Honestly it is a shame Jinki is not more recognized for his dancing. He is a really good dancer but he is not confident with it. Whenever he talks about his dancing, he always deprecates himself by saying he always forgets choreo, takes a long time to learn it, etc. But he is a member of SHINee (with all their complex choreos) and he works so darn hard at it, and I am so glad he has a choreo with this song to show off his dancing. He should be proud of it and of DICE.

It's funny that you were like waaait during the dance practice because during the showcase he said he was so nervous about the choreo and kept questioning himself during practices. Then when he was filming the MV he said he had this moment where he thought 'oh right, I'm Shinee's leader' and the nerves just vanished. Honestly I can't help wondering if that's just how Onew and Taemin are or if this could also be a result of the SM machine, because Amber has been very vocal about SM training being designed to break you so they can mold you.

I kinda feel that shinee was brought up that way in dance practices. Hahaha. The way they treat it as literally a dance practice/marking. Even Taemin sometimes does that. 😂 Well its actually not an issue for me because they totally change during their actual performances. I guess they are that kind of a group that prefers/enjoys more actual performances when they have interactions with their fans. Thank you for reacting to Onew's solo. I hope so much you do a full album reaction for Onew's 1st full album. I just did 2 days of his concert and the new songs are great and Circle is like only Onew... the way only Taemin does Move justice, Circle is Onew's and Kim Eana wrote the lyrics.

3:18 That chord is a G9. It a suspended chord with no 3rd that's why it feels so lifting, but what's nice is that Onew sings the 3rd over the chord which complements it in a beautiful way.

This is one of those pop songs that floats between major and relative minor - a lot of it repeats IV-V-vi (aka bVI-bVII-i in E minor) so when that G9 occurs it's a bit of a surprise and refreshing.

Ohh I didn't think you would still react to Onew. Thank you! It's always a joy to see you react to SHINee. I always think about how some your guest point at Onew after Taemin as someone they noticed due to his natural groove (when he lets himself go) and his shoulder moves on Your Number. If you are interested... he is extremely cute on mnet's On the Way performance (b-side). But, yes I agree, he seems still really shy about his dancing. Hoping he is more confident with his Japanese debut.

I’m so proud of him for this comeback. He really spoils his fans. He said that he’s somewhat shy or embarrassed to show behind the scenes of recording, or dance practice, but since he knows that the fans would like to see it he gave us two studio recording videos, a dance practice and even a dance tutorial 😭 like he doesn’t have to if he doesn’t want to but he gave us more 🥲 I think the difference between his dance practice and his live stages are bc in his live stages he chose to sing full live he had to prioritize his vocal stability and balance the dancing with it to focus on the whole performance, meanwhile in his dance practice he can fully focus on the dance moves. Also meanwhile Onew is very well known of his charming smile, I found that when he’s REALLY focused he rarely smiles 😅 he GLARES at himself when he’s monitoring his own performance bc he’s such a perfectionist, that’s why I’m also glad that he smiles a little towards the end of the dance practice video 🥲 And there’s this one live stage performance where you can hear his tiny sniffles mid-singing it’s so damn cute XD hahahaha like other artists prove their live singing by not singing some parts of song meanwhile Onew here proves his live singing with tiny sniffles 🤣

I hope you check out his other music show fancams. The fancam you watched was from his first music show stage 200414of DICE well first solo music show performance ever since he didn’t do promotions for his debut . You will notice a difference in his dancing between this performance compared to his Music Bank stage 200415 the next day. He seems a lot more comfortable and less nervous.

