I've been digesting your videos now for 4 days straight. I have laughed out loud many times. I have become open to many new ideas. You have been pushing me past my first love yogic philosophy although I could never leave my beloved Bhagavan. But now I want more and you started this or more accurately re-started my obsession. To my great embarrassment you have taught me that I am under read. So much study is needed so I started with one of your books. Thank you for your nonthreatening teaching style. You are wierd and wonderful.

Jason, I fully agree with you when you point out that the first four verses of Yogasutras of Patanjali being very important. They certainly lay the foundation, upon which the Yoga philosophy itself is masterfully built into the practice format. My personal thoughts on sanskrit words: Words such as yoga, chitta, vritti, nirodha, etc. have multiple meanings. The context of usage becomes the guiding light. Furthermore, some of these words also tend to have an esoteric meaning, especially when interpreted and understood in the context of tightly packed individual sutras format.

Jason, you have great (one on one). The ability to use a mike and camera lense to the point of creating the feeling that you are sitting in the living room and carrying on a personal conversation with one person. I confess that I have difficulty understanding Indian spirtuality. But, you have cracked thru in a few areas and motivated me to study these subjects further. Don't meen to embarrass you, but you have a gift.

Thank you my dear friend. I'm so glad that you feel that way. I think its really important to develop a close relationship with my audience. So that you feel like it is a conversation means I'm doing my job right. Thank you brother.

This guy is good at breaking yoga down into its essence and foundations. Other people might give some long winded, esoteric speech that is unnecessary and will make yoga seem hard to comprehend and the goals unachievable. Jason is right on point with his explanation. I especially, like how he states how yoga, vedanta, and buddhism are alike, because it is true. I've been studying Indian thought systems for awhile now and can't help but see how they are all variations on the same theme, even though their goals and methods for achieving those goals take separate paths. All in all I'd recommend this guy to explain philosophies, concepts, ideologies, etc., anytime.🙏

I appreciate your video and your explanations on the meaning of the word 'atha'. Please keep in mind that Hatha Yoga is also a yoga path.

Very interesting content. I'd love to see a breakdown of the main Eastern philosophies/religions, when they arose, from where, etc, and how similarliliy they compare.

Great explanation Jason! I feel like I have a clear mind after doing yoga, which enables me remain open for all the things that come to my awareness. Throughout the practice I realize how I actually can access deep emotions and process them. After all, the experience in the everyday life is like you physically do less but achieve more because every action is beeng done with such great awareness and less force.

I actually have a preaty great book on Hatha Yoga and even a large portion of the book is devoted to physical poses it also takes the effort to take at least a little bit of time to talk about the philosophical aspects of Yoga in addition to meditation and the Chakra system.Even though this book that I read seemed to be mostly about Hatha Yoga I certianly appreciate the fact that the author was willing to take at least some time to talk about the more spiritual, philosophical and esoteric aspect of yoga.

So according to the Yoga Sutras, the real objective is to deeply meditate to disentangle our pure awareness/ Purusha from the chaotic energy / Prakriti ? I meditate every day , but I do not do any of the typical yoga asanas or pranayama. It seems to me that if this is true , then the ‘commercial’ exploitation of Yoga in the Western world has fallen by the wayside completely! What a sham ! Namaste 🙏

Wish you knew how to pronounce Patanjali...so easy to get the a's mixed up...otherwise, very interesting.
