CORRECTION ON SAIPO DROPT THIS PERCENTAGE Sorry guys for the confusion! The correct amount of AHAs is 4%. I'm still confirming with Saipo, but I think it's 2% Glycolic, 1% Lactic and 1% Citric. Update ko ulit ito once I get an answer from them! 🧡

Thank you for this very informative video, Jan. If local brands are really good now, why do dermatologists still recommend products like Cerave, Cetaphil, La roche, Celeteque, Dove?
@OngielАй бұрын
Welcome! :) There's a lot of factors why that's so: • Ok din naman talaga sila Cetaphil, La Roche, etc. High quality, and very gentle brands that work for even the most sensitive skin types. • It's usually these big brands that have the budget to reach out to dermatologists; some of them are even owned by pharma companies (e.g. Galderma owns Cetaphil). So, they send them samples, may stalls sila lagi sa derma events, and they even invite derms to work together with the brand, etc etc. As a result, mas ditong brands naeexpose ang mga dermatologists, and since ok naman sila na brands, derms tend to recommend them. • Dermatologists are also quite busy treating people's skin, so they usually don't have the time to update themselves with new skincare products, lalo na sa local market where it's not always easy to spot. • In your list of examples na brands, may local brand! Celeteque is a local brand :) and dahil owned sila by Unilab, a pharma company, kaya may budget sila to reach out to derms, like I mentioned a previous example ko. So big part of it is how they expose themselves sa derms talaga :)

@Ongiel Salamat, I wanted to ask my dermatologist about this but baka rude sakanila haha. Very interesting kase how my friends, even with different dermatologists, all end up using the same brands I mentioned above for years. I might try Saipo, to see if it holds up to the standards I have of brands kagaya ng Cetaphil that have proven studies behind them. Haven’t really tried local products before, but nakakacurious. Hoping for a good experience with Saipo.
@lisieltaneza3845Ай бұрын
I think those brands are mild yet highly effective, especially if you have sensitive skin. I used to struggle with chicken skin, particularly on my legs. I tried Neostrata AHA, and while it worked well, it was quite pricey. About six months ago, I switched to CeraVe SA Lotion, and it has been just as effective! Then, I added BLK AHA, which was recommended here on this channel. I tried it on my bum, and it works amazingly well too!

Clarification po! Regarding sa Saipo Toner, why is the salicylic acid listed before glycolic acid sa full ingredient list when the SA is only 2% and GA is 3%?
@OngielАй бұрын
Thank you for this! Tanungin ko si Saipo, actually mali rin yung paglagay ko ng percentage, 5% AHA lang ata sila and not 7%. Na-mix up ko siya with the Goodal Exfoliant na may ganitong percentage 😅 Sorry about this! I'll update with a pinned post sa comments!

Yes, there are many serums with multiple ingredients like niacinamide, retinol, and others. However, some of these serums may lack sufficient concentrations of active ingredients, which can make them take longer to show effective results. For retinol to be effective, it should have a concentration of at least 0.3%, and AHA should be at least 10%. However, these products can be pricey, and many do not disclose the percentage of their active ingredients.
@OngielАй бұрын
Many dermatologists would disagree on your remark about AHA and retinol. First off, there are many high quality clinical trials that show that 0.1% retinol has significant effect on signs of aging. Meanwhile, 4-7% AHAs not only work as a hydrating ingredient, but have also proven to be effective exfoliants at that percentage, helping not just with hyperpigmentation but also collagen stimulation. It's not true that it needs to be 10%. Moreover, not everyone can tolerate the said percentages (0.3% retinol and 10% AHAs) which is why lower concentrations exist. Concentrations are important, yes-it's important not to buy a product with 0.00001% retinol or 0.1% AHAs. But lower concentrations like 0.1-0.2% retinol and 3-9% AHAs have significant merit especially for beginners and sensitive skin types. Skincare is not just about a specific percentage that will work for everyone, but it's also putting into context people's skin tolerance and skin suitability. Your statement about lacking sufficient concentrations, with many brands not disclosing them, and with pricier brands being the only ones disclosing the percentages might have been true in 2015 to 2021. But in 2024, it's simply not a hard truth anymore. Retinol percentages, niacinamide percentages, and even exfoliant percentages have been continued to be disclosed by local brands that have adapted to the request of the community. It's become a practice for many brands in the industry, so much so that the market is loaded with just 10% Niacinamide Serums, just 0.1% retinol serums, and just 2% BHA or 5-7% AHA exfoliants with nothing that can set them apart aside from price. That's why what are standing out now are brands that not only have a significant percentage of actives, but also have supporting actives that work even in much lower concentrations, which is what some Filipino brands are leaning onto now. It's not just about having a serum with a certain concentration anymore, but also what actives are there to support it, even if these supporting actives are at lower concentrations.
@lisieltaneza3845Ай бұрын
@@Ongiel There are so many skincare products that don’t deliver results yet are very expensive. For example, I tried OLAY 24 MAX, which contains niacinamide and retinol, but it didn’t disclose the percentage of its ingredients. Despite the high cost, it didn’t work well for me based on my experience. I always prioritize quality, even if it’s pricey. Over the years, I’ve tried numerous skincare products, and so far, the best ones for me are OBAGI and Neostrata. These brands were introduced to me by a dermatologist, and though they are expensive, the technology behind them is truly different. They’re effective enough to save you trips to the dermatologist. I also have very sensitive skin and can easily develop allergies, so finding the right products has been challenging. OBAGI and Neostrata have been worth the investment in my case. However, I’ve never tried our own local brands yet, but I’m looking forward to exploring them since they’re more affordable. I recently tried the AHA body lotion you recommended before from BLK, and it’s amazing! It’s more affordable than Neostrata AHA but works just as well, if not better. The best advice I can give to everyone is to start using sunscreen at a young age. It’s one of the most effective ways to protect your skin and maintain its health over time.
@fenrirlunaris2454Ай бұрын
@@lisieltaneza3845I think it's not the percentage but the product's delivery mechanism to the skin, plus everyone's skin varies due to genetics, so some products might work well for some but not for everyone. I think you're pointing out more on about the delivery mechanism of the product rather than its percentage. Also, our skin isn't stagnant, it can change due to weather or hormones and other factors, this year, I had an oily skin type at the start of the summer, while rn I noticed I have a much drier skin.
