Everyone told me the story (for DL1) was garbage, but I didn't get that. I feel like all the elements of the game pulled me in and I felt like I was truly there. Like the choices I made (the ones that should have been there but felt like they were there anyway because Crane made them) really seemed to impact myself rather than just the character I was playing. The choices in the second game I feel like are just different paths to take so I can get more out of the game. The first game had me feeling like I truly was Crane, he didn't feel like a character to me it actually felt like I was doing those things and that's what made the first game so amazing for me.

But isn't it great to have night time so terrifying, that it effects our gameplay decisions? To look after the time, plan around the sunset, and where the shelters are. Even if you're not going much at night, you have deep emotions and memories, you are immersed in the world, you see a mystery in it. And when you go out at night, it's absolutely unique and memorable. Take this away, people will go out at night as much as day, but will find nothing there. Who cares about the "dying light", if it makes no difference?
@stanislavkimov2779 Жыл бұрын
@@zay_tiggygaming I don't know who said these things. I didn't, and no one I know did. Some people said something, it was not a consensus, and the devs just mindlessly picked up the wrong feedback. Don't they have their own vision? They had this vision in the 1st game, and in the 2nd they are making these clearly dumb decisions. If they gave the majority DL1 fans what they wanted, there would be no critique of DL2. DL2 looks like a dumbed down AAA, compared to the 1st one. It had so many chances to improve, instead the devs tried to please the wide audience.

At that point, i was nervous to encounter a vollie, So i went to attempt it at night. There were 2 or 3 vollies around the entrance of the tunnel but i managed to sneak in. I killed a biter, camouflaged myself and destroyed 3 spawn points, no sweat. Until i saw a volatile in there. I paused the game and thought about how to avoid it. I camouflaged myself a few seconds earlier so i just tried walking past it but it still saw me. I ran, tried to kill it, but it killed me. But you're going back and playing dying light (1) after 7 years of patches... Disconnect your system from the internet and install and play it from an old version of disk, and you'll see that this game took 7 years to get where it got to(which is an amazing game) I remember how meh the game was when it first came out .. to the point for the first 3 years I'd play like 2 hours a year until the giant DLC "the following" came out and added quite a bit, and added quite a bit in the base game with patches at that point... Because if you find a disk from the first run, and make sure it doesn't update (I just disconnected my PS4 from the internet playing version like 1.X you'll realize just how much post launch effort techland put into the game after launch, for free, all these added patches and features, they really turned it into this amazing game after launch by listening to the community, down to even making community events and repeating the ones people asked for/were super popular....so in 7 years see where dying light 2 is, as even 1 year after launch it's a *much* better game with more features, including ones the community asked for(like the legendary system being added in 2 like it was in 1) That said though #1 is almost a perfect game, not a perfect zombie game, but an almost perfect "everyone who has a system that can play it should own it" game Kinda like how the last of us was, if you owned a PS3, or a PS4 you have to own it, much like a version of halo for the 360/one So I feel this review should be preceded with a "this is a video about the final version of dying light 1" or mention how dying light 1 was at start versus what you're doing the review on Idk if dying light 2 will hit the same status as dying light 1 did, or if it'll just get that status with dying light 1 fans, but in 6 more years(since it's a year old) could make #2 as good a sequel as dying light 1 deserves... If anything the amount of free patches and events and just how much time and energy techland put into listening to the community needs to really be emphasized as dying light would not be the game it is, if techland didn't listen to the community and also didn't keep putting out patches for 7 years, as it showed how much the devs themselves loved the game, how much the devs and community loves the game, and how much effort they kept putting in to making it the best game it could be But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong, I guess

I know we have The Beast coming so Crane is clearly still alive but by the end of DL1s DLC, Crane is a volatile and escapes Haran and is basically the reason the Haran virus spreads to the rest of the world, so I feel like Techland felt his arc was completed already. The main quest story sucks sure, but the actual lore inside the notes and the tapes are still really fun and interesting, and they really do tie in both DL1 and DL2, it’s just unfortunate because most players won’t be hunting the collectibles down

