the stance that I ride that has helped me is to hang the back toes off and my front ankle off, this makes toe turn and heel turn a hell of a lot easier and I find more control over bumps because of this

There is no proper stance just stand however feels right in the situation. I never use just one stance while riding. I move around on the pad as needed. You dont need you foot in any particular place to turn better. It's all about using your feet and legs right to turn and rotate at the same time.
@SlideWreckDan

There might not be a 'right stance' but different stance positions can help you achieve certain riding characteristics. Certain stances can help with rotation / carving to be a lot easier.

Pro tip. Once you find a comfy foot position trace your feet with a silver sharpie or paint marker and always know where you stand. Obviously you can use any color you like but silver stands out quite nicely.

I find I prefer a duck stance for most situations as it is easy to go into switch. I am however trying to get more comfortable in different stances as I find that they are situational. If I'm attempting to Bonk or curb drop I prefer to have a narrow stance so my front foot has room to move forward as I'm changing levels. I've also been practicing changing stance as I ride so I can change stance on the fly as the situations necessitate. I'm still a noob and only just over 200 miles in on my pint. I try to never get too comfortable so as not to limit my stance options. I feel we all have our preferred stance but should also be able to ride in any stance to be able to react and/or recover from any situation. Some nice tips here . Keep it up!

Nice video , but you didn’t mention anything about angle of back foot.... i would consider you a duck stance type \. / , i ride goofy too, but i have been riding with my back foot / left foot in the same angle of my right front foot... it forces me to turn my shoulders forward and upper body faces direction i am riding / / ...... i saw this on another vloggerss video, i think it mimics snowboarding!? Give it a try... also my back foot, my toes hang off the front edge about an inch, and my front foot, toes are even to edge of board and heel hangs off 1 inch, gives me more carving ability!!!!

i just started riding... have about 200 miles logged.. i installed the flight fins last night. Not that i"ll be flying anytime soon. But, they add some much needed stability. gives me something to lean against kinda.. its like it gives me some leverage.. way less sketchy now.
@SlideWreckDan

Haven't thought about the stability thing of tucking in your feet. That's pretty neat!
@RG-fp1lg
@RG-fp1lg 3 жыл бұрын
I have seen other videos saying put feet as close as you can do the wheel, but I think I'm just too big to get comfortable with that. It feels so unstable and I wobble like crazy that way.
@SlideWreckDan
@SlideWreckDan 3 жыл бұрын
There's pros and cons to each stance. I kinda go through it and try to explain it in the video. If you put your feet close together it's easier to turn, but might be hard on your feet, legs, and overall balance if you're not used to it. If you want better carving starting off, you may just want to have the front foot closer as the rear foot stabilizes the board a lot.

You put your dominant foot in the back not the front. I'm regular and right foot dominated. My right foot goes in the back. What you said at 1:20 makes no sense.

I jump and land on my right. But I ride with my left? 🤔 riding with right forward just feels too sketchy to me. Also my walking pattern is the same. Charlie Chaplin style 🙈

Hey, whatever makes you comfortable is the 'right' one. noo pun intended.. I'd say give it a few days of practice on each side and you'll come to know which one best suites you. And you get to learn how to ride switch haha

Everything will be the same except the foot placement is flipped. So your left foot will go forward at the sensor facing the other way.

My foot fatigue is aweful. I can ride for about an hour then i have to sit down or walk it off because my feet go numb? Idk if its these shoes or??
@SlideWreckDan
@SlideWreckDan 4 жыл бұрын
I have pretty bad foot fatigue too. You're not alone haha. It can be a combination of a lot of things. Shoes, stance, lack of carving, etc. I honestly though end up just taking a break after a while. When my feet are at a standing position for a long time it tends to cramp up and fall asleep. Carving can help alleviate it a little, but usually it's not enough for me.
@tomservo3401
@tomservo3401 4 жыл бұрын
I think carving does help but thats only if i can. If im riding down a narrow sidewalk with cars zooming past me at 55mph. I also think having to keep my feet in the same position while riding takes a toll. moving my back foot around, lifting my heel and rolling it on its edge helps but my front I dare not tempt fate lifting my heel or rolling it on its edge moving it around.
@landotx

Do you have the regular and goofy foot placement backwards? It sounds like you said your dominant foot should go forward.
@SlideWreckDan
@SlideWreckDan 4 жыл бұрын
Goofy means right foot forward and Regular is left foot forward. Dominant foot hasn't to do with whether you're right handed or left handed if you do the run up test you can find out which is your 'dominant'. Hope that answers your question?
@landotx
@landotx 4 жыл бұрын
Seems like at 1:26, it conflicts with the first part of the video that establishes which foot should go forward.
@SlideWreckDan
@SlideWreckDan 4 жыл бұрын
@@landotx No, it's still consistent. Whatever foot you land on is your 'dominant foot' so that foot will go forward. If it's the right foot, you're a goofy. If it's the left foot, you're a regular. Some people are ambidextrous though and can ride both sides with no issues.
@landotx
@landotx 4 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure your incorrect. Your dominant foot goes in the rear.
