I primarily ride street, with a little trails if it's in between where I'm at and where I'm going. I'm working on some stylistic street riding at the moment. Curb nudges, little 180's, things like that. And I've just been wondering if there's a better tire out there than the stock Vega. It's hard to find a video about tires for just street and minor off-road riding. I live in a city, so the Vega often picks up pieces of glass, which I'm worried about. I've been wondering if a treaded tire might help. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Your videos are awesome, my friend. Thank you for your time today. 🙏

For tire psi I go with my weight/10 but I'm currently running a slick Maxxis EL tire 11x6x6.0. It's very grippy and stable. Handles the off road conditions well as it's actually a dirt oval racing tire. Been running it for 750 miles now without a problem.

I have the Burris treaded too. It's a nice tire, but it is loud compared to a slick. Flight fins just announced a whisper treaded tire today!

Scot, is the treaded Hoosier you were riding the Flight Fins one? The FF Hoosier Terrain that I ride is 6" wide, not 5.5, and is very stable. And the next tire you review should be the FF Hoosier Terrain 2, which is also 6" wide and halfway between a slick and a treaded ("the lightest treaded tire on the market," they say), and supposedly makes less noise, as well as being stable, but carvy. And no, I do not work for Flight Fins. I am just your normal person who, like everyone else, feels they have to convince others that their purchase decisions were the best decisions ever. But I do love my Hoosier. Great fishing expedition! It is now clear that your kids are literally hooked on Onewheels ;)

The 5.5 is not from Flightfins. It is the one on the craftandride website. I have tried both the 5.5 and the flightfins 6 and I prefer the flightfins 6 much better. It carves deep but is wide and stable like a vega. The 5.5 is round, squirrely and very hard to stay balanced. They are entirely different tires

Hey Scott Did you notice a difference in the hardness of the rubber. My son has a pint with the stock Vega and I feel like the rubber doesn’t get tiny rocks stuck in it. My XR picks up any small rock I run over and flips it into my fender. Was curious if you noticed any differences with the buris or Hoosier?

Hi Scot, I just had posted my impressions of my new Vega yellow tire that I just got back today from the shop on your other video that talked about tires. In short, it is a 6-inch Vega slick that is far more carvier then the stock Vega slick. Also, because it is a softer compound, it feels grippier while being carvier. I think it is a great option for people like me and you the love the stock Vega but want something a little different.

Awesome video as always!! All your boys look so much like you, especially Inspire! So I do own a Whisper tire from Craft&Ride and it is phenomenal in the aspect or how quiet it is. More quieter than the Vega and carvier since it is a 6". On top of that, my range before used to be 18mi, whereas now it's gone up to 25mi. I do own that same exact Hoosier treaded and I didn't mind how it felt like a pint, but I might get either that Burris you have or the FF Hoosier treaded 6". These treaded tires are just better off for hardcore trail riding going around 15-16mph and not worrying about sliding out when you carve over rocks and debris. Also I find the treaded tire is great on wet pavement going at a faster speed while carving too. Keep on with these great content!

Have you taken a look at the tire reviews on shreddlabs? They rate the stability of the Vega at 10 while the Flightfins hoosier is a 9 and the Burris treaded is a 7 in stability. The Hoosier 5.5 you tried is at a 3/10 on stability. The Burris treaded is rounder than the Flightfins Hoosier so if stability and a wider tire is what you want, I think you would really like the FF Hoosier treaded. The Vega treaded also looks like a flat and stable profile, but I have not tried that tire

Great vid 👌 Why not the Hoosier FF (Flight Fins) treaded though ? It’s literally created for the Onewheel. Those others are created for go carts. My personal favourite is the Hoosier FF Whisper. It’s so smooth, stable, sticky and carvable. Like snow boarding on pavement. 50% of my riding is off road and it performs great on dirt. A lot better than the Vega. I personally wouldn’t run a treaded tire unless majority of my riding was off-road and I was seriously pushing it. Give the Whisper a try. Would love to see a review about it 👍

take a bunch of air pressure out of Inspire's pint. It is way hard for his weight and is making it so dodgey... best pressure starts at weight divided by 10 for road and by 12 for off road. So you are way way down their. It will make it much more compliant so it does not hunt right left on rocks and features. Also take him out of elevate mode if he is on it. Looked like it in the video. Defiantly tire is WAY to hard for him.

Thanks for sharing this and being honest about the comparison with the Vega. I don't think treads actually increase traction in any case but riding through puddles, the purpose of treads on vehicles is really just to give better traction on wet roads by giving channels for displaced water to go into. You need knobby or studded tires for increased offroad traction. Try and find a "treaded" mountain bike tire, one that is mostly smooth with grooves cut into it. I doubt you will be successful. I really love the onewheel with the Vega tire, especially after finding the right pressure for my ride. There's so many people on the internet that talk like the Vega is useless garbage and anyone who enjoys riding it is just naive. But it does everything I want it to do and doesn't do anything I don't want it to do. I think FM made a good choice with it.
