I wonder if the boulder levels would have been affected on the PAL version running at lower framerates, which Chris more than likely would have played before. Depending on how the game is programmed, a lower framerate may result in a slower boulder.

Depth perception is really strange in the original Crash games if you're playing on a modern tv. If you're playing on tv from the 90s, it isn't as noticeable, but there are still weird camera angles

Also, in Crash 2, the boulder will slow down if you die to it enough. i don't think Crash 1 does that unless it's the remaster. You also can walk on the ropes, but the angle is so precise that it's easier to play it normally, but use the rope as a double jump. The pill-shaped hitbox in the remake makes walking on it almost impossible, but the relic times assume that the player knows to jump off the rope

I'm this way with the the BordeLands games. They are RIDDLED with flaws, definitely not able to reach their full potential, but despite this I quite enjoyed them. I got 200+ hours in both 1 and 2 (counting DLCs).
