Onew wrote Way (One Star) in 2018. I think he went to Kim Eana for help with it?? The lyrics are stunning, the song gorgeous. Punch is one of Korea's best female singers and very picky about with whom she collaborates. Dice is so bright! We love Lemon Lady, too! The whole album is AMAZEBALLS and I have it on repeat. Watch the music show fancams - he's singing live! He also wrote In the Whale for shawols...yeah. My favorite theory is that Lemon Lady represents SHINee World and that while he goes to rescue her, in the end she rescues herself and then him, too. I just find it unbelievable that SHINee not only are incredible as a group, but equally outstanding as soloists. Eta: On the Way is my favorite

Thanks for showing such love and enthusiasm for Onew. He is truly special. This is such a fun video and a new side of Onew that I REALLY like, and I adore this new sound from him. I also found it cute that Onew kept the album title trend alive that was created with Taemin's first solo album, "Ace" and then Jonghyun saying he "plagiarized" Taemin's album title by rhyming his first album by using "Base". Then Key jumped on the bandwagon with "Face" and Onew with "Voice" and now "Dice". As another reactor stated, Onew and the girl are the only humans in the video. The others are robots. This is significant as it could mean that Onew and the girl are really ALIVE; INDEPENDENT -- thinking for themselves and not just following the trends, what they're told, or HIDING BEHIND MASKS. Also, from what I can understand, each roll of the dice can change the outcome of a given situation; in other words, they are not afraid of change. At first, it appears that only Onew has a die. When a die appears in the robot-like character's hand, it seems to be short-circuiting because its hand is vibrating in a slightly chaotic fashion. However, if you look at the girl's hand (right one looking at the screen) during the elevator scene when it first opens, we see that the female protagonist also has a die, so she can also change outcomes. This is my take on it anyway. Others will have more input to clarify things...lol. As a budding SHAWOL, you may recognize the SHINeeisms throughout the MV. Here are a few things that struck me after watching this for the umpteenth time: 1) The "bellhop" robots in the beginning, as well as the robots in the dining and party scene have dull, sick-colored green masks/faces. The backup dancers have the more SHINee-colored masks, making them more friendly looking towards Onew. 2) Are the robots experimenting on "sour" lemons and trying to make them into blue-green lemonade (called pearl-aqua -- SHINee's signature fandom color) that all the robots drink in order to change them into cheap imitations of SHAWOLs (SHINee fans)? OR are they turning sour lemons -- "fake/anti fans" or "saesangs" -- into real SHAWOLs through the music? In any case, the aqua lemonade color isn't quite right, but bears a striking resemblance to SHINee's drink in "Married to the Music" that changes Taemin's skin color. 3)If you look at the slime on the walls there are two different shades of aqua. The brighter blue color is the signature color for the SHINee fandom, while the other color has more of a green tint and seems duller -- jealousy perhaps? 4) The overall bold coloration of set and fashion is reminiscent of Jonghyun's "She is" and "Shinin" and SHINee's "Atlantis". 5) The party scene with bright fashion, presence of fruit -- especially lemons -- are all reminiscent to SHINee's "Married to the Music". Remember Key's decapitation scene where the severed portion of Key's neck looked like a lemon slice, eyes being knocked out, etc... 6) The nod to Taemin's chainsaw fetish in "Criminal". 7) The entire "world" Onew's in reminds us of a planet Key would discover within his "Bad Love" space explorations! 8) Although I'm still searching for any tidbits from Minho's "Heartbreak", one SHAWOL suggested the golfing scene may be a nod to Minho who loves golfing. If the golfer does represent Minho, you can see he's surrounded by the correct pearl-aqua color (protection of SHAWOLs) on the walls while a few of the greener blobs cling to it. I could be totally wrong, but it's too much fun to put forth theories.

How I interpret the story in Onew's "Dice" MV and song is that every time Onew rolled the dice his fate changed. That is why you saw him changing his look every time he tossed the dice. Throughout the MV Onew tosses the dice thinking he needs to change his fate in order to find the girl and rescue her. However, in the end, when she steps out of the elevator, you see she also has a dice, which means she also is in control of her own fate. You discover she rolled the dice in order to defeat the monsters and to allow her to meet Onew. I interpret the song and MV to be about taking control of your own fate, and if you don't like the circumstances you are in at the moment, just roll the dice and change things. You don't have to continue to be stuck in the situation you are in if you actively work to change it. At one point you see a monster with a smashed dice in his hand, which I think is supposed to symbolize how the monsters, or bad things in your life, don't have control of your fate. If you don't give those bad people and things control of your life, you will always have a say in how your dice is rolled and where your fate takes you.

