Searching for the MDF craft board and I haven’t been successful, can you tell me where to find it ?

Hi Valerie, MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is sold at any lumber yard or big box hardware store. Hope you have fun making a cool pendant. Thanks for your support! : )

great video! what kind of drill and burr do you recommend using to cut the MDF board? thanks so much.

You can use the drill bits on your jewelers bench and your jewelers saw to make a forming tool from MDF. If you have basic woodworking tools they’ll work too. 😀

John, how deep or thick does the MDF need to be? Btw, love those videos, and thank you for the reply to my question from a previous video.

I usually buy 1/4 inch thick MDF sheets for making dies. You can go thicker with the MDF. It will help your from hitting a flat bottom. But, be careful not to stretch the metal too far as it can crack and tear. Thanks for the compliment. And, glad that I can be of help to you in your jewelry work. Thanks for your support! : )

John, it is always nice to see your videos. I admire your work, and I have learned many tricks, as well as safety tips, which you made very enjoyable via the wig! Keep them coming, I love watching you. Just curious, how many years have you been making jewelry? Are you a Smith, or a Jeweller?

Very impressive! I fell in love with the flower vessel so much, that I went to Home Depot, got the board, copper sheet, and now, I will cut out my design. Thank you! I do not own a hydraulic press, and have no room for one! My Father is a retired Mechanical Engineer/Machinist at 94, and I got a room full of tools! You encourage me to do great things. Hello from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada :)

John, I enjoy watching your tutorials over and over again. You are entertaining and your suggestions/tips are so practical (definitely user-friendly). One question: can these dies be used in a hydraulic press? Thank you so much for sharing your jewelry-making skills. Kathleen
@OnlineJewelryAcademy8 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathleen, Yes! You can safely use these types of dies in a hydraulic press. Just be sure to wear a face shield. I do not, however, use the piece I cut out in the press. I prefer to just let the pads do their job. But, don't through out the cutouts. You can form over them in the press to create framed backgrounds for epoxy resin projects. Good luck with your projects. Thanks for your support! : )
