Awesome review. My 655 just arrived. You've confirmed my plan. I have two GT boards so I'm going to run the 655 Enduro on one and Burris on the other (similar to your Vega). Enduro will be for pavement / dry conditions, Burris will be for wet/muddy. I live in the northeast so the conditions will change by the day, especially this time of year.

Nice, I've been curious to try the burris tx-22 in the mud. A lot of people have said it's a really good all around tire. I opted for the vega w6 though for the super aggressive tread. It does really well in the mud, snow and ice.
@garrymullins9 ай бұрын
@@irionmotorsports Yea it's probably in between Enduro and Vega/Pioneer. I've ridden Enduro (6.5) and it slips easily on wet grass for example whereas the Burris (tx-22) I have doesn't. Vega probably makes more sense for your riding, sounds like. But I do a lot of pavement so it's nice to have a more hybrid option that feels good on pavement but also bites fairly well into wet grass, soggy gravel, mud, snow. I might still buy Pioneer 5 inch when it becomes available. Next winter I'd run Burris / Pioneer, ditch Enduro for the winter.

Yeah, if TFL came out with a 5" pioneer I would run it all year round.

Great review, thanks for going thru all the different options. Lets see the trails now!
@irionmotorsports9 ай бұрын
Thanks man! Is that something you want to see? I always get bored watching videos of people riding their onewheels around. It doesn't seem like you can tell much about the tire from that kind of footage, so I didn't include any.
@TimsTown9 ай бұрын
@@irionmotorsports Yeah, I think you should have ended it with a small trail ride at least! Always like to see what other people are riding. Everyone seems to like riding street, but for me trails are the only way to go. Float on!

Nice review! I’m so thankful you did show me 25 minutes of riding your OneWheel and then just comment at the end saying something like , “Yeah, this tire rips!” 😂 This was my type of review. You shared info, experience, comparisons, and got the new tire on and gave us a little heads up on how the new tire feels. I appreciate that.

Thanks man! It drives me nuts when I watch a tire review and it's just some guy riding it around for 20 min. Appreciate the feedback.

@@irionmotorsports hey man have you ever messed around with making a GTR? I’m curious what the XR hub and tire would feel like on a GT. I might have an option for that before i can save up the money for a 5” hub.
@irionmotorsports8 ай бұрын
No, the gts is much better suited to the n52 magnets. If you put an XR hub on it you would lose a lot of torque. I'm a heavy rider an often carry heavy items and kids on my onewheel, so the torque is the most important thing for me. I don't have a gt, but you probably wouldn't notice much of a difference in torque. I just don't know if it would be worth it. You're only gaining 1/2" in diameter which is 1/4" of sidewall. If you try it out, let me know how you like it.

Yeah, I realized after I made the video that I forgot to talk about psi. I put 15 in it to start, but I'm going to try lowering it and see how it responds.

Thanks for the video. What is the "squarest" most stable tire for the 5" hub? I have an 11"x6.0-6 Hoosier on my V1 - which I love, and apparently the same on my XR. But the XR tire is a "Float life" variant of the Hoosier... I guess... and it's much rounder. I didn't know this until I had bought them. I hate them. It scares the life out of me as it doesn't feel as "planted". I am old (56) so maybe I am not as thrill-seeking. I am nervous I'll end up with another tire that I don't like and I find it a pain in the butt to change the tires - which you make look easy. I've done 10,000 miles on the V1 so I have probably become very used to the "square" Hoosier. I would really appreciate your advice. Many thanks.

I'm afraid I can't give you any recommendations based on personal experience. I'm always trying to avoid this because the sharp shoulder makes it harder to carve. The early OW tires were just standard kart tire which they try to keep as flat as possible for maximum contact patch. I would look for an 11x7-5. The 7" width with give you maximum stability, assuming your OW can handle it. Is this for a GT, or did you get a 5" hub for your XR? Hoosier makes an 11x7.1-5 that will fit on the gt and has got to be super stable. cometkartsales.com/collections/tires/products/hoosier-r55-11x7-10-5-slick-tire. There's also a burris tx11 if you want treaded. cometkartsales.com/collections/tires/products/burris-11x7-00-5-tx-11. Good luck. Let me know what tire you end up going with and how you like it.

@@irionmotorsports Hi. Thanks so much for your reply. First, I am a dumb ass, I said "Float Life" variant of the tire, I meant "Flight Fins" - they did a collaboration with Hoosier and made a unique tire. I guess this was much more rounded. I have 3 x XR's now - quite ridiculous because I just keep using the V1 with my 11"x6.0-6 Hoosier tire. I love the stability of this tire. I keep using the V1 as it is so beaten up that I don't care what happens to it... but it just keeps going. And the weather can be quite awful here in the UK (I live in Oxfordshire) and I don't stress about the rain/snow/mud, etc. and I don't mind if it eventually breaks - and if I get hauled up by the police and the board is taken from me, then it's probably less than £500 that I'll lose. They are illegal in the UK. And I want to finally break 10,000 miles too... and I'm at about 9.5k at the moment. So my goal is to move to the XR's. I don't have anything else and don't want to go for the GT's etc, as there is no way I want to get involved in "bricking" it due them being awkward with the newer models - as in they have "locked them down" - a bit like the iPhones from what I understand. I haven't bought a 5" hub yet - partly due to them always being "sold out" and partly because I don't know which one to get. 1WheelParts or Float Life? I don't know. But the added tire wall and sponginess looks very cool to me - and I'm just trying desperately to figure out what to buy. My main concern is the tire, as I don't want it to be too "carvy" as I find it a bit too much (feels like the tire is like a ball). I prefer it being planted and going straight is more preferential to me. Thanks again for your comments - I really appreciate your help! All the best, Duncan.

I had tfl 655. Went to vega w6 due to grip issues. W6 heads and tails grippier especially in the mud. But spring is here and going back to tfl 6.5!!!
@irionmotorsports9 ай бұрын
Are you sure? The 655 just came out around two weeks ago. I ordered it the day it dropped and made this video the day it arrived. Maybe you had the 555? I agree on the grip. I messaged tfl the other day and they said they will be coming out with a 5" pioneer soon. I'm hoping I can run that year round instead of the vega.
