Onewheel Pint X | My Review | Tips and Tricks for Beginners

Thanks for tuning in for another video! In this One I get into some of my favorite and least favorite things about the Onewheel Pint X. I talk about some of my favorite things like battery life and compact form factor and then a few things that I feel could improve in the future like the $1400 Price point and the not so sticky grip tape. In the second half of the video I give you 5 tips to help get you started on your one wheel to hopefully help your learning process go a little bit smoother.

Word of caution…I’ve had my PintX for a while, ridden over 600 miles but a couple of weeks ago hit a manhole cover wrong, came off & broke my wrist & elbow. So please wear guards, a helmet goes without saying. Be safe 👊🏻

...knees bent; are basically shock absorbers, spring and air coils all-in-one. More range of motion to absorb and react the better. Stay low, like in sports, better center of gravity. Straight legs offer no support. Think motor vehicle, no suspension means zero comfort and performance. Full and modern day suspension systems offer maximum comfort and performance.

I recently changed out the factory grip tape on my Pint X to the TFL Grip tape and omg!! what a difference!!! hahaha.

I’m probably in a similar boat to you, at about 175 miles and feel pretty good, but trying to learn riding goofy now! Crazy how hard it is to re-learn again from the other side…

The main thing i absolutely HATE about the X is the low clearance point in the front! I was going up a 15-20 degree hill and the nose scraped the floor and i took a dive. Scraped up my left hand, elbow, and bruised hip! I now purchased fangs to help alleviate that. The fender should come standard; Thats FM stealing a page off apple.

you can just buy a pint bumper and that solves your problems 😉 it just mot fots on the battery side. good luck

I can see that, you definitely have to be patient with it as you start going up a hill to avoid the dreaded nosedive. I haven’t tried the fangs yet but I’ve heard great things.

I debated it for an entire year. My only regret is not buying one sooner. It’s so damn fun. You’ll get two types of look from people. 1. That looks stupid 2. That looks awesome and I wish I had one Majority of the time it’s #2

i find skyline x way more stable to begin with rather than pacific x. i know it sounds weird, but it feels just a bit more stable going into corners. especially off-road,

That makes sense. I think for beginners the scary part is that initial takeoff and so pacific x seems to be less intimidating in that way but I agree that once you can start and stop skyline feels more comfortable because it reacts to your inputs a lot quicker.

I’m contemplating getting either the pint and the pint x, I know about all the differences but was wondering if the bulkier bottom effect turning and riding off road cause it has less clearance then the pint

I've never ridden the original pint so I can't say the difference for sure but I haven't ever felt like the clearance in the rear has been an issue because of the battery space. I ride some mellow trails but nothing too gnarly. Also never had an issue turning. The only time it gets in the way is if I'm braking hard down a steep hill it will sometimes drag a bit. Hope this helps!

The Pint X has a major design flaw in the battery housing that leads to damaged BMS balancing wires and main battery leads.

@@banta412 mine just died at 1600 miles! I was very disappointed to find zero protection for the fragile and tiny wires. I just made a post about it on the OW subreddit

@@jmueller87 I sent it to a Stoke Life Service shop for a fix. Cost $600. Future Motion refused to cover the repair and denied my claims for a recall. FFM.

Does the riding mode effect when you start to feel push back

In the more beginner oriented profile the pushback happens much earlier. In the other profiles I believe it is around the same speed.

It's actually my kiteboarding helmet. It's made by Liquid Force. I'm not totally sure what the model is called.

150lbs, smooth asphalt/concrete, no real elevation changes, pushing to 16mph mostly, i can get 23-24 miles regarding the cons, if it came with a fender it'd be another 100$ so this is not a con. the price difference also is well worth the range increase over the Pint. this is the most fun thing i've purchased in quite some time
