The toy manufacturer fucked up and made the N on Cortex's forehead silver, and rather than change the paintjobs on all of the toys that had heen produced, a Universal exectutive ordered for the shittiest photoshop job on the box art ro make Cortex's N silver instead of black. From that point on, Cortex's N was changed in all of the subsequent games to be a metal plate instead of the tattoo Naughty Dog intended.
