I think I've spent decent (too much) time listening to all major bass gurus on YT and just would like to point out that as far as the content quality and delivery of instruction you have no match Dan. Thank you very much for all the stuff you put here for us, with no BS and commercials. Using your free "bass resource book" daily as well for practice. All the best!

This was a terrific lesson. As a beginner I am finding it hardest to be confident enough to do a bass fill. It helped when I tried to simply play the 5 notes of the E minor pentatonic instead of the D root x4

Great video.im a beginner.question you couldn't have done the pentatonic scale on the (d) and (c) cause those notes are not part of the (Em) scale correct?
@OnlineBassCourses Жыл бұрын
The notes of the E Natural Minor scale are: E F# G A B C D E. E Minor Pentatonic: E G A B D E. D and C are both in the key so you can use them no problem. There are really no rules though so whatever sounds good to you!

COOL VIDEO
@scottyshepardthesmoothdeep30813 жыл бұрын
Hey Dan the man really awesome video lesson!!🙂🙂🙂💙also I was told that a person play the bass guitar with a piano or keyboard player, and that is all that's being played it doesn't matter if the bass player is playing the same notes or the same chord progression, they said the bass guitar player could just play some kinda groove or riff for the song and the piano or keyboard player could carry the chord progression????
@OnlineBassCourses3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It definitely matters that they're on the same page with the harmony. It really depends on genre and other factors but, generally, the bass player should at least be playing the same progression! Otherwise you'll get fired... You can do lots within that of course.

I really appreciate your teachings but the ads are absolutely ridiculous. They cut into the middle of the point your making.
@OnlineBassCourses Жыл бұрын
Thanks. You’ll have to take that up with KZbin though as I have precisely zero control over it, apart from switching ads off. I won’t be doing thatbecause I have to try and earn a living (I do music full time and KZbin revenue is nowhere near a salary to live on for an individual let alone someone with a family…).
@silencedones4421 Жыл бұрын
@@OnlineBassCourses absolutely understandable. KZbin used to allow it to be controlled and placed but now they are Nazis with ads. I am sure most are better bassists than I am but when it cuts to an add I am trying to play along with the video and lose focus because I have to skip an ad now. Please do not take this negative against you in any way. I am extremely appreciative of the many things I have learned from your videos. Thank you.
