Back in 2014, the girl I had been seriously dating for about 2 years was forced to move over 1000 miles away. After another 2 years of long-distance dating, and a few mental breakdowns on my part, I decided to take the plunge. I sold everything I couldn't cram into my car and moved somewhere completely new to be with her. I'm happy to report it ended up working out. We've been married almost 4 years, and in March, she gave birth to our first child.

I was in an LDR. I met my man back in 2016 in a Facebook community. I get a message from this rando and I was about to delete him from the friend requests, but then I became intrigued. I responded to his message and we git it off. We had similar tastes in music and movies. We both have the same beliefs. We just clicked. We were strictly just friends, except for the fact that I was crushing hard on this fellow. 4.5 years later, we meet in person for the first time (January 2019). We were hanging out one night and I was a combination of tipsy and sad. We had finished watching Infinity Wars, and I was upset about Black Panther being Thanos snapped out of existence. Alcohol is my liquid courage, so I dump my feelings on this man. I'm ready for rejection, but then the feelings were reciprocated. We dated for 4 years and then had our wedding June 10, 2023.

We couldn't meet for 2 years, then managed to meet for about a week and saying goodbye was the most painful moment of my life. Eventually we managed to move in (which required moving to another country), get married, to this day we spend all our free time together and chat whenever possible, never got tired of each other and it is only getting better. When people ask how we met I can't help but say it is a crazy story and it is scary to imagine how different life would be if we didn't go on that one stream in the middle of the night. I got dumped around a month ago by this japanese girl I started dating after we met in my University last year (she was on a study abroad trip: met her around march, started dating around july), so this video hit too close to home for comfort 🥲 It's so relatable, it almost seemed like I was doing the talk... She had to move from her family home in Kyushu to Tokyo for work, and she kept saying how lonely she was there, away from her family and friends, on top of our LDR. She said she just couldn't handle it anymore and would like a boyfriend she can ACTUALLY hang out with and eventually plan a future together. Needless to say, it hurt. Still does, actually.

I am single though and prefer it that way.
@thewolfofwallstreet627 Жыл бұрын
I prefer single life, too. Media always tries to brainwash us into believing the only way to be happy is to have a family with kids. But happiness comes from within, so essentially, it's whatever you make of your life. For some, people find happiness in their career ambitions. Others it's family and etc. Point is people need to make up their own minds on what happiness is.

Entered into an LDR for a year right when I started my career as a Middle School teacher in the U.S. We began dating 3 months before she moved, and even though she moved only an hour and a half away, it still was a test. Thankfully, my long morning and afternoon commutes meant long phone conversations, we both are educators so we had Summer Break and breaks during the school year, and eventually I ended up getting hired at a school site close to where she moved. While this was not the longest distance of LDRs, it definitely tested our investment and it was worth it. We are both happily married for 4 years now. To any of you in an LDR or considering that option, make sure to talk frequently and find ways to have fun together while distanced (online gaming and movie nights worked for us but find what works for your relationship).

Me and my boyfriend have been long distance for 1 and a half years, I’m going no where I’m down bad. I think it takes a certain person to be able to handle ldrs. He’s changed my life for the better he’s the only person who treated me like another human being and not a body or an object he owns. If he decides one day to leave that’s okay, there’s no changing what he’s done and the life he’s given me. All I want is to be able to see him grow, even if that doesn’t involve me. I have been in a long distance relationship for 3 years, we started dating when we were 14 and we still have not been able to meet because of parent issues. while i do agree with some of the stuff daidus said, there can be a lot worse problems with ldrs that overshadow the small stuff. I would be so grateful to even be able to meet my boyfriend even once. Things like, saying goodbye, and thoughts of losing interest aren’t even thoughts in my relationship. ldrs are supposed to bring bonds so close to where you know all of the effort that the other is putting in is enough to believe in that bond. I have had his mom agree to let him come see me, and then find out that she lied after, but still stay strong. ldrs are proof of true love and strength, i would never complain about the difficulties as long as we’re able to be together. When we were younger, my bf had to hide our relationship from his parents for two years because of their disapproval of the distance. Even just being allowed to be open and in love in gift enough for us

I visited her first after over a year into the relationship around my birthday + Valentine's. A year ago, I met this guy at a party and soon after we started going out. Two weeks later I had to leave to a different country so we decided to try LDR. It sucked. We broke up after six months bc dealing with school, career stuff, and maintaining a relationship on top of a 7 hour time difference was too much for both of us. However, we stayed in touch for the remaining 6 months, and so I held onto hope and waited for him. We met again once I was finally back. Turns out he waited for me too :)

