@iggyeo64586 жыл бұрын
Ramza is so basic. there's almost nothing save some squire skills to separate him from every character in the game. Delita on the other hand trained to become as powerful as he could. He thought he needed that power to succeed in his goal. That's what makes Ramza the best FF character for me.. he is just a person who has shunned his lineage after finding out the truth. He proves you don't need ultimate power to succeed, and that one person on their own can change the world.

Wiegraf would hit you with Lightning Stab for 144 damage a turn, and it was almost impossible to stay out of range of it. The easiest way to win was to set Auto-Potion as your counter, and drop everything except X-Potions (heal 150). The "having multiple saves" part refers to the fact that if you were underleveled and couldn't beat this fight, it was the second or third in a chain battle sequence where you couldn't return to shops or level on the overworld.

I LOVE the first Tactics Ogre. The thing that makes Tactics Ogre better then Final Fantasy Tactics is, first you got 10 toons you can use(unlike in FFT, 5 max, and if there are Guests you even have less ugh) and then all the design failures with Speed, cast time of spells and the like. If you level up past level 50 and you try to fight Monsters, they hit so hard and Spells take AGES to be cast ... allot characters get a turn 3 times before the spell i cast! So stupid ... But the story was top notch.
@kingofbudokai7 жыл бұрын
I don't think you understand how charge time works in tactics. You can cast most spells, and even summons, without any character getting more than 2 turns 100% of the time. most spells and summons you can cast before enemies even get close enough to stop you, and i've literally never seen a character act 3 times before i cast something. Plus, there are truly broken shenanigans i love doing. Dual weilding rune blade knights with calc skill casting holy for no charge time on multiple targets? Yes please lol.

FFT's story is so good because they don't have any wacky concepts to introduce. As the main series goes along there are just weirder and farther out concepts you have to wrap your head around to understand the story. Like in 7, you can pretty easily grasp the planet using spirit energy to heal itself. Ok. But in 8, you've got witches from the future possessing people and trying to bring about time compression, whatever that is, and also there's this notion that the moon cries monsters onto the earth, what? And then in 10 they're just throwing terms at you. Sin, Fayth, sending--it all makes sense but you have to really do a lot of homework just to understand what's going on at the base level. 13 is even worse--pulse, cocoon, fal'cie... basically the more glossary words you have to translate to make sense of something, the less comprehensible it is. FFT is medieval fantasy political intrigue with demon-worshiping knights in the background manipulating it all. The only special words you need to look up are the zodiac stones, but just remember they house demons and that's all you need to know.
@Laurell_Silentshade5 жыл бұрын
bw13187 That's pretty much why I checked out of the series after completing ff7. I just couldn't get on board with the direction in plot and character designs. Everything was just made out to be needlessly complicated. I guess being of the Snes era it also didn't make sense so many others thought these were positives. Hell, I'm probably one of the few people who doesn't like One Winged Angel as a last boss theme while most other call it a masterpiece. I disagree. To me it sounded so over the top bombastic, it comes across a ridiculous. Especially the way it opens with the Reee, Reee, reeee, reeee! Every time I hear it I think of the Mr. Donut Man scene from Wayne's World. FFT at least shows you can have a somber complex story without being so opaquely convoluted and/or existential it's sniffing its own farts.

FFT has one of the best stories I've ever read or seen in any medium. It's an epic tale that also has immense personal growth and realization, with perfectly crafted foils in Ramza and Delita. I could gush about it for a while, but I'm just disappointed it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I suppose the problem is it wouldn't translate as well to any other medium. So much of it is so much more powerful because it is a game. I remember the first time I played and Gafgarrion betrayed us I was floored. I had good equipment on him, it was actually disheartening (though when you see it coming it's easy to remove all of his equipment :P ). That betrayal wouldn't be as powerful as a show or book, since you don't personally feel it as much. Oh also the music and gameplay is stellar. God I love this game.

Compressed again: The king lost a war and died. The White Lion is appointed to the crown by the king until the king's 2 year old son comes of age. The government says "yeaaaah no we don't like him" and appoints the Black Lion to the crown. They fight for years. All the knights and people suffer and are forced into crime. Ramza and Delita are friends until Ramza's highborn brothers say "Delita ain't shit because we're nobles and he's a commoner." So they kill his sister. Delita decides he's going to lie, cheat, steal, and kill until he can burn down both Lions and let the common people have their turn. Ramza is disgusted by his highborn family and renounces...everyone. Years pass. The church takes advantage of the 2 Lions fighting until they both become so weak from killing each other that they'll just both bow to the church and the church will rule. The church decide to use literal demons to increase their power. Ramza stops them. The church lies and tells everyone Ramza's a terrorist. Ramza has no friends but keeps fighting because the church stole his sister. Ramza kills his own family after he found out his brother killed his father and the leader of the White Lions. The White Lions are dead. Delita murders the leaders of the Black Lions and takes over. The Black Lion is dead. The church is happy and prepare to take over but can't because Ramza is in the way. Ramza murders his way through the entire clergy. He finds out the ultimate goal of the church is to resurrect a holy figure who is actually the antichrist. Ramza kills the antichrist. The antichrist blows up. To save face, the church tells everyone that Ramza was worse than Osama Bin Laden and for centuries people believe it. The one guy who knew the truth the church set on fire. Delita is crowned king and declared a legend. But the princess he spent a quarter of the game trying to save is convinced that he'll only use her too and throw her away, so she tries to kill him. Delita kills her. Ramza fucks off out of this shitty country and no one knew he was the actual hero of the War of the Lions until decades after his death. The end.

I'd love to see an HD remake that fixed the one legit gripe I have with it (you can get save locked, like when you 1v1 Wiegraf, if Ramza is the wrong class or doesn't have the right skills, you can't possibly win and you can't go back and change anything).

