. 22 years of litigation, Twenty Century Fox is currently not paying any damages.
@OneShotAdventures2 жыл бұрын
I completely agree, I wanted to include a lot more about what the film crew did, but there was too much to say - it honestly makes me embarrassed that it was a British film crew...

I love your video. Very informative and cinematic. I had goosebump when you took the shot of high cliff on Phi Phi Leh and the background song was just perfect to go with that. I went there in Dec and Maya Bay was still closed. Our tour guide said Maya Bay never stopped to stun him even though he has set foot on the beach countless time. His statement made me curious to experience it by myself and i will go back there again. This time to experience the beauty of it with my own eyes.

Happy to see the place recovering! I did my part by not going there at all on my 5 trips to Thailand in the 2000's. Maybe it's because I read the book and didn't see the movie. Very few boats and people I’m happy to say, a great experience ‼️. Looking forward to further ‘One Shot’ adventures. Best to you both, Anthony 🙏🏻🙏🏻.

I went to Maya Bay in early 2006 and we had to swim in to the beach or kayak so there were no speedboats or crowds like in the pictures you shared which led to the closure. Good they closed it and I hope they will control the daily amount of visitors. /Malin
@OneShotAdventures2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting to hear! 2006 was only a couple of years after the Tsunami, so I wonder if that was a factor? Tourism numbers were way down for a couple of years after that happened
@TimezoneJunkies2 жыл бұрын
@@OneShotAdventures We arrived in Thailand only 1 year and 2 months after the tsunami and on the east coast it was quite busy as usual but the west coast was a little bit quieter, but just a little bit and I’m not sure it that was because of the tsunami. My ex has been going to Thailand since the year 2000 and he said phi phi was busier than usual when we were there in April 2006 and that’s under 1,5 year after the tsunami. Lap Lak on the other hand was totally dead and nothing was built up yet then from the disaster. I’ve personally been going to Thailand since early 2006 and spent years there in total and every year it’s busier and more touristy. In 2006 Thailand had many more unspoilt areas. Remember we went to Koh Lipe. There was hardly anyone there. There was no walking street, all there was was a dirt track taking you to some beaches. So things change rapidly. Obviously the last two years have changed Thailand a lot in some areas as no one was allowed in for some time. We spent the first 5 months of the first lockdown in Thailand. Weird feeling but I think it’s even weirder now with masks and qr codes as tests. Will go back at some point but hopefully it will be more normal than.
@OneShotAdventures2 жыл бұрын
There has definitely been a hard reset for tourism since the pandemic, so if you like avoiding crowds in famous places it's a great time to be here. Apart from that, most things feel pretty normal (apart from the closed businesses), but it does vary where you go. On Phi Phi, Samui, Phangan, Tao not many people wear masks at all and the only QR code we showed was at the airport in January. Wearing masks isn't actually required by law either, but in the bigger cities more people tend to wear them.

Definitely want to visit Thailand 🇹🇭 soon. Been to El Nido in the Philippines 🇵🇭 It is a shame that unlike in El Nido, Philippines, people aren't allowed to kyak into Maya Bay. And the beautiful iconic Longtail Boats once seen in Maya Bay parked up at the beach are no longer a sight to be seen in Maya Bay. But I understand the reasons why.

not being able to swim is a small price to pay for hopefully a full recovery of this paradise. All the other rules actually give a better experience for tourists. Sure I would love to sit on the beach all day but so do thousands of others and then it's not so fun anymore. So limiting to only 1 hours visit makes it not so crowdy hopefully. So happy they got rid of the boats ruining the whole view!!

let's go on vacation to Indonesia, there are many tourist attractions in each region. each region has a culture and tradition that is different from other regions from different regional languages and foods that are unique to the region. On vacation to Indonesia, don't forget to eat Indonesian food, but remember to be careful, Indonesian food tastes spicy. holidays to Indonesia exist; Nusa Dua and Nusa Penida in Bali Borobudur temple in Central Java Prambanan temple in Jogja Thousand Islands and Angel Island in Jakarta the peak of bogor with views of the tea garden and the Indonesian safari park in bogor, west java, close to jakarta Riau-Kepri and Batam are close to Singapore and have the same culture as Singapore and Malaysia, namely Malay culture and traditions. Raja Ampat in Papua the island of komodo live ancient animals that still exist, namely the large lizard Nama'y komodo, Lombok, Gili Trawangan, Lake Kelimutu, Mount Rinjani in NTT Tangkuban Parahu Mountain, White Crater and Saung Angklung, a musical instrument made of bamboo in Bandung Ijen Crater and Mount Bromo in East Java Sianok canyon in West Sumatra tana toraja in South Sulawesi Lake Toba and Bunaken Marine Park in North Sulawesi Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi and there is another that is Derawan Island, Maratua Island, Karimunjawa, Weh Island, Sumba, Jomblang Cave... ..