I’m in an LDR relationship. We’re taking things slow and we’re waiting for the right time to tell our parents cause we’re kinda keeping it on the down low. But we do love each other so much and even though we live only about a couple miles away from each other it’d still be a bit of work to get to each other. Though importantly we love each other so much because we just make each other happy. We were kinda awkward at first and we just sent each others memes like most LDR couples do. Then it got to meeting up in our favorite game and then we met up in person and eventually it started progressing towards the point where we’d just enjoy each other’s company no matter where or how we do it. I love her so much and I hope I’m with her for years to come

I started dating someone new during the pandemic and lockdowns- because what better time to have an LDR when I couldn't go out to meet people anyways? A few years later and now I've moved and ended up marrying that silly man I met online one day and I'm so happy to be with him in our own space. There's still some struggles here and there of course that everyone has to deal with but we at least thankfully have each other for support.

No one ever told me about the plunge. Had I known about it, perhaps I would have never e-dated. The plunge is real, and neither one of us was ready or willing to take it. So, it didn't work out. We lasted 3 years. I've now limited myself to only ever dating in person/locally. I don't ever want to take the plunge of moving away. My life is here. If I'm going to share it, it has to be with someone whose life is also here.

I was in a long distance relationship for 2 years which was actually pretty great. The good thing about it was, the physical heartbreak wasn’t as bad as it could’ve. The bad side was not getting anymore notifications/calls throughout the day. And I found that online dating to be similar but ultimately it just comes down to two people having a genuine connection. Relationships are a two-way street, and it is so…EXHAUSTING. Especially if you’re doing all the work.

My first relationship was LDR. Lasted around a year. We left on good terms. Came to the point where she was going through so much shit in her life, she needed someone beside her to get through the day. Would have been painful either way if we did not admit it to each other. I was sad for some months, I appreciate the time we had together and don't regret it. It was hard, but through the awkwardness and cringe, we had a wonderful time together. Edit: So didn’t think I would come back to this post. Lol. Met a girl on Omegle (cringe i know) and hit it off, we are going to start a LDR. We compliment each other real well, thought I would not start a LDR, but this girl drives me crazy. I think I will update this again, after seeing how it goes.

As someone who also started a LDR during the pandemic, can confirmed it sucked only getting to see my partner every so often (especially when we were each other's first committed partner). However, I can now happily say that we just celebrated our first year living together and it's been great. If you and your partner are willing to put in the effort and commitment, it is so worth it.

My relationship started out as an LDR, but I knew that the distance would cause it to fall apart if we didn't make plans for one of us to move, so I moved in with her and her parents temporarily after 6 months. 8 years later we are still together and living on our own. It hasn't been easy, but it's definitely been worth it.

I was in LDR for over a year and u were on point about it testing the very foundation of our insecurities. We were both hands full on things going on in our personal life and didn’t take the plunge, so it kind of just ended there on those terms. It was genuinely going well until we had to go separate ways.

I honestly admire Daidus and other people who can commit to ldr long-term, because it really takes a lot of patience and many other qualities mentioned in the video. Also, the whole notification-that-defines-your-mood thing was very relatable, because my girlfriend is currently staying in her hometown until september which is too far to visit without considerate planning (she left a week ago) and, until she returns, we are most likely to be only talking through social media, so it resembles ldr to an extent-

Currently in a LDR and have been for 3 years, saw him last month, and now I'm seeing him tomorrow :) Funny enough I'm seeing him next week too since I got invited to a camping trip with him and his friends. It's an 8 hour drive from the top of Cali to the border of Washington but I'm willing to do it again to see him.

I've been in an LDR for 5 years, with a girl from a continent across the Atlantic. Didn't work out, not because it fizzled out or anything though. We simply grew older, came to know life better and realized we're both not wealthy enough to even visit each other, especially not while also having to juggle collage. LDR is all about trust, and it's not the same type of trust as in a normal relationship, without it you can't hope to maintain it. After we broke up, it was weird not getting daily DMs, or not having anyone to talk to about your troubles. Still, it was the best relationship I've ever had and I'm glad we remained good friends and we even still occasionally talk to each other. Never have I ever opened myself up to someone like I did with her. So, if you're afraid of a long distance relationship, don't worry and give it a try. Even if it doesn't work out in the end, you'll learn a lot about yourself in the process.

