I love the 'mystery' of the underlaying pages. It is as if they are begging you to turn the page and see them in their glory. What a wonderful idea! I have some vellum that is too thin for my printer and I may see what I can do with that to use it - maybe in this way as a mini-book. Thank you as always for your inspiration. :)

Besides the intrigue and the crinkling sound, it does beg for the pages to be turned. I love that Sheila, thanks for your observations!

This is super cool! I LOOOVE crinkly paper. It's so satisfying turning pages of crispy paper. This has to be the best. I thought I was the only one who was in love with crispy, wrinkly, crinkly paper. Thanks for sharing this with us.

This is really a neat book, and I love the way you had the quote on the second page...it's perfect. The third page contributing its own colors kind of makes me think of your accordion-fold book, with each page taking part of the previous page and adding to the following page. Can't wait to see how you develop this, Kelly :)

Oh the things we’d try making art with if we had infinite budget! 😄 I’m really glad you made this video, I’ve been using a sketchbook my sister gave me, which has some transparent pages in the middle. I tried using them but didn’t really like using graphite pencils or black pens. Now I have ideas to play with them more! 😊
@kellyhoernig6 ай бұрын
You are so right. I bought this as a birthday present for myself just because I was so intrigued by it. Glad it inspired ideas on how to use the transparent pages and remember, just have fun playing, no pressure, just experimentation!

Hi Kelly! I am very familiar with the Onionskin Paper; I have filled a small notebook with birds to try out the paper, which is absolutely lovely for graphite, ink and fairly dry watercolor ….. Then I filled another journal A5 +_ 300 pgs. for my daily drawing sessions and it is also is completed! You made a great choice! I love how all the drawings are superimposing the ones done before them…

Wow, 300 pages, how exciting is that and very impressive! Yes, the superimposing is one of the main reasons for purchasing the journal. It adds another layer of creativity to experience which I really enjoy.

OK, Kelly...I can see the under layers being other seasons? Maybe for winter a branch with no leaves or small, brown curled ones. Then for spring, pale green buds and/or small bright green leaves, then of course full-on green ones for summer. Oh, I think I need an onion skin journal! We used to use onion skin writing paper to send letters overseas when I was a kid as "airmail" was so expensive back then!

I’ve been using these ever since Remy launched. I have multiple sets of them from large to small. And it’s all about “the crinkle.” You can throw just about anything at them and it’ll come out beautifully. Welcome to the dark side, lol. 🌺

Is onionskin paper even available any more, in a format other than expensive journals? I remember, as a child, sneaking into my mother''s desk and being fascinated by the texture of the papers, and those erasers that were round, with a brush attached.
@kellyhoernig6 ай бұрын
I would think so but I don't know what the quality of it is nowadays. What I remember as a kid is it being a yellow tinted paper with wrinkles on the page.

Enjoyed your video, questions , do you like this ink , I am a beginner at 75, bought the onion skin journal, like you I want to add a touch of art.. is there another ink you would like? I am a lefty so smearing is an issue.. maybe something that is water proof? The things I want to try is rubber stamping an image that my stamping ink is waterproof, the coloring not sure but I like your look, any help from you or your friends would be most welcome, thank you.
@kellyhoernig6 ай бұрын
The Sketch Ink is waterproof, that is one of the reasons I bought it. I saw a lot of urban sketchers using it in their sketchbooks. I haven't experimented with any others ink as of yet so can't offer any suggestions at this time, sorry.
