This is absolutely awesome. 44cm bream may take around 30 years to grow I think. Nice video mate. you just do hook and release session now? Bream is also great tasty fish.

Yes it was simply fabulous, and excuse me Trin 45cm HaHa, Bream don't come often that size even though there are lots out there. They do say they are very old thats cool ey. yes I love a feed of fish, I've eaten some yummy bream but most for me have tasted a bit swampy so I personally decided never to eat another, only for that reason. who ever else wants to eat them thats fine. Maybe we should think twice about eating a bream of that size though because of its age and breeding potential.

Sorry for my mistake. Yeah 45cm is huge bream, my record is 39cm. You may try to steam bream. Salt and put ginger into the fish, and a bit alcohol to remove the fish smell, around 15 to 20mins, then put into Boiled water to steam for around 9 to 12mins depend on the fish size, then make sure move the fish out. If you like, you can get hot vegi oil on to the fish, it will be very tasty.

Thank you Trin for that cooking technique, can I use a bit of Johny walker for the alcohol, I will try this for sure. 39cm bream is very nice to.
@flynnfang
@flynnfang 5 жыл бұрын
I think any alcohol will do. I normally use cooking red wine, but Johnnie walker should be better that the cooking wine, cauz the higher alcohol. You can have a try.

Wow what a big one.. That would have been so much fun catching it. You are so lucky to have places to catch so many fish, it's so hard in Sydney. I'm probably not looking at the right places

Gday mate good to hear from you. It was a good morning session a few small fish but also some nice fish about as well as the ones I caught, lost some nice ones to. The Onkaparinga is a nice river to fish I use to live next door to it, now its a hours drive away but worth the drive. I actually thought us land based fishos did it tough in SA, just goes to show. I don't Know much about Sydney. I do know its a huge place. all I can say is follow your nose use your burley have a look at your estuary systems catch them worms. Fishing dose get tough with our busy lives though all the best David

Every time I see your videos make me want to move there lol. The rivers here are hopeless, too much food for them maybe they are too picky. My only chance are the beaches of catching anything or else the rocks which get a bit dangerous. Yes, the worms are calling so silently..

Gday CJ Hobbies. Pity about your rivers, looks like your going to have to stick too the beach, I love rock fishing you should check them out, but yes you must have eyes in the back of your head. I've done some really good rock fishing youtube but haven't put them up in fear of people finding my spot so I discarded them, I'm going to do it at night time so nobody knows where I am. Adelaide is nice and quiet compared to where you live, houses are a lot cheaper and I Guess the fishing is pretty good when you know where to go. all the best. YES I hear them worms calling me regularly at the moment.

Thanks Alan yes lovely fish , thats a nice size you caught 52cm nice and chunky too 5.5lb and fishing for mullet what a nice surprise and fight on 6lb line. I caught my biggest in scabs channel closer to the Murray mouth also 52cm but a bit leaner than yours weighing in at nearly 4.5lb they start looking like snapper that big. thank you for commenting and watching Alan.

Great videos throughout David. I've sat back and watched all of your videos today and have learnt a number of new things - thank you. I especially like your cap in this video and other videos for the Strike Hook Forum :) Being a mod on the site, you may wish to join us (if you have not already) and share in the discussions of fishing - would love to have you on-board if already not. Keep up the great work mate.

Thank you very much Geoff. Sorry late reply I didn't get any notifications for your message that happens sometimes, I just found yours accidentally. I wear the Strike Hook hat with pride my son Aarron started Strike Hook a while ago, now Bjorn is the owner also a very good friend of Aarrons from school days.One day I may hop on board I have never really been one for computers ,my wife bought me a GoPro and to my surprise I started filming with it and the feed back has been very rewarding. As you probably know I breed maggots and is actually quite a controlling job and the KZbin with my love for fishing has been real fun. Hopefully I will be starting videoing again soon Its been a busy summer. All the best and tight lines Geoff..........David

