"One day recently, Alexandra Tweten was browsing Facebook when a woman she knew posted a screenshot of a recent exchange she’d had on OkCupid.
'I want to message you, but I’m afraid,' the man said. The woman didn't respond for 12 hours, after which the man followed up with one word:
'Asshole.'
As these things often do, the missive prompted a piling on of similar tales of inscrutably weird or profoundly rude dating messages. Tweten posted an aggressive note she had recently received from a man who had sent her the same OkCupid line three times in the course of a month, asking her if she’d like to chat. After ignoring it repeatedly, Tweten finally wrote back, 'No.'” *

If you can't handle some assholes online then you really have problems. I think some people just love feeling like a victim and getting attention for it. This woman set up a whole page just to show off her bad experiences? Had nothing better to do`? Just move on with your life and look for something better. If online dating isn't working for you go outside, there's a whole world out there if you didn't know :).

You got it right on the mark man.. I do like Ana in general, but on subjects like these (or feminist subjects) she is out of control and lost reality on it, or at least it appears so through the show. Anyhow I loved the example as well she gave. "you come across guys with no car or job and they are looking for a partners" ..lol.. HOW DARE HE!! ;) ..how dare a guy without a car and job look for a suitable partner in life.. cause aint nothing more important then a car and a job ;) without it you are just a "bad apple" ..how shallow can you be. How about a guy not having a car nor job but has two loving gentle hands and soul with good genes and is willing to stay home and take care of the future kids? ;) :D ..I guess Ana's free spirit missed out on that concept somewhere along the line ;) Dont get me wrong people, im not trying to indicate that not having a car and job isnt a sign that a person is more likely to have failing qualities, im just pointing it out cause Ana hates generalizing, she hates un-equality, hates pretentious profiling etc etc etc.. unless she is the one doing so ;)

***** If the threat of physical violence wasn't always there, ya people would be more honest. Threat is there though, so people shut up. This talk about shitty people online is annoying as fuck, shitty people in real life are 100x worse. The safety of digital communication makes aggressive communication a good learning mechanism in a safe environment for people to engage with a whole genre of experience, and learn from it. I'd much rather have aggression expressed digitally then physically out in the real world.

She rejected you? He sent you nasty messages? Don't be so delicate and move the fuck on. I don't do online dating, but I've been insulted and ranted on in public, because some people don't understand the distinction between politeness and flirting. I'm in a relationship currently so I put my french bitch face on. The name calling doesn't stop, but at least now it's *accurate*. I am indeed a cold hearted spiteful woman, why are you still talking to me?

Isn't it a reasonable thing that when you are starting to date a person, you judge him based on what you see? I mean I'd do the same to a woman, fx. if a girl didn't have a job/school and nothing going in that department, it'd be a turn off.

+Kisaragi Mitsukai You're right Spanish speakers tend to pronounce it the way you put it, but it's not just an Italian & Spanish name. I would say it's more popular with the Spanish & Italians, but it's an universal name with different pronunciations like the name Jenny. In some places they pronounce Felipe > "Fe-Leap" the same as Anna did.

Sooo...should we feel sorry for these women. What's worse getting tons of bullshit messages or never getting a message at all. At least as a woman you get to be picky and choose who you reply to. As a man we have to deal with flaky women who drag on long conversations online that have no intention of meeting in person, or shallow women who will never give any man the time of day unless he's a 10. Cry me a river.... -_-

Dudes...u even making those comments may explain y u rnt getting lucky. Hear me out, i'm not just trying to have a go. First, accept there's a difference between us and women. We r biologically programmed to spread our wild seeds more, as we can potentially father loads of kids very quickly. Women can only have a kid maximum every 9 months, so they r more picky about who might father their kids. Nope, we aren't usually conscious of that reasoning - but it is the reason nature has given us different sex drives. So women will always be less interested in casual encounters than men. But do u really think most men wld be on these sites if we never got lucky? Women r a lot more psychological in what turns them on, and they might very well be first interested in u, then get some vibe which turns them off. Not just because they r 'flaky', as u imagine. Quite frankly, if u think they are better off being abused than u not getting any, and think this sort of entitlement and anger is justified just because u rnt getting ur own way - u rnt a turn on. Yes, ur supposed to feel sorry for them. Any bloke who thinks not getting sex is more a problem than abuse and pressure towards women, is probably giving off some unhealthy vibes to them. Just get some game, dudes, and stop acting like toddlers, and more like sexy mature men who the ladies really find a turn-on.

