Fasting perpetually is called keto dieet. It is one of the most important things I did for my practice. I think this is very important. It would be more than wonderfull if a more known voice would say some more about this one day. In my city it is now researched for healing depression. This may well be a gamechanger that will be spreading across the globe. See Dr. Boz keto continuum for good information. She is also on youtube. Getting GKI under two is marvelous.

Thanks Jason, inspired by your video, have tried to reflect on what you said thus; the electricity passing through a refrigerator, electric bulb, laptop etc is the same. Electricity while within the appliance and outside in the electrical duct that is powering the plug point always remains to be the same electricity. However while the electricity is within the appliance, there is a certain perceivable function; like serving as a grinder, or as an air cooler or a computation device etc. The electrical appliance is inert unless powered on. Truth in the context of Upanishads is changeless. That which changes with time is called maya or appearance. In this analogy, the electrical appliance is inert, then powered on to function and then goes back to inert when powered off, or broken. But electricity remains the same before and after and during the course of transit within the electrical appliance. The ignorance is, when the electrical appliance identifies itself with the inert appliance; instead of realizing that the source of its function and ability to have a first person experience is the changeless electricity. The Mahavakyas of the Upanishads points the appliances/humans to their source of changeless power; that operates within and outside of them.

@@aum82 We are all students of the same subject, so will go ahead and share some more. There is one more genius whom Jason has covered, named Ashtavakra; whose conversation with king Janaka is captured in a text called Ashtavakra Gita. Well, as per Ashtavakra, where is the need for sadana? The electrical appliance is inert (called jada in sanskrit), and electricity is ever free and does not change at all times (called chitta). Self realization or Jeevan Mukta is only in the context of the appliance while the electricity is passing though it, recognizes that the appliance is jada, temporary and life force/electricity is changeless permanent. Electricity is our absolute reality. No matter how many ever electrical appliances, the electricity passes; not even one aspect of the appliance sticks to the electricity. Electricity remains formless; attribute less (is it a particle or a wave :)) and does not get cold when it passes through an air conditioner, or become hot when it goes through a bread toaster (electricity, not the wire that carries it). All of the Mahavakyas seem to urge us to recognize the permanent and identical electricity present inside and outside of us; and corrects our identification with that of the jada to the chitta. One might ask, what is wrong in identifying with the human body and mind ; jada? The fact is Jada is a temporary accumulation of food from the planet. In the dream state the jada is temporary accumulation of the mental images. Mind is also a jada. When a light passes through a colored ruby, the light appears red; does it mean that the light has now been painted in red? So too, when electricity flows through an electrical appliance, electricity appears to be a functional appliance. Appearances are deceptive :) From one student to another.

7:00 it’s interesting what you say about reciting such a mantra. Intuitively I did used to walk around reminding myself “in inner dialogue” of the truth but it initially felt a bit daft. It wasn’t like trying to convince myself as that was wholly unnecessary once recognised but it was a kind of embedding of the truth throughout the psyche I guess.

Jason is getting very good at this. Anybody with a little bit if motivation towards spirituality, in due course of introspection, arrives at the understanding that 'I' must be a spirit that has existence and is Conscious but cannot be seen: as, I am not anything that is an object of my thought. That spirit is called the Atman. Hence the following logic: 1. Aham Atman ( I am a spirit or Atman - one has kind of vaguely arrived at this) 2. Ayam Atma Brahma ( This spirit is Brahman or collective of spirits, but a single entity - this I can know only by being introduced to the Upanishad by a Guru who says 'Tatvamasi' or thou art that - Brahman)) 3. Aham Brahmasmi ( the conclusion arrived from statement 2) 4. Pragnaanam Brahma (I do not know yet the nature of Brahman. Hence Guru says this aphorism which means Consciousness is Brahman & vice versa). One now starts wondering what exactly Consciousness could be. The Guru lets you know that Consciousness blesses the mind with light of knowledge by which it can know all things to be known. He further says that it is eternal, the basis of everything else but all things happen in its mere presence and that it is a mere witness without the mind. As it is all pervading it is available immediately everywhere. With this understanding if one keeps meditating, giving primacy only to this knowledge, forsaking every thing else, one becomes ONE with THAT. Forsaking all else is a must, as all others stem from the mind and we can easily trapped by temptations of the world. The happiness we enjoy by contact with the world is actually the joy of Atman to whom we return at the moment of enjoyment. This internalisation and assimilation is a fairly long process and can span incarnations. But knowledge once arrived at stays with one without much slip ups. This is also guaranteed by Lord Krishna in Bhagavat Gita and other Rishis in various scriptures.

