I created some "work projects" and added in a company that was no longer in business recently. Put my friend as a reference and said I worked there for 3 years. Worked that job for just over 5 years and took the other one off my resume, as a high end job that really wanted to dig could probably find out that I didn't actually work there. Every employer advertises their openings online. Hiring almost always happens through Referrals only. For the mere 10-12 vacancies, candidates are filled by employees refering their known persons for the role. I know it feels nepotistic and non-merit-based, but networking and referrals are the way to go. Good luck with networking for whoever is reading this.

My experience. Most of the jobs listed on Indeed are listed for years. Either they just collect the applications or the turn over is that bad. Those jobs will say 100 + applications and no hires. A number of the jobs listed won't even be in the area listed, fake jobs. I've never known anyone where I live to get a job from one of these online lists. Another problem is many of those companies pretending to offer a job are just collecting peoples personal data.
@slamdangles2 жыл бұрын
OMFG I'm so glad you said this because I'm going through this right now. A few things - there's no way hiring managers are physically looking at as many resumes as you depict in this video. The ATS likely gives them 10? 15? not the 50 or 60 you depict. As far as the black hole? It is real. The ATS scans looking for keywords. We all know that. But not to include but to exclude (to knock the thousand applications down to 10 or 15). If your resume is excluded, the majority of companies do not reply. Hence the term black hole. So I'm just a little skeptical on your 86% hearing back statistic. Finally, while the two weeks later follow up to the hiring manager or HR department is a great suggestion, there typically is no way to actually do that. The online application, the majority of the time, does not supply any contact info for HR and definitely not the actual hiring manger. This is by design. Good video though ;)
