Hello Ashe, i am an old man (70 y.o.) learning archery from about 3 months. First competition (barebow/18 mt/indoor) 2 week ago: anxiety and errors....291 points, 1 week ago second competition, less stress......341 points, last training session over 400 points. I am growing thanks to my local coach and your advice. I follow... Best regards, Patrizio.

The number of clicks also depends on the size of the target and how far away it is. It's a very personal matter, with many variations, but it's worth finding out the number of clicks for each situation. Nice tip!

What's all this nonsense it's 8% technique and 92% mental simple don't think it's muscle memory. If you can throw a stone at what ever and hit it without thinking about it , you can do archery.

Seemed like a missed opportunity to mention damaged knocks being a safety risk. Though with your more thorough review and disposal once there is any question of impact its less likely a knock would ever be in a dangerous state and pass but if it looks good and felt unusual going on the serving then its also good to get out of service. As a newer archer and with a hyperextended elbow I have my own fun trying to work on a lot of form checks and tweaks to keep my arm away from the string without introducing bad form as a workaround. Elbow rotation, bow hand rotation/alignment, and grip placement are bigger ones for me though shoulder alignment and torso rotation in my draw cycle have been enough to smack me too. I'm new enough my form isn't solid yet. I'd imagine a lot of what matters to me is handled subconscious by competitive viewers but I'd add warm up before shooting, make sure you are in a good state for hydration/food/sleep, and save avoidable equipment and technique experimentation to just after a competition instead of just before. Different parts to that impact people differently, but consistency is a good thing where you may think, "hunger/thirst is fine" and a more or less full chest now make another thing that can feel different during the shot.

Hi Ashe!Nice recomendations. Do you have a set of arrows for training and another for competition? If so, how do you chose them?
@OnlineArcheryAcademy2 жыл бұрын
I do, and this is indeed the ideal way to do it, but I realise it's not really feasible for most people. And that being said, even if you have a competition set it's still important to have your practice set in good condition so you're getting meaningful feedback during practice.

So refreshing to hear you talking about nocks wearing out , I’ve been saying for years to club mates who wouldn’t believe me . I used to use beiter nocks but found that after about a month my groups at 70m would go from being 8 inwards (average score 600 + ) to getting odd flyers out in the blue to my scores dropping to 570’s . Change out to a new set of nocks and boom back to 600+ scores

Easiest way to improve your score: Shoot at a larger target at a shorter range. Worked wonders for me...

May I ask how much does the Olympic bow weigh?
@OnlineArcheryAcademy2 жыл бұрын
It can vary a lot but often somewhere around 2.5kg give or take a bit :)
