I think david just talked about the music and the lyrics itself so that’s why he said about relationship things. But david, i recommend you to watch (come back home-concept film-to be or not to be) to understand the storyline about the mv so you’re not that confused about the mv😂

I recommend a reaction of PD from Form of Therapy channel, because his analysis is very on point. The song is about relationship, but not a romantic one. This entire plot is way deeper than that. You would have to watch the trailer films released before this comeback and also the "come back home" mv. Its all bound together into a very interesting universe and story line.

Even when a song seems like it's straight up telling the story for those who follow it, lyrics are written ambiguously so it can have meaning to people who don't. In the case of this song, it's straight up talking about a break up. The best songs mean different things to different people.

So, the MVs for TBONTB and Come Back Home both have a storyline, and here's me trying to retell it to the best of my ability + some observations of mine at the end: In the ''Come Back Home'' concept film and the two TBONTB Story films, ONEUS were 6 monarchs who were loved and worshipped by the people they ruled over, a love equally as strong as the love the monarchs held for their people. Upon seeing just how worshipped the monarchs were by humans, Helios became jealous and threatened to take away the sun from the humans. Fearful of being cursed by the sun deity, the humans sacrificed the six monarchs and all their servants - having been banished to the eternal night by Helios, the servants became cursed ghouls and the monarchs being cursed with having to drink human blood, something they did only to evil-doers as they still held love for humans, despite being sacrificed. Seeing how the now-vampire monarchs protected humans, the cursed servants became enraged - they were disgusted by the humans' betrayal (sacrificing the monarchs and them in order to keep the sun) and a war broke out between the monarchs and the cursed servants. The monarchs worshipped the moon and waited for the day of an eclipse, as a child would be born - one who were to be used for a ceremony to bring the eternal night to its end. Once the child was born, the cursed servants tried to kill the child - which the monarchs were protecting. A war that lasted ten years. In the end, the monarchs finally won, however one servant was left - one they couldn't kill, as the servant had told them that on the night of a red moon, he would come back for the child. The sky turned red with the moon, and just like the servant had told, he rose again and tried to slay the child - however his efforts were futile, as in the end, the monarchs were the last ones standing. The souls of the deceased cursed servants were then sealed within a necklace by the monarchs. Knowing what it would entail for their beloved humans if they were still around (endless war, pain and suffering), the monarchs put down their crowns, and also sealed their own souls in the necklace. At some point, Helios was struck with grief at the loss of his son, Phaeton who died while trying to ride his father's sun chariot to prove to his friends that he truly was the son of the sun god, Helios. Helios's grief then turned into anger which fell onto the monarchs who fled into the darkness. However Helios caught them and stripped them of their powers, imprisoning them in a chamber made of the charred remains of the sun chariot. This caused them to fall into an endless slumber, and Helios cast the most powerful curse yet upon the monarchs - in order to regain their powers and escape, the monarchs had to consume the blood of the prophetic child's descendants. - What you see at the start of the To Be Or Not To Be MV is but a mere illusion - a dream in the monarchs' endless slumber, proven true by the fact that Hwanwoong wakes up from that dream and his eyes turn red. Throughout the course of the MV we see settings that contrast between that dream, and their reality in which they are struggling to decide whether To Be (Live) or Not To Be (Die). We can see how each one of them slowly is shown in bloody scenes or ones where they give into the temptation of drinking blood - Leedo bathing in blood, Hwanwoong wearing the thorn crown and blood dripping down his fingers, Ravn piercing people with his spear, Seoho seeing that he has to make a choice, Xion's charred hands which he later cuts and feeds Keonhee the blood. We can also see the waking up process - with Keonhee it's especially prominent as the blindfold that kept him blind to reality and kept him in the slumber falls off upon drinking blood. - We see how the monarchs enter a white room, looking much stronger than before and get ambushed by snipers. Those snipers shooting at them could symbolise their subconscious trying to stop them one last time from escaping - however their will to live is stronger, and they reclaim their power, as well as the necklace within which their souls are locked away - thus regaining their full power and breaking Helios's curse. At the end we also see Keonhee taking back the monarchs' crown, meaning they have come back - however different. The ''I have to get rid of you in my heart to live again'' lyric could very well symbolise the monarchs killing the love they held for humans and realising that if the humans were willing to sacrifice them so easily to keep something (in this case the sun and peace), why should they (the monarchs) be suffering in order to sustain the selfish humans? Lastly: To Be Or Not To Be symbolises a difficult choice that has to be made in order for something to happen - which in the case of ONEUS's story, means either the monarchs deciding to kill to live, or die and sustain their beloved humans. Which directly ties into how TBONTB and a bside on LIVED called ''Dead Or Alive'' are tied together (As said by the members). The phrase ''dead or alive'' also appears within the song, just like how ''To Be Or Not To Be'' appears in the lyrics of ''Dead or Alive''. Another thing that I noticed was how in the ''To Be Or Not To Be story film'' videos we first see the monarchs in that dark place, putting their crown down as they seal away their souls in that red necklace, then in the MV itself near the end, we see the six of them in a white room, with the necklace hanging on that hand sculpture. To me that kind of signifies that they are within that necklace (hence why the room is white and there is no crown around it) and trying to get it to reclaim their souls and get back to reality. Hence why the scene after the drop of blood (symbolising they did give into temptation and chose to kill and drink the blood of the prophetic child's descendants to live (To Be) ) shows them again in a dark setting, reclaiming their crown from where it lay and rest for a century.