This is one of my biggest gripes with DL2. The nights aren't scary. They've put Bounties in the game like "Be in a level 4 chase for 60 seconds" and the biggest challenge is actually getting it to level 4, which is when Volatiles finally show up. If you start to kill any virals that run after you, the rest might lose sight of you and the chase will be over. My second biggest must be the ragdoll. Zombies just aren't as prone to falling, and they'll hit an invisible wall when they're about to walk off rooftops. You can even see this with virals when they do their jump attack. They will glue onto any terrain, be unable to go over anything, and it's impossible for them to fall. Would've been really cool to see them jump for you on a rooftop and go crashing down to the streets below, but no. It just seemed like very lazy and safe programming.

It should also be remembered that very recently DL2 received the famous "Dev tools" update which allows people to start creating mods for it and I already saw several maps coming and uffff... get ready

I don't think Rais killed the guards in the arena to show his power, I think he punished them because they failed to protect him from Crane. Maybe it is still overly crude....but maybe makes more sense. Why pay awful bodyguards?

There’s also the scene where you approach rais at his base and he murders his people, I believe he makes them “run away”

I love this game. There is nothing like the nighttime in DL1.

man back in the day when I don't have any other way to level up my parkour skills, i have to venture the night packed with A LOT OF FLARES and fFIRECRACKERS just to get those x2 exp in the night. this game was so magical to me and the very first ever single story game that I've finished. i still play the game on steam PC cause i like playing with random players cause they suddenly drop/give you GODLIKE shotguns that have infinite ammo

I enjoyed every second of your video! Maybe because DL1 is a gem that can never be repeated! I wish DL2 reach that one day...

Really good video, especially appreciated the point about the build up and general tension around night time. I don't think being scared of the night is inherently a negative, really frightening when you're caught out at night with no safe zones around. The contrast between feeling powerful during the day and helpless and scared during the night is a great dynamic.

hopefully Techland has a "come to Jesus" moment and looks back to see why people loved Dying Light 1 and improve upon it

The one thing other than that quick time button bash boss fight , was the water animation, it was hard to see even tho the surface was clear 😢

Since I believe Crane turning is the true ending I hope we see him again and how he has been dealing with everything that happened

I haven't played another game that nailed uneasiness at all times like Dying Light. The little ambient noises, explosions in the distance, screams of infected... It all made my skin crawl and I love it. Then add on the tension of nighttime play with volatiles. 😙 There's nothing quite like your first volatile chase. I love this game so much and how bleak everything is. Gotta go, I'm gonna put another replay under my belt again. 😅

Watching this has made me start to play at night, I recently bought dying light for the first time and have competed it, I’m still working on the following and love the car and the locations. Thank you for making this! I had such a scary and thrilling chase sequence running in old town 😂

Open world FPS zombie/infected games weren't my cup of tea and this game did completely change my mind. It did grab me in the story, going out when was night gave me anxiety and adrenaline, at same time. Music on point. An open world that actually have a reason to exist. A small group of survivors trying to live day after day and I truly felt being part of that world. All of this is priceless, since it seem so hard today, find games that suck me so easily. Maybe ME, regardless the arguable endings and the entire Legacy of Kain.

My first time playing the Airdrop mission was the day I turned from a boy into a man. I was 14 at the time. I just made it into a building and lost the chase, hid in the building for a little bit until I built up the courage to head to the tower again. Nearly as soon as I left the house, a volatile spotted me. They almost got me, bought me down to 1hp, but I saw the purple lights getting closer. I finally got back to the tower full of adrenaline, knowing that I had just grown up and that I could do anything. For those of you wondering, dying light is my first new gen (at the time) horror game. Techland changed gaming in my eyes forever.