If you haven't already, you should watch the animated official lyric video for "Way" ft. Punch that SM came out with before this live performance. (Which is one of the videos you see recommended at the end of this video.) Onew wrote the lyrics for this song and the lyrics make it even more beautiful. "One Star (Way)" is a pre-release single that Onew released especially for fans to tide us over until the release of his second solo album Dice, which has finally been released. His album was supposed to be released in September, but things were delayed. The song is about a couple who are longing to be reunited with each other. As the song goes along, the two realize their love is bound by fate. As the lyrics of the chorus say, “At a slightly different time / In the invisible world / One star in the same room / You and I have one name and one face.” Knowing that Onew wrote the lyrics for this song makes it that much more meaningful and emotional. I can really feel him putting his whole heart into this song and performance. This is such a perfect song for the holiday season. Full of the warm and fuzzy feelings for the holidays. I think this song is destined to become a new Kpop holiday classic. It's definitely on my holiday playlist, and it will be one I recommend anytime someone asks me for holiday song recommendations. The chills I get listening to this song seem to only grow everytime I hear it, I'm not sure I will ever become numb to the beauty of their voices and the feeling this song creates. This song really highlights what an amazing vocalists Onew is and it showcases how hard he has been working lately with his vocal training. He has always been an amazing singer -- after all he's a member of SHINee, one of the all time best vocal groups in the Kpop industry -- but this just shows how he is continuously pushing himself to become even better. Onew has said he has been focusing on his vocal training, experimenting with new ways of singing in order to showcase his full vocal range. He is now feeling more responsibility as one of SHINee's main vocalist to make sure he is able to maintain the same vocal quality that he is known for, as he ages. However, Onew is known in the industry as the male vocalist with the most consistent vocals. He has been one of SHINee's main vocalists since debut and he is recognized as one of the top vocalists in Kpop since even before debut. Onew was only one of two people ever personally cast by Lee SooMan, the founder of SM, and he was chosen at age 16 for his outstanding vocal ability. Onew's vocals are so good that as a rookie he was even a vocal coach and mentor to a lot of SM's trainees. Punch's and Onew's voices are perfect together, and I couldn't imagine a better pairing for this song. But truthfully, who doesn't sound amazing singing with Onew? He is one of the most coveted male vocalists in the industry that all singers dream of getting the chance to sing with. And if you have seen him on programs such as Sea of Hope, you will see how he can be paired with almost anyone and somehow his voice is able to highlight the other singers' voices, and take the song to a whole new level, no matter their vocal style. He has such impressive vocal talent and understanding of how to use his voice that he has the ability to compliment the vocal timbre and style of anyone he is singing with.

Onew said he choosed 6 songs for the album cause 5 members of shinee and one for the Shinee world so a big theory is that the Lemon Lady (the girl in the yellow- before the release onew said "in the mv there's a girl that resembles lemon" so shawols calls her lemon lady) represents Shinee World aka shawols At the begining of the MV Onew holds the dice showing 5 and 6 then when he sees her it shows 5 but when he decised to save the girl the dice shows 6, so he tries to save the lemon lady from that weird hotel and bet's on a dice without knowing the outcome but in the and the Shinee World (lemon lady) saves onew Also those drinks reminds everyone the weird drinks they had in Married to the music

The album is everything I could wish for! (Other than a Onew X death metal band collab - that's never happening) I think Voice was a flex and Dice ( BTW continuing the SHINee rhyming name thread :D ) is like "I'm more than just a voice" he even said the album is different sides of him. From referencing Shinee in the MV, the subtle but very real sexual inuendos, the dance, the different outfits, his acting - it's all there - stuff we don't really see as often. The voice is left in the background until you actually listen to the songs themselves and realize he sings a little differently in all of them and has actually really improved as a singer. It might be the bias, but I honestly think this album has no bad songs. He wrote lyrics for all of them and only one was chosen (in the whale) which is basically a fan song, and it has such beautiful lyrics, and idea. It's a very comforting song. He sounded a bit disappointed in Bubbl that he couldn't get more lyrics in, but accepted it was for the best. I think he said also, that singing live on most of the shows isn't to show off, but between midnight sun and promotion he has no time to prerecord anything, but I mean... come on, it is quite the flex haha On top of that, he seems to genuinely enjoy the comeback and doing all the promos and interviews - it seems like he has a good time and feels comfortable. It almost feels like Onew going to his favorite KZbinrs sometimes haha I loved that Lego building interview. Overall what a joy. I hope he wins something for this - i's unfortunate he has Big Bang's comeback and Dreamcatcher to compete with for the awards. Onew Trot album next? :D

I loved on the way from the teaser and even more with the live performance. I've always wanted him to do something jazzy for his album. I loved everything about this stage, the fashion (the fact that he's wearing a crop top but one doesn't even notice it the first time watching), his visuals/expressions, the cherry blossom set and petals thrown at the end, his live singing, the dancing, that solo segment where he's dancing with the girl. Onew said he chose 6 songs for his album because there are 5 SHINee members and that shawols would be number 6, and if you noticed, eveytime the girl shows up, he's holding the dice on number six, I suspect the girl might represent shawols and how he always wants to be there for us, but sometimes we're the ones that save him instead. "Way" still leaves me feeling emotional, too. Both Punch and Onew have such beautiful voices, and they blend so well together, too. And I love how "Dice" explores a different side of Onew and lets him be more fun. I loved the way you talked about it, though, looking at the sadness of the lyrics contrasting the brightness of the MV. I know Onew talked about that, too, that he wanted something happier, but that the song itself had an open ending and a sense of "playing a losing game." I think he really wanted to focus on the happiness and a brighter future, and that really shines through.

Buts isnt that the gift of Shinee as a whole. They do songs that you find yourself going..."so-so"....the 3 days later you are repeating it like....Oh its good. I have listened to most of heir discography....and there is No bad song...just maybe not a fav right now...but later becomes a fav....Its not something to get over....so it grows with you and the stages of your life...And for me..it could be weeks...Life can be hectic and need various tools to get thru...Shinee has been a tool of clam, peace, love, humor and just fun...

I'm pretty sure that CASA is a clothing brand (or maybe just a trendy word on a sweater), and although it means home in Spanish, I don't think it has any deep connection to the story Onew is telling in his "On the Way" song. I'm pretty sure these are just clothes his stylist put him in because they are trendy and he looked good in them -- the brand might even be a part of a company that Onew or SHINee promotes.