This is why we OG Internet Nerds long for the days of old-school internet. This place (almost in its entirety) has turned into a late 80's/early 90's high school mall hangout, and it's sickening. "Saved by the Cell" meets "Mallrats". With extra zombie sauce. There was a time when pop culture unreasonably feared the internet. Yet, it wasn't until pop culture planted its flag in the web that it truly became an ugly, rancid, real-life place to fear. Way to go, world! -_-

This is the first time i completely disagree with something ana said, (i might be overthinking this but i cant believe what i just heard), She says she had experiences in online dating an calls someone whos literally just trying to cheat on his girlfriend "shit like this", and her next comment is about a guy that doesnt have a job or car but wants a girlfriend, throwing him in the same place that other guy is. now first of all why would u do that, one of them is an asshole trying to cheat on his girlfriend, the other one is literally just a guy who happens to not be working right now and doesnt own a car, how in hell is that as bad the first guy, and second of all im currently not working and i dont own a car, does that mean i dont deserve a girlfriend? is ana implying that women dont care for charm or intellect or other traits that make u an interesting human being but only care for social status?(working, car owner and so on) I get that it makes him and unlikely target in online dating, but she literally called it "shit like this" and that just seems way out of line, to be honest im quite shocked, didnt think ana viewed people like me this way :/

get used to it, if you don't have money you are garbage. that's the world we have created with our "values". The amount of money you make directly corresponds to how much value is placed on your services. the fact that you can make millions taking off your clothes like miley cyrus or make millions hitting people in the NFL or even making millions taking political bribes to let corporations rob everyone is made all the more comical when police and teachers barely make enough to live. When you can make 10 times the cash as a private merc than if you were to join the military, it really shows us that our priorities as a society are completely backwards. People judging others by income is ridiculous because by that logic 1 Justin Bieber is worth, what 20 maybe 30 doctors? Is he worth 100 mathematicians?1000 bus drivers?are we dating people or their bank accounts? Are we marrying partners or just the things that person can do for us?

Women...if you want it to stop try this. Instead of spending your entire lives sitting around waiting for your Cinderella moment, realize it is 2014 and get into the world of asking a man out. Let's be honest ladies...you get what you pay for, an many of you aren't paying a dime and expecting the world.

The one thing I really like about Okcupid is there data. I have never done Online dating so I can give + or - reviews on the dating... but the data is very interesting. From race to height to income to hotness to rejection when it comes to who likes whom, Okcupid has it all and makes it generally public. The thing women must realize when getting upset about men who are being asshole is this. Women get harassed and men get rejected. I don't think there is an objective why to say one is better or worse. Both honestly suck. There is no lack of good guys getting rejected or nice women getting harassed. It is not a one sided "poor women" world of online dating. I am not sure how women feel, but I would bet 90+% of men would trade some harassment for less rejection.

Wow, so very one sided here. If a guy was to set up a site like this to show when women are mean to them they would be hated and reviled and called a woman hater or a misogynist. Yet, it's perfectly ok for women to do this to guys? With that said, yes there are a lot of guys out there that ARE assholes. I won't deny that at all. What I am saying that women can be as much of an asshole as a guy can, but it's generally over looked and if you want REAL transparency, then someone should start one where women are doing the same to guys. I met my wife online, we dated, got engaged 2 years later and married shortly after that... You have to keep an open mind when online dating. Keep the first date to a 15 minute coffee...if it lasts longer that's a good sign, if it doesn't...move on... ...as I guy I see where the issue is...guys with egos who look first at women in terms of their "hotness: and second in terms of their "compatibility". They want the arm candy, the porn fantasy, the bragging rights, and it's sad, pathetic, and very high school! Men...don't be this guy...when you click emotionally she'll be HOT! ;) Women...do what Anna does, ignore/block the idiots; don't feed their egos (aka the Troll). In the end you have to keep in mind two things: 1) Online dating opens people up to dating outside of their social circle, circle of interests, and increases the probability that the person you contact is completely incompatible; and there is no social "filter" blocking the crazy and your good intentions. 2) Your time is precious, don't waste it on the crazies, and don't waste it trying to troll back. That 15 minutes might be the coffee date you missed with the compatible partner of your dreams! :)

I don't think there's anything wrong with shaming people in public for stupidity, whether it's public or private. The problem is that far too many people in our society don't feel any shame for saying or doing things they never used to say or do. When you say things that are sexist, racist, or homophobic, you should be called out on it. Maybe if we did more shaming of these kinds of people, there'd be less of their stupid quotes around to talk about. But if you're going to sit around and wait for these people to grow a conscience, you'll be holding your breath for a LONG time...because it's never going to happen. Public shaming is what our parents used to do when I was growing up. When you acted up, or acted out, or said or did things that weren't kosher, you got spanked and shamed, and it didn't matter if it was in the privacy of your home or in the middle of a crowded supermarket. And you know what? We learned not to do or say those things anymore, because we wanted to avoid the shaming. It's called Aversion Therapy--create a physically or mentally painful outcome for undesired behavior. It's basic Psychology. I think she should keep doing what she's doing, and encourage others to do it too. Real men used to know how to act and talk around women, and how to treat them right--open doors for them, pay for dinners out, walk on the outside of a sidewalk to protect them, treat them like a queen. I grant you, men shouldn't HAVE to be taught how to act like real men, but since the younger generations aren't teaching them how to act right anymore (with few exceptions), then SOMEONE needs to teach them. Shame them enough, and they'll start changing their tune really quick, because otherwise, they won't be able to get what they want anymore. Again, Aversion Therapy.