@@colinjohnrudd That is true. It needs to be proved .In this, you are the laboratory, the equipment, the observer and the observed. So only you can reach any conclusion about yourselves. Time consuming job, so you have to decide whether you want a proof or go gallivanting around the world. Will not be surprised if you chose that path, but sometime or other, in anyone of your future incarnations you will return and continue! There is no getting around.

Something I have never quite understood, Jason, is why have 2 terms Atman and Brahman if they're the same thing? Isn't Atman sort of like the advanced concept of the Soul which has eternal validity (doesn't have to reside in the "jar")? Does the Tao play takeaway - "here's you individuality but you have to ultimately give it back?" I agree with almost all the ideas you discuss on the channel and have read much of it on my own. But i can't help but stick stubbornly to the eternal validity of the Soul (which of course is almost infinitely more than an earthly Jiva or personality). I loved (and had never read) the quote about the bow and arrow.

Atman isn’t real but content appearing in ultimate reality. Just like a soccer ball isn’t anything but leather with inflated air, we coin a term soccer ball for conceptual understanding. This is needed to navigate reality but isn’t ultimate reality.

I have an analogy or two that might help. Imagine that the thing that is you, Atman, is a glass of water taken from the ocean, Brahman. Perhaps when enlightenment happens, the glass disappears and you realize that you are Brahman. Yet the body still exists. It continues until the time of it's death. Atman has reunited with Brahman. Atman seemingly disappears because it has become fully merged with Brahman. When it is said that there is no you there, to me, that is an awkward way of explaining how it works. Of course there is a you there. We're talking about it. We all are individuals. When the mental barriers are removed, it's like removing all of the layers of an onion. At the center is the truth of what you are. Remove all of the layers of an onion and you'll find that the onion was fully composed of layers and nothing more. Remove all of the layers and the you can't be seen. The identity you believe is you, _were_ the layers. When the layers are gone, the barriers to the truth, what remains is Brahman, Tao, universal consciousness, or whatever term we care to give. What is difficult to understand is that concept of allness that Brahman is. It is impossible to use words or physical terminology to perfectly describe it. When you get there, it will hit you that there is nothing there. Only experiencing it gives clarity.

Why have two Brahmans? Saguna and Nirguna. It has all to do with your preferred path of learning (the path of yoga you choose to follow.) Eventually, everything reduces to One, and you experience that Atman alone is. One that happens, then you have revealed that you are, indeed, Nirguna Brahmin.

All the great sages say the same thing. The individual identity does not exist. It is illusory. You are a character in a dream. Characters in dreams do not learn or grow. And characters in dreams don't wake up. Practicing spirituality is a function of the ego, there is no one practicing. If you have a spiritual experiece. It is a function if the ego. There is no to have the experience. If you believe you can become enlightened, that us the ego speaking, there is no one to become enlightened. Can Bugs Bunny become enlightened? Human beings do not exist, the planet is uninhabited. There us no one to teach, and noone to learn. If the dreamer wakes up and you disappear, it will have nothing to do with what an imaginary character does in a dream. It will be unexplainable, unearned, spontaneous grace.

Remember dear One that we are all children of God created in His image. 🙏 We are all Eternal Divine Sparks of Consciousness. Each of our Eternal Divine Sparks of Consciousness is 1/10,000th the size of a tip of a hair. 🙏 Time is an illusion. Everything is happening Now. All of our past and future lives are happening in this Now moment. Everything already exists in the ether. Prayer is talking to God and meditation is quieting the mind to listen to God. Saints don't lie and Saint Augustine said: "GOD LOVES EACH OF US AS IF THERE WERE ONLY ONE OF US." Matthew 7:7 "Ask and ye shall receive. Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened." Matthew 21:22 "Whatsoever ye shall ask for in prayer believing ye shall receive." Śrī Ramakrishna said, "Weep at least once to see God." And Śrī Paramahansa Yoganandaji said, "Pray to God, I am Thy child, made in Thine image. Make me One with Thee." Peace be with you dear One. One love always 🙏💜🕊🕉✡️⚛️☪️☯️✝️🕉
