'We are not here to give lessons; we are here to learn lessons'. Now, THAT sums up the one most important message humanity needs these days! Everyone is peddling some brand of 'expertise' online which often amounts to confirmation bias and every other logical fallacy, the comments sections can be an invitation to be eviscerated by anyone who does not agree with someone else and thus places then on 'knowledge trial', and the basic skill of developing judiciousness..... tragically departing. Thank you Dan! Always!

My favorite one was a cult member that I argued religion with. I said something to him about how his leader wasn’t of God. He said I should repent or I would be cursed of God. Touch not mine anointed and do my prophets no harm. I told him God does not obligate me to show respect or listen to false prophets.

I have a co worker who is super critical of me at work. And i went to the managers to tell her to slow her roll because I felt that wasn’t a boundary I could cross. And she pulled out all of her stupid “experience” over me even though I’ve been at the company for two years more than her. I’m the one who got the talking too. And she made it worse by hugging me in front of the managers to make herself look good. So thanks for this I’m gonna use the helpful advice thing on her.

@TheWizardOfWords
@TheWizardOfWords Жыл бұрын
Well it's your mom, Maia, so you might view it as I do when my mother rides me about my VERY FEW faults :). I let it slide. Only with my parents, mind you, I let it slide. Be grateful she's only SLIGHTLY disappointed. Now seriously, when she gives you helpful hints, you might say (remember, now, this is only for your mother): "Hmmmmm, I'll give that some thought, Mom." Then think about it. And most probably----forget about it. If she brings it up again, tell her you're still thinking. As you might guess, I believe mothers should be cut a huge amount of slack, provided they are coming from a loving place, as most art. Misguided, perhaps--but loving. Your mother sounds as though she wants you to be the best version of yourself, and sometimes when they think that way, they also think they know what the best version of yourself would look like. And of course--they don't. :)

That is interesting, I never thought about that before, but you are right about our family members getting the worst side of us. We do treat acquaintances better than our own family . That is sad because it's always our family members that have our backs when it comes down to needing help and nobody else cares. Family is important. The problem I have with my mom is I don't like her calling my daughter names and I don't like how she mocks my daughter and swears at her too ! My daughter is 11 and my mom can't deal with the teenage attitude. So I have distanced myself from her. We hardly communicate. My daughter does not want to go over to her house anymore on the weekends when I have to go to work. and my mom doesn't really want her over anymore . My daughter is a really good kid and I don't want her around negativity. So when I go to work on the weekends, my daughter stays home alone. I work 12 hour and 16 hour shifts on the weekends. That's a long time for her to be home alone. My mom is 71 and if anything happened to her I know I would have regrets. I want to repair the relationship, but my mom is stubborn. I'm the type of person who doesn't hold grudges. But my mom sure does. I don't foresee my mom treating my daughter any better . She has said some horrible things to my daughter . She called her the B word. Fu__ing brat , and even said , "I'm not your grandma any more ." So the relationship between my mom and I is damaged. But in an emergency I would be there for her, and in an emergency she would be there for me. The reason I work so much is because rent in Arizona is expensive! My rent is 1,400 dollars a month and that is considered cheap. I also have to pay for dance and tumbling, and my daughter is in a private Christian school so I have a monthly payment to the Christian school, that her scholarship didn't cover. Plus other bills. I don't focus on debt because that will attract more debt. I tell myself that I have plenty of money and that I am blessed financially and that I lack nothing. Miraculously with my mind set, everything gets paid and I have the strength and stamina to work 7 days a week and I never get sick. God takes care of me and blesses me and keeps my health so I can keep going and going and going. Once I am a teacher again , instead of a parapro, I should not have to work so much and I will make more money . Plus that is my hearts desire to teach elementary school. Now that I have been through your training, and I put it into practice; along with being mindful of my thoughts and realizing that I am the creator of my life through my thoughts, everything is falling into place. The universe is aligning itself and I am in harmony with it and it almost feels supernatural like I am going through a matrix while my life is unfolding and doors are opening and I never thought I would be HAPPY and EXCITED about life again .I am only choosing to have happy thoughts . if I get sad or start feeling bad I immediately change those feelings and get rid if them. I live my life like I am not missing anything and that I already have everything. I think it and so it will be. It's being mindful. I recently read that we think that we are humans with a spiritual side . But really we are mostly spiritual beings living a human existence. I got side tracked, but I do want a good relationship with my mom . ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I have been watching these videos to learn how to handle a difficult family member during the holidays. Your videos are by far the best on KZbin! I felt very prepared by Christmas, and what do you know? The bitch didn't come! But what a relaxing holiday we had. Thanks for the advice. I know it will come in handy.

@@TheWizardOfWords you made my day. I look forward to your videos and love the way you respond to a situation esp where the boss is managing the team poorly. I loved that, if they accuse me it’s also bad management just loved that and it’s so empowering

18:50 Dan'O, I'm 32 and was homeless my entire 20's trying to get out of living in my car. It wasn't drugs. It was a disability diagnosis.

@@TheWizardOfWords *breathes heavily* huh huh huh. I want to play a game... What disability do you think I was diagnosed. If you are correct I will never doubt myself in shame (again) and seek the help I need. Today I had the awareness to call the domestic violence hotline and requested counseling. I have yet to reveal my medical history but considerations are in order. My appointment is coming up, meantime. PS- Thanks, That means something coming from you. You can only fail the game if you are to chicken to reveal your scrutiny. Muahaha! Look deep into my eyes. What twisted little broken soul do you seee. 👀Avacadabra!🪄

@@TheWizardOfWords Playing with my life is the problem to begin with and I got excited. Just echoing our unspoken common sense. I wasn't going to speak up my diagnosis in actuality since bouncing off of you I realized you'd want me to get better by realizing I should respect myself more infront of people I don't know.

Dan, in your expert opinion, what do you do about people with streams of suggestions about what you should do at the weekend. Bad restaurant recommendations. Patronising day out suggestions, you know really obvious things you've done a million times. All given in a tone of utter confidence and superiority?