The only thing I ever tried is tinder and all I got was sexy looking robots trying to get me to sign up to sex hook up websites. Or the occasional cougar who wanted me to help her take care of her kid. My profile didn't say anything about a job school or religion. Just that I like to laugh, live, sleep in, stay up late, listen to good music, watch movies, swim, play guitar, draw, weight lift, spend time with family(nephew's and nieces) and friends and that I was not into the bar/ rave /club /scene. And my pics were a face pic a torso pic wearing a suit (prom) and one with my sports car and one with my nephew. Ana, I would so exclusively date you for forever. I don't care if you are 3. Years older than me I'm really mature for my age. I was born atheist, I speak fluent Spanish. I have a red sports car. I can go to LA and become an EMT no problem. We can live in separate places or together. I hate watching sports and i love to give foot and back rubs.(I've been told I have magic hands) I'm so low maintenance im self sufficient. And I have an abundance of energy. (My last gf lasted 5 years with me until I finally got tired of playing cat and mouse with her... She was a horrible human being) I'm not jealous or controlling and I am a master reciprocator so I can be as clingy or dismissive as you. Who am I kidding you probably got millionaires fighting each other over you.

Hey guess what. Women can send creepy and offensive messages too. I've had some. But I've no desire to "publicly shame them". Because I think certain things should be kept private. Also, making texts from your ex public is a horrendously crass thing to do.

First off, let me say that some of the messages I’ve seen there are really immature and horrible. Such behavior should not be condoned. Having said that, now I’m referring to messages like that screenshot in the article. If you were a man taking OKC seriously and trying to get to know someone special, it takes a special kind of tolerance and patience to stick with it. Some of the comments I’ve seen by the guys are really just that - comments said out of frustration, of putting in 100% effort and getting nothing in return. Not even a polite “thanks, not interested” or just no thx. Not even the satisfaction of closure in exchange for typing out a well thought out message. On the other hand, all girls have to do is sit back, let the messages roll in, and pick those that you like. It seems very silly to me to nitpick a few messages that look offensive and CHOOSE to be offended and threatened by them - even enough to post them up for the whole world to see those guy’s faces! For goodness sake. You can just ignore/block them. What exactly are you trying to prove? That it’s ohh so hard to be a woman in online dating? Seeing and learning about what not to do in online dating by highlighting some of the misogyny that exist is helpful. Creating something that’s now become a man-hating phenomenon isn’t. There are many decent guys out there trying to treat women right, and this isn’t helping.

I checked the instagram account and alot of guys are putting themselves out there and met with some really passive aggressive responses. Like "I don't think so" "wow" "um no?" Why even bother with girls these days? Just leave them to their pathetic existence because they obviously have nothing better to do than putting down others just for a 5 second high ego boost. But If your lucky enough you might find a mature women who will give you the time of day.

Does the fact of beeing 40 and not having a car and a job makes you a bad person ? There's a lot of circumtances that can make you financially weak for a period of time, but you don't give the guy a chance, for you, just the fact that he doesn't have a car and job makes him unworthy of your attention, for me that's a very sad way of thinking... I'm sure if a real prick puts in his profile that he has a million dollars you would be attracted on the spot....sad...very sad...

see Anna says one really bad apple after another after another Though we only have her word for it that ALL of these men are ALL unemployed men over 40 without a car or a job. What its probably more likely to be is that all of these men make under a certain percentage of income acceptable to her which is akin to "not having a jpb" Also and Anna herself said this women receive 100s of messages so they can afford to be a selective as they WANT to be while men have to put out 100s of messages only to get a couple of responses. Tell me Anna if a woman did not have a job or even over 40 is that ground to be immediately disqualified? Its the inequality of choice that is the problem. So yes some men are very bitter with on line dating. I also have no idea how frequently women do get messages from these kind of assholes. After all if they get 100s of messages statistically it makes sense "some percentage" of them will be assholes. But you have others to weed through the assholes, the "majority average" and the "Cream of the crop" people. WE a men have NO emails to go through. We are NOT weeding through long email lists of losers, "average" people and soul mates. Online dating is only a million times worse form men than for women. That's why some sites will NOT charge women to become members because they know women have the ability to choose and men are the primary "customers" Not to mention even if you begin talking to someone online they have to agree to meet with you and then when they do they have to find you MORE desirable than the other 100 or so profiles they have to choose from. I used to feel bad that no one replied to me on okcupid given the amount of genuinely attractive women on there. Then I realized I was not the only one not getting emailed back. online dating is a great way to destroy confidence and hope to ever actually go one a date with a real person lol. I'm giving it up since its been counter productive. It just angers me that TYT never uses statistics in any of their videos like this. Simply because one woman got angry and wants to publicly shame men does not even make that news. Its an anecdotal story which will be soon forgotten. If TYT wanted to do a helpful story it would be why is it so hard to locate significant others this day in age and what can be done to alleviate the problem. But that would amount to a thoughtful discussion rather than regurgitating "talking points"