How I interpret the story in Onew's "Dice" MV and song is that every time Onew rolled the dice his fate changed. That is why you saw him changing his look every time he tossed the dice. Throughout the MV Onew tosses the dice thinking he needs to change his fate in order to find the girl and rescue her. However, in the end, when she steps out of the elevator, you see she also has a dice, which means she also is in control of her own fate. You discover she rolled the dice in order to defeat the monsters and to allow her to meet Onew. I interpret the song and MV to be about taking control of your own fate, and if you don't like the circumstances you are in at the moment, just roll the dice and change things. You don't have to continue to be stuck in the situation you are in if you actively work to change it. At one point you see a monster with a smashed dice in his hand, which I think is supposed to symbolize how the monsters, or bad things in your life, don't have control of your fate. If you don't give those bad people and things control of your life, you will always have a say in how your dice is rolled and where your fate takes you. And, yep, in true SHINee style, Onew brought live performances back to music shows with this comeback. Why waste your time doing a live pre-recording when your an expert like him who can sing live and sound just as good or even better. That's why SHINee are the standard and Onew is one of the premier voices in Kpop. He is one of the most coveted male vocalists in the industry that all singers dream of getting the chance to sing with for a reason. He has such impressive vocal talent and understanding of how to use his voice that he has the ability to compliment the vocal timbre and style of any song and anyone he is singing with. SHINee are known for the fact that they never go full out in dance practices, to them dance practices are just that, dance practices. They save their energy for MVs and live performances. Onew doesn't need to waste his energy dancing at full power, because he is so good at what he does that even with 50% effort he is just as good as any professional dancer. SHINee are a second generation group, so you should never expect them to do things exactly the way third and fourth gen groups do it. Second gen has always had their own style and standard. Second gen is less about showing off and more about showing what makes them experts at what they do. Plus, you have to remember that SHINee sings live, so their choreography always leaves room for them to be able to flex their vocals, which means they have to have parts where they may move less than their backup dancers because these are times when they are focusing on their vocals. However, I think in this dance practice Onew is actually intentionally using less power and not smiling as much, etc. because he is playing one of the characters from the storyline in his MV. For every live comeback performance he was playing a different character, who was dealing with a slightly different situation in the MV and each character had a little different personality. Every time he rolled the dice he did it because he wanted to change what was happening, which would also change the type of person he was. In the dance practice, he is portraying one of the more serious of his characters which is why he is intentionally not smiling or being over enthusiastic, etc. I don't think what you are seeing is that he is tired, I think it's part of his character. He's telling a story.

for the choreo, it's funny when you say he isn't fully in it, or tell him to smile, because the dance practice actually came last. we already saw the 4 live stages of this with 4 different characters and vibes (which are based on dice mv), so to us that's followed the storytelling of the live shows it was perfectly understandable to have a 5th character and vibe, the one jinki showed in the dance practice, and didn't feel like anything was missing 😂 if you want the absolute most melting character, the inkigayo stage is my bet!

I still remember one of the lives where Onew said he wasn't going to do any choreography because he wasn't good at it, and I was like... but... you're the leader of SHINee. SHINee!! I'm happy he remembered that during filming and had fun with it. I'm still so happy and proud of him 😭 Whenever I'm upset my best friend will play this on repeat in her car because it's my happy song. I can't stay upset whenever I hear this.

I absolutely love this song and am glad they didn’t give him a ballad as well. The MV is so fun. He tries to rescue her but in the end she rescues him. Isn’t that the way love can be? He was older when he got picked up as a trainee they couldn’t resist his voice. He is considered the weakest dancer in Shinee but had he debuted in a different band he would probably be somewhere in the middle.

I just love this new wave funk with the harmonies and layers that make it totally new and fresh. He wanted to show his versatility as a singer and not just as a ballad/OST singer..As a dancer I wouldn't say Onew is the best dancer, don't get me wrong he's a good dancer but what he brings to the performance is personally and emersion which is why dance practices will never be the best that Onew has got. The dice practice was not at full capacity, he said he was really shy and nervous without his SHINee brothers. If you watch all the lives in order you can see the progression of his confidence in his performances. You need to watch live of Jinki's On the Way.. it's HOT...I wasn't ready for sexy Jinki and plus the tease flash of his abs...It's not overtly sexy...pleeease it's Jinki... but it's ❤️‍🔥. And the vocals😍😍😍😍..just wow..they're bouncing all over the place...the vocal gymnastics just shows what a vocal legend he really is.

I believe Onew said he only rehearsed for 3 days before recording Mv the Dice it was the last song he chose actually he had another one but he decided on this one I think Onew doesn't have much confidence in the dance area even when the other members say otherwise and it's normal after all he has Taemin and key two dance machines without counting Jonghyun and Minho that they are very good as well and from what Key said Onew had never danced before they started training in my opinion Onew with the dance is the same as Taemin with the voice with a lot of practice and help they became ACES Onew said in the DCM promotion when talking about the solo he said he wants to do it different he wants a dance song and all the members said you should and he smiled and said after all I am SHINee In fact, all the members say that in their solo work they connect being in SHINee how being in SHINee gives them confidence that they can do it all, I remember Taemin at the photo shoot to never dance again, I believe he was on stairs and the sun was shining and he said it's because he was there and because he is SHINee I laughed a lot