They've done so much since debut and showed so many sides of themselves. Their songs changes but, at the same time, their music and sound remains their own. I'm glad you gave this comeback a listen, David. Like what other comments said, when you have time, please look into their trailers that is related to To Be Or Not To Be and Come Back Home. They created a whole fantasy story from this and it's actually quite interesting.
@AgusXiaolin4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reaction! You must watch the concept trailers for understand the storyline (they're vampires). This relationship is not a lover one, but for a friendship (for humans, the child or for Helios) but they portrait soooo god the internal fight for to be or not to be, for decide to d1e and still in pain and nightmares or fight and earn their powers and souls again. The order is: - Come Back Home Concept Film - Come Back Home MV (+live performance in Road to Kingdom) - TBONTB Story Film 1 - TBONTB Story Film 2 - TBONTB MV And apparently all their MV are connected! Deep storyline with a lot of fantasy elements and I LIVE for that. Not a lot of kpop groups incorporate these elements!

I think we really need a tutorial video on how to watch Oneus Lived MV..
@AgusXiaolin4 жыл бұрын
@@sleepypineapple7666 Yeah, I think the order of MV is: Lit Twilight Come Back Home To Be Or Not To Be Valkyrie A Song Written Easily In Lit, the 6 monarchs enjoy and celebrate together, but Helios (god of the sun) gets jealous and curses them, a blood curse that will turn them into vampires, and the moon turns red (this happens in RTK's Lit performance). So, in Twilight the monarchs, turned into vampires, they see that the only possibility to stay alive is to drink the blood of humans, but since Oneus love them, they will only drink the blood of the servants of Helios, who want to kill them. And in CBH they fight with the servants and save the boy, who can end the blood curse and let the sun return to normal. In the Story Film 1, Oneus locks up the souls of the Servants in the necklace. This happens in the CBH stage in RTK, where the souls of the servants travels of Hwanwoong to Leedo to Seoho, who have the necklace! "The monarchs realized that as long as they existed together, humans could never escape the bridle of pain" so, they decide to give their souls to the necklace. And "Helios's gaze disappeared into the eternal darkness, beyond the unreachable sun." (The necklace appear previously in Twilight, in RTK's CBH performance, the photo of the track list of Lived and the Story Film 1). So TBONTB and Valkyrie can be considered two different endings, the decisions that the monarchs made. In Valkyrie, they are in closed, dark places where there are rays of light that illuminate them. And they decided to get trapped inside the necklace (creadit to persynelkpop). But in TBONTB they recover the necklace where their souls are and they recover their powers (symbolized by Keonhee and the crown) and they are ready to face Helios. Plus; In Valkyrie, Leedo has wings, and in TBONTB we can see Leedo's back as if they had been ripped off (Helios was the culprit in taking away his powers). And in ASWE they sing about a breakout, but the memories and good moments that they join with that person made them happy that they want to be back with that person. Maybe is a song about Helios? The humans? I don't know We'll see what is next!