I always think you should publicly shame trolls. Expose their asses because they wouldn't do it if they knew it wasn't private. Please do not block their name or face, got to let them know there's consequences for that shit. Online dating can be frustrating on both ends though. Dating in general is nerve recking.

Well, here's the other problem with online dating... women tend respond to guys who act like arrogant assholes (this happens in offline dating too). The guys who try to contact women who act respectful - the "good guys" - don't get responses at all. So not always, but part of the issue for women is self-created by the choices they're making of who to respond to.

Dammit, guys, y'all are supposed to be better than this. Harassment isn't okay just because it happens online. Maybe you've just become desensitized to it because you have to look at the insane trolls in your comments every day (do you look?) But for normal people it can be very upsetting. The good people shouldn't be pushed out of the online world and told, "oh, well just don't do it" because of the assholes online. The assholes are the ones that should be pushed out, just like we try to do in every other aspect of life. It's not absurd to expect people to be better than that. Jesus.

This is why we need prostitution to be legal. The social mechanisms that regulate male and female relationships will be evened out. As it stands mediocre women and up have A LOT of power in the dating scene. Whilst average men and down get the short end of the stick. Lets be honest. Most men want a sexy woman that will sleep with them on a regular basis and is she happens to have a good personality that's a plus. But men are more than willing to compromise and put up with the social pressure to be the breadwinner. Women, on the other hand, want successful men that can provided them resources. As the wealth of a man goes up, there is leniency towards the attractiveness of said man. But no woman, no matter how desperate she may be will be with a man that can't provide. If mens's sexual urge could be satisfied by prostitutes. Men would realize that there is little reason to spend time, money, effort and emotional pain on dates with stuck up women that they probably don't see themselves in a relationship with but hope to get lucky that night. But this will never happen. The state depends too much on the resources provided to it by men busting their ass day in and day out just to get their dick wet. As Dave Chapelle once said; "If a man can fuck a woman in a cardboard box, he wouldn't buy a house."

The thing about public shaming is that it's a bit of a slippery slope; shaming can easily turn someone into a target for harassment depending on who the shamee is and what they're being shamed for. Of course, somehow I doubt that male assholes on OK Cupid would be getting hounded with rape and death threats by angry feminists if their identities were made public, but if that were a legitimate concern, I'd probably have stronger feelings against Bye Felipe.

The issue I have is that we know public shaming does not work to solve the issues. I've always said I'd much rather a person be a bigot to my face, than hide it and do bigoted actions towards me while always having an excuse to curb their intention; and when we shame people into hiding their unpopular beliefs or actions, they tend to do the same things, but in a more sneaky fashion. At least when they are public about it, you can debate their point of view, and talk to them about changing it. Here its similar if you ask me. I mean, they harass you online through a dating site? That's horrible, just block them, report them, or ignore whatever they have to say, as long as you can understand all their insults and rudeness has nothing to do with you, and all to do with them and their life experiences, it's had to take things personal. (Or at least that is my opinion and experience; for me all I can think of is how sad it must be that they've got that opinion) I get one shouldn't be so obligated to have the compassion to try to talk to them or help them to be more balanced, I mean, for one its just not practical, however this public shaming is just another form of cyber bullying. I'm sorry with how upsetting this is, but we can't fight bullying with more bullying. So I guess I have a similar stance as Ana. That said, its hard to say how honest these revenge sites are. That is always my perspective on these things, no matter who is being shamed, I always think about the legitimacy and obvious lack of having it all there for the uploader. That test on the male and female profiles, though is silly. Not only is it forcing assumptions and social norms, it also just seems anecdotal.

I'm definitely not into attaching guys' names or usernames in the publication of these messages. That said, I really thoroughly enjoy reading the anonymous ones, and I think it's probably a good thing that that sort of stuff is publicly available so that it can start conversations about how men and women talk to each other through these apps and websites; what the norms are and what we should maybe strive for them to be. Plus, a lot of them are just plain hilarious.

at the base of the story the woman whose comment is being talked about obliously shows that women can act the same way but for some reason doesnt see a mans or trolls perspective at all and is showing how a womans perspective "usually" is based in considering themselves the center of the world or more important than the average female and most likely do not see it or UNDERSTAND that she is doing it.
