As has been pointed out, if these top players are burnt out, doing exhibitions before the worlds would not help. Some treat the exhibitions as practice, but they can’t have it both ways. Imho

Yup, most players are just very shortsighted and only look as far as the next guarenteed paycheck. The thing is that so far this "Littler-effect" everyone's talking about has only lead to the top boys playing and earning more from exhibitions and sponsors. With a new broadcast deal only coming up at the end of next year, the PDC hasn't had the chance to increase the overall prize fund of the tour and incentivize the players to prioritize ranking events.

The format makes it hard to advance with the talent we have now but playing two to five days apart it's not easy to stay consistent very tough. That's why we will see the most consistent darts last 8 when they play back to back

​@@OnlineDarts The seeds going out are full time darts players, no day jobs, They only had 2 tournaments in November, then 3 weeks off. Burn out from that? lol. play less exhibitions or get fitter maybe.

I think for Anderson, it's a case his finishing can be very poor sometimes, he's always kinda been like that. Just now there are so many players who can punish that, no matter who it is they are playing. Also, some of the seeds eliminated came into this in poor form, Michael Smith and Chisnall in particular. I'm not overly surprised so many big names have gone already. There are so many players who can turn up and play brilliantly now.

I don't like set play for the world's. In a race to 3 in round 1 a player can win 3 sets 3-2 losing the other 2 sets 3-0 and advance, but in reality it's 12-9 in legs to the loser. Not for me

I prefer sets as it allows for poor starts and it allows for the player behind to get back into a match. In tennis if I won 7-6 0-6 7-6, I’d have won 14 games and lost 18. It’s the best format!!
