You could still make a game out of this. You could open your project in UPBGE (a fork of Blender Game Engine) and go from there. The engine is Eevee-based, so it'll look exactly like how you've done here.

If it's recreated from scratch it actually is less likely to happen. Copyright and trademark holds rights over the created assets and since he remade it all on his own using pictures only as reference i think he will be fine, but yea stuff like that sucks often.

Absolute insanity dude! The faithfulness to the original aesthetic of things like the buildings, to the otherworldly-cool battle scenes and enemy sprites in them. I’ve seen a bunch of ‘remake’ imaginings before but it always looks clearly fan made. this looks like something Nintendo would do first-party if they did a remake.

This might also not be ideal since I'm just a Game Animator (who uses Maya)... but for the terrain my approach would have been to start with a poly plane, & move the outer verticies to shape it to the bottom layer. Then move the verticies on the inner edgeloops to line up with the next layer and extrude. Line up verticies for the third layer, extrude, repeat. That way you have a clean mesh from the beginning and can just insert extra edge loops when needed. Yours still turned out great in the end though! Which really, that's all that matters.. Just sucks it gave you such a hard time to get there. Awesome project man, can really see the love put into this!

If I were directing a remake of EarthBound I'd want to include a few quality-of-life upgrades too: -Worn equipment and key items relegated to their own inventories. -Give Jeff a dedicated "tools" command, with each gadget he finds adding a new tool to his menu instead of taking up space in his inventory. -A universal "backpack" inventory with unlimited space, but it can only be accessed outside of combat. Replaces Tracy's Escargo Express service. -Replace the Skip Sandwich with a Mother 3-style Dash button, complete with the ability to charge past low-level enemies. -Make character-specific commands more useful. Paula's "Pray" could guarantee a random benefit to the party but only work once or twice per battle. Jeff's "Spy" could add enemy stats and information to an in-game enemy encyclopedia. Poo's "Mirror" could have him learn abilities that normally only enemies can use. -Create new optional superbosses that drop ultimate equipment instead of locking them behind 1/128 drop rates. -The Phase Distorter is a time machine, so it should be able to send you back (forward?) in time to just before you left Saturn Valley in the finale.