I waited so long for this!! It is true what the other comments says about the song having another meaning, however, in my opinion, the lyrics are made (intentionally) in a way that the song does not fit JUST the story but also can be relatable, so you can understand it as a love-relationship one and at the same time as the meaning that connects with their whole story, even more if you think in people that don't know them and won't get the concept (mainly in Korea, since people understands the lyrics right away) I think it is a smart choice to do so! I may be wrong, but from the first time that I read the translation I got that feeling of the song being intentionally ambiguous, so it can have more than one meaning. I love this concept so much, and I'm glad you gave the guys a chance again, they are working very hard and it's nice to see people enjoying their work. Thank you so much for reacting to them, really, I'm really looking forward for more ONEUS' reactions! Doesn't have to be now, but I hope you can give them another chance to show their work! I think the story line of the songs and MV are totally different - the song is indeed about a relationship - but the MV is a sequel to their story line from their RTK finale song Come Back Home. Here is an overview of it and my theory on the entire thing: The story (from the trailer and story film) is that the world was once ruled by six monarchs, who were loved and admired by everyone but they were jealous of Helios, god of the sun. Helios was jealous of the humans’ praise and worship of the monarchs so he threatened them with making the sun disappear forever if the six monarchs were not sacrificed to Helios. Finally the humans sacrificed the monarchs where they and their servants were cast to exile. He cursed them with a thirst for blood from the humans they cherished and once protected. Yet they only drank blood from evil people and continued to protect the humans but not the same way they had. The servants however hated humans for their betrayal to the monarchs and killed humans without mercy. A prophecy was given that a child would be born on the day of an eclipse to be used in a ceremony to bring an eternal night to humans. When the day of the eclipse came a child was born and a war between the monarchs and their servants began. Said in the lines “on the day of the eclipse a child was born as predicted; and the devastating war between the monarchs and their servants, to protect the child, lasted 10 years.” The war lasted ten years before the monarchs finally won but when cutting the neck of the last marquis he pledged he would be back for the child when the red moon appears again. The battle scenes in the video are of the last battle of the war where the monarchs won. The story films explain what happens after they won the war and what Helios does to them. To Be Or Not To Be is how they are woken centuries later, in the modern era, and they have to retrieve the necklace they sealed their souls inside of. When they try to retrieve the necklace they are shot, the more modern version of ways to stop threats instead of swords. The bathtub of blood Leedo is in represents the blood he’s soaked in from the battles; Xion’s hands covered in black represent that their hands are still trapped like “cuffs” in a sense; Keonhee is believed to have lost himself and silenced with innocence and blinding himself to death and dread until he has to face it; Seoho is trapped in one place and bound to the root of his own issues; Hwanwoong with the thorns are to reference the biblical story of Jesus and his crown of thorns that he wore, in a sense he’s wearing it to show he is trapped in the role of sacrifice that he can’t escape from; Ravn is the one killing the descents of the child to free the others of their curse and pain but he falls to his knees in despair realizing he took the lives of people he cared about. The opening scene of them having dinner is of them is before they were imprisoned by Helios for the death of his son. However, in the dance scene the reference of the giving of blood to wake the others is represented by Hwanwoong laying down and Seoho above him to be appearing to cut his hand, wrist, or arm then Hwanwoong wakes up. My theory is that since the song Dead or Alive off the album is referenced several times and To Be Or Not To Be is referenced in Dead or Alive it will be another video release to continue the story that the ending cliffhanger left us with, or the next comeback. PS: the audio clip played at the end, when played in reverse, says “devil” as the title of the album “Lived” does.

First, you should react to COME BACK HOME concept video and after that the COME BACK HOME MV. After that, watch the Story Film 1 and 2 of TO BE OR NOT TO BE then the MV. Actually the storyline of ONEUS universe connects all their MV. The storyline is: 1.- Lit They were monarchs who were cherished by their subjects, but Helios the god of sun got jealous and threatened to take the sun away if the humans didn't sacrifice the monarchs. 2.- Twilight They were sacrificed by humans. Then Helps cursed them to have a thirst human blood and to live in eternal night (a.k.a being vampires). The MV shows how they were losing their humanity as the sunset was nearing. 3.- Valkyrie They were hopeless and in the dark. But like the song itself, they need a hope to shine, a light in their darkness. The light can be considered as the birth of the prophetic child. The children was born during a lunar eclipse and he was supposed to be sacrificed by the monarchs' servants to erase the curse. ( The servants didn't accepted the human's betrayal and wanted revenge). The monarchs started to protect the child. 4.- Come Back Home The war to protect the child lasted 10 years, but before being defeated the servants promised to come back when the moon became red. When this happened, they rose from the dead to fight for the child again, but the monarchs were able to defeat them again. 5.- To Be Or Not To Be They sealed the souls of their servants inside the necklace alongside their own souls. This sacrifice was made to save the humans since Helios would keep using them against them as long the monarchs had any humanity inside them. But Helios lost his son and turned his anger against the monarchs who were imprisoned, that's why we can see Ravn fighting; and their only could leave if they took the blood of the child they protected for so long. They fell into a slumber who lasted 100s years , when they were in the cage whit golden sticks and the MV is about them waking up and escaping after got back the necklace. 6.- A song written easily At the beginning of the MV we can see the boys in the city searching for something or someone after they have escaped. The lyrics says something like: "As I walk I see in the distance, your hands full of warmth". Vampires are associate with cold. "My heart turned black and burnt to ash. My heart hurts". In TBONTB MV Xion's hand is black and in the mythology the vampires became ash with the sun light. "The sad songs we heard as we walked, I don't want to hear it, it's hard. Why do I keep missing you? I sill hope and pray that you'll come back". I think this is a reference to COME BACK HOME and the children crying. The lyrics says: " When you cry, when you smile I will be there to protect you. This dreary silence is about to get deeper. Please come back home" So maybe they are looking for the descendant of the child to keep protecting from Helios. "If by chance you ever hear me, say lalala. I'm calling out for you again today" We can see some parts of them in the city: Leedo in the car, Hwanwoong in the phone cabin... These can represent them trying to find the descendant but they can't. The bright parts where they're dancing in the nature can represent them coming back to what could be in the past their castle during Twilight. Maybe they come there looking for a track to understand what happened in the 100's years they were gone. If you really want to get into ONEUS universe you should check up their: -Lit MV and Road to kingdom performance. -Come back home concept film, the MV and the Road to Kingdom performance. - To be or not to be story films and the teasers. I hope it helped you!! Please support ONEUS 🥰🥰😁😁