@@davidsheldonfishing9726 No worries David and can certainly understand how busy you must be and even harder to get out for a fish :) I've purchased another packet of your Gents today and also a packet of the Catchall Crawlers. I've never tried the CC's before but hoping for a session down at Maslins Beach this Sunday - Northern part of the beach ;) - and see what turns up. I got onto Strike & Hook after Aarron had passed over to Bjorn, so didn't really get to 'know' him, but Bjorn has mentioned him a few times - all good too lol. I've done a few videos with my GoPro also, mainly of Salmon, but need to do more before too long :) Anyway, thanks again David .....Geoff

Hi Nina this river is the onkaparinga river in this video I'm fishing down river from the Fleming road bridge main south road. There is also the old rail way bridge you will see, and a car park next to it, I'm also fishing down river from that bridge. Thank you for watching Cheers David.

David, nicely done. I am a fisho and a fish eater. I would have kept the mulloway as being a juvenile and a few of the bream. It was great to see you release the big bream. Dunno how many eggs a breeding female can produce but it is in the tens of thousands, so good onya. I bet the Onkaparinga salutes you!!

@davidsheldonfishing9726 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Floot thanks for the comment, I have eaten a few bream in the past some are really nice and some have been pretty average so me personally will only eat one from the surf, and that bream if a female will certainly lay a lot of eggs.The mulloway was actually well undersize at 45cm the size now anywhere outside the coorong is 82cm and bag limit of 2 and inside the coorong its 46cm and bag limit of 10 also 2 at 82cm or bigger, thats a strange fishing rule ey. thanks for watching Cheers David

Hey David, what exact locations should I go for breams? I live in West Beach, have been to West Lakes inshore a few times only caught one small bream, and good days there always busy. I'm thinking to try Onk River next time but it's a long river and I haven't really been to so I really would like to know the exact locations please mate, I just spent my hard earned on Boxing day for a bream rod and mate I need to catch something

Hi Laowang. Drive along River Rd from Port Noarlunga heading towards Old Noarlunga there is a toilet block in a car park next to the river park in that car park, that place is called Perry's Bend there can be some nice bream caught there, or you can walk up river and fish most spots along there and catch bream also mulloway if you walk to the next bend thats called the Aloes, on the opposite bank there is a very large Aloe vera plant and a large old log in the water. I Have caught a lot of bream there and mulloway. fish the high morning tide if high at 7 o'clock on the beach it will be high up there at 9 there is 2 hours difference. Also fish like I do in my videos with pilchard and worms or prawns and use burley like mine. Good luck mate hope you can catch a fish on your new rod and reel.

@davidsheldonfishing9726
@davidsheldonfishing9726 4 жыл бұрын
Hi mate the rig on my pilchard rod for bream and mulloway was double tied 2\0 suicide hooks on a 70cm 12lb Berkley vanish fluorocarbon trace line with a small swivel below a very small running sinker, main line 6LB-8LB-10lb would all be fine your choice. My other fishing rod for live worms started off with double tied number 6 bait holder for large pieces of worm but ended up to a single number 6 hook which was good enough, also same trace line but a running burley spring on a swivel instead of a running sinker, it works very well. Hope that helps you out.

nice bream what type of net were you using at the end?
@davidsheldonfishing9726
@davidsheldonfishing9726 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Oliver, the net at the end is called a keep net . It is used largely for coarse fishing throughout Europe for fresh water fishing. Its really good for admiring your catch at the end of the day, prior to release or keep fresh to take home.

Hi there, around 40 years ago I use to fish off Grange jetty sometimes and we use to catch bream and yellowfin whiting using beach worms for bait sometimes there were quite a lot of bream swimming around and sometimes tricky to catch we also caught a few port jackson sharks, Tommy ruffs and garfish including my biggest garfish I have forgotten how long but it was a whopper. I live a long way away now near Yankalilla and probably won't be there again but maybe. all the best with your fishing and thank you for watching and commenting.......David

I actually bit the hook off rather than risk more damage getting it out.I don't think it was hooked deep because it fought to good for that. He or she will be fine to fight another day.