This story was the greatest out of any Final Fantasy game to me. Gameplay aside, I felt this was very well thought out, the characters were driven and knew who they were at their core and what needed to be done. Everyone had a role and fulfilled it to the best of their abilities, all the while behaving in reasonable fashion given their own circumstances. UGH! If only it was given proper visuals of the characters to give their actions and appearances the recognition they deserve. Like yes, the cinematic scenes were great when they showed, but they were too few and far between. So many more scenes deserved that treatment that didn't get to be shown.

One of the best ff story and character wise, the story is just so engaging and the characters feel true they are driven by motivation and some by revenge which make their emotions authentic.

I have so much love and fond memories for this game. I started playing D&D last year and while playing always found myself thinking that it is so nice similar to FFT, it must have drawn a lot of influence from older editions of the game with the job classes and grid style combat etc. I would love to try and adapt this story into a campaign. With all the twists and political intrigue/betrayals I think it would be perfect. This video is excellent and if I can do it I'll definitely be watching this again for reference.

I appreciate in the very...special...remix on the PSP there's an optional fight where Argath is revived as a dark demon copy of himself so you can have catharsis in the late game just facerolling him again as a fucking tool. I wish it would have been integrated into the story a bit, lije making Wiegraf summon him as one of his demons in his standoff later in the game. Using a Noble's Tool as his own and taking a bloody thirsty fool and redirecting it against his killer, Ramza.

I love this game so much. I still have the Playstaion version, and i've played it start to finish at least 6 times. I especially love the seen where Malak is revived. That scene was such a "whoa wtf i did not see that coming" the first time i played it, and the music for that scene is so gorgeous. Nice recap dude. Spot on explanations.

Do you think you'll ever make a video trying to connect the history of Ivalice? Does such a video/writing already exist? As in how the city of Gogue from FFTA2 connects to this game's city of Gogue and the Glabados ruins in FFXII Revenant Wings as well as the fact that one of the monsters (I think the magic pots) in the bestiary for FFXII mention Ajora.

I come to watch this again after completing the FF Tactic raid in FFXIV. The FFXIV version adds and changes something from the original such as -Ramza did die, as he used himself to seal Altima. -Delita did want to preserve Ramza's name in history, but Ramza last wish was against that idea. -Delita, Orran and Alma honored Ramza last wish, but Orran couldnt bring himself to erase Ramza from history, so Durai's paper was written. -Orran married to Alma and was offered to stay in court of Delita, but he refused because he knew the church would cause troubles for Delita. -Orran and Alma's descendant, Arazlam Durai changes his name to Jenomis cen Lexentale. He is a genius playwright who seeks to uncover the truth behind Zodiac Brave Story by following the trails left behind in Durai's paper. -Jenomis also has a son and a daughter named Ramza and Alma, who look like their ancestors. As someone who knew and played FF tactic, i couldnt appreciate this questline more. It answers, continues, and concludes the original FF Tactic, albeit some changes. The questline IS pure FF Tactic fanservice.

Third game was really challenging until I discovered the jp farming glitch: have a party member learn toad, give all your members jp boost, have everyone else run squire with focus (ramza with that one that raises speed) kill all but 1 enemy, turn last enemy into toad, ( the battle won't end and the creature can't use abilities and eventually doesn't even damage you) use focus to gain 45jp and like 1-5xp. You want focus because of the low xp, it's no fun being over levelled and locked out of good equipment. Repeat until everyone has mastered their class, using tailwind to allow the ones who need more jp to go more often. Finish battle, change classes, repeat. Best thing is, story characters don't progress with you, so you can wreck the story battles

I think out of the three Tactics games, A2 is the weakest. Tactics was a dark political story inspired by the War of the Roses and Advance featured familial abuse, the effects of bullying on children, and a deconstruction of escapism, but A2 was just some kid goofing off in a fantasy world
@an35826 жыл бұрын
Kids enter a Disney story. Kids exit a Disney story. Just did the first Tactics Adcance for ya lol. Just kidding, I just hate that those games, in my opinion, tarnish the legacy of this one.

@an35826 жыл бұрын
U. Reverie Im aware, i said I was kidding. But in my opinion it feels so shallow in comparison to the originals story that It might as well be a disney story. The characters aren't relatable, no stakes from what I could gather. But to each their own. I was just expressing my opinion in an exaggerated way.

ff12 wasn't made yet. Balthier was originally a side character named "Beowulf." He had the most amazing attack; Chicken. Each time you use it, it depletes 50 bravery. So, you use it on a guy twice, they instantly turn into a chicken, and flee to a corner, not changing back for 10 turns. (You regain 1 brave per turn, and turn into a chicken if it's under 10.)
@SoulnoidCrewGaming7 жыл бұрын
According to the Ivalice timeline, yes
@D.Dragon7 жыл бұрын
Beowulf was still worse than Orlandeau though. Harder to get and required 2 attacks to make enemies useless, while Orlandeau could do it in 1.
@billlupin83457 жыл бұрын
Yes, but can Thundergod Cid turn them into a chicken? Didn't think so. See, that's what you're missing here. It's not about practicality. It's about the chicken. Sure, you can use an uber attack to dominate an entire line of enemies, or hit a crowd and instantly be back to full health... but none of that packs the sweet satisfaction of chicken.

The one FF game that definitely needs to be ported to PC. Shit kills my neck playing on my phone, don't have a PS1 or hard copy of the game anymore, don't know where my PSP charger is but I have it downloaded on my PSP.. I was always a FF7 fanboy, and always will be, and I'm super hyped for the remake, but this game.. If it ever comes to PC, money will be thrown at the screen SO freaking fast! Truly love this game.