I used to be in LDR before. My husband and I met through an anime website back in 2011 and became good friends for 3 years then we eventually started to have feelings for each other which we eventually dated. We had many ups and downs being in LDR. Now we've been together for almost 10 years and been happily married for 4 years . We also have a cutie baby coming along the way. LDR is worth it as long as two people in the relationship work together and not just one person.

As someone who's been in an irl relationship for ten years, I can't imagine having to do LDR. Even just being apart for a week or two feels like torture sometimes! We don't have many insecurities now after ten years, and we can still keep each others' spirits up when we're apart, but being together in person really hits different. So big props to every couple who manage LDR! It's tough but I believe in you guys :)

I was in a LDR for about 3 years, and what’s interesting about it was that this was my first relationship. I was honestly lucky to know I got off easy in the end and how we ended on good terms. As for how feel about LDR’s I do think it’s worth a try if your willingly want to commit to it, and how it really is a lot of effort. For my advice is to always give reassurance within your relationship. Have faith and in do time it’ll be worth it. Good luck to those who are currently in one.

have been in an LDR myself for some time as well. what helped us is spending as much time together as we can, even though we have a 6 hour time difference (he works full time, i work part time and attend university at the moment), heck, we even shared calendars and write in if we're gonna hang out with friends, our work shifts, how my classes are scheduled, and work around it (which has been a lifesaver because now we know exactly why one of us doesn't reply) plus very heavy on communication and voicing if something feels off. two and half years now almost

i’m in a long distance relationship so i clicked on this video so fast. there’s pain that comes with it and you have to be strong to follow through that kind of thing. 😭 thanks for making this vid daidus ❤ edit- here’s a little story for yall: i met my boy on PLAYSTATION. 💀 not ideal at all. i like my men in person even though i’ve really gotten to know him for about 7 months now (and even though we “met” online about 3 years ago but were too afraid to talk to each other…💀) i arranged a plan for us to meet up for about 30 minutes at his airport at 6 am, because i was going in between a flight back home. i cannot go to california and stay there temporarily (his state) as much as i wish i could BUT i did have a layover there for about 2 hours. he drove all the way to LA- he doesn’t live anywhere near LA- to see me for a good 30 MINUTES. i really think i made the right choice, because no in person ex i’ve ever had would go that far for me. not only is he understanding, he’s kind to me too. LDR is painful like i said, but your bond will be much stronger than your standard in person relationship because of moments like these 🥲

"How far is your LDR, like Maine to California?" In high school I literally did this. In hindsight it was pretty clearly untenable, but them's the breaks. The "saying goodbye hurts too much" bit reawakened some memories because that's exactly what ended up ending it lol.

I had an LDR for 5 years, we were finally planning to move together but then a full fledged war started between our countries. I started spending a lot of time volunteering and surviving bombardmends and she wanted to live a good life and continue as if nothing happened. So after 4-5 month of arguing we split and after 6 more months i found a beautiful girl irl and happy now.

Husband and I were just guild pals/online buds for like 3-4 years, then we started dating, 1 year in he got move orders abroad (he's military) and it was either take the jump and rush a marriage or risk not seeing him again for like 6 years from financial barriers. We wanted to take our time initially but ended up taking the dive. They cancelled his orders though once I was in the picture so now we're stuck in the south lol

My current boyfriend and I tried E-dating on two occasions and it just didn’t work out because of personal issues and doubts. After the second time I told him I didn’t think we were long-distance people and that we should stay friends at least until we see each other in person at least once. Almost 2 years later, I had enough money from a job I got to go and visit him in another state and we got back together that same day. Just passed a year last month and I’ve flown out to see him two other times. We’re doing great now.

Entered a relationship literally the week before the pandemic started, fell deeper in love together, literally traveled halfway across the country to see him and he decided then that I was the one for him and he moved down to my state. A month later he proposed and we just got our first house. LDR are super hard but so worth it. We have a strong loving relationship ❤

I was in a LDR and it was afwul. We had it for 4 years with covid. The covid time was the worst, since we couldnt visit each other. And we already were having a hard time by only texting and calling each other. We missed each other that much.. But after covid was over, I was finished with school and decided to move to my bf. Now we are living together for 2 years and are even engaged. Life is crazy but I am proud and happy with how we menaged to do this together

I used to date someone who lives at 2 hours and a half road time from me. We met through a forum, and first meeting IRL was at a convention. It lasted one year. Distance wasnt the issue, when I think about it maybe the lack of contact artificially elongated our relationship...
