Got a new ultralight this week (6'9 St Croix Avid Panfish) Loaded up the fanny pack with Mule gear and hit the river to test it out. Burro bug got me a truckload of 8-12" smallies, my first black crappie of the year and my PB rocko (10 3/4"). Drifting it past submerged trees and rock piles pretty much guaranteed a fish every time. It might be the perfect ultralight river lure! Rod was dang sweet too.

@@FishAnything Fly fished another smaller river yesterday morning. Everywhere it was too tight to cast the fly, I tossed the burro bug on one of my shorter ultralight's and absofreakinlutely cleaned up on the rock bass. Between the two different set ups, I caught just about every dang fish in the river. Also, when are you coming out with a Mule fanny pack?

🎣 a nicely well job done on catching these different types species, all are fun to catch and reel in. Going to be getting a Shakespeare rod and reel combo. Something that's going to be able to handle it very big perch and bass. There's a canal I like to fish up in walnutport Pennsylvania. There are some totally big bass and perch plus big huge crappies too.

Nice work, my friend! The Z-Man Big TRD and your 1/16 Mule would absolutely hammer the big Smallies in that water on L to ML gear. We could size it down to light and a Finesse TRD and a 1/32 Mule, depending on the current and our desired drift. The importance in this scenario is exactly what you're doing (upstream casts) and/or cross current drifts from a soft spot to park the yak, just popping the bait so it sees more real estate as it drifts downstream. That stuff is my bread and butter!

What size Mule Jig are you using with that micro? I just “Mule Fished” for the first time with the Donkey Tail Jr on 1/32 and crushed 10+ mixture of Crappie, Blues, and Smallies. It was the most fun I’ve ever had fishing. Thank you!

Ethan hey I just purchase my first ultralight TFO rod with Daiwa regal 1000 reel and wanted to ask you before I put the line on. I got KastKing Fluorokote 100% fluorocarbon coated 4lb... Have you used anything similar to fluorocarbon line and what is the pros and cons...

I am not a huge fluorocarbon guy for ultralight, but that line should do just fine for you. It won't cast as far as a high quality 6lb braid or 2lb diameter line, but it will likely still work great for most applications.

I want to target Walleye someday but haven't had many opportunities thus far. Catfish is a species I have just never gotten into but I fully intend to in the future.

I use other stuff all the time, but for 90% of my ultralight fishing, I use Mule because I made it exactly for the style of fishing I do and I really believe in it. That being said, in the winter, you will often see me throw a spoon a lot. I like Acme Kastmasters. I also love a good ultralight hardbait, like Rapala Originals, Yo Zuri Pins Minows, and the whole Rebel lineup. If you ever have recommendations for lures you want me to try, just let me know!

@@FishAnything alright, I ordered some of jenko fishings stuff and I think you’d like their 1.5inch little mermaid. I dont recommend you get their jig head because they come a little heavier then it says and the hooks only come in bigger sizes but you should definitely check them out!
