Yet another gem. I actually look forward to practice time!

I like this one, but you seem to place the ball pretty far forward in your swing. Ball position for your wedge is where I have it for an 8 iron. I would probably thin the ball each time with the position you recommend. Any suggestions?.

Spot on information Steve, love the Bobby Clampett reference. Great information from a great book. Lowest point of the divot averages on being 4" beyond the ball is the key!!

Right.I'm on. (now where did I get that from?) I am fortunately able to do a full turn of my shoulders using Eurika even thoughI am in my eighties. Still hitting fat. Think my shoulders are not low enough on the downswing. My shadow proved I am not swaying. Waitng for spring before return to golf. Roy

Steve, this is very interesting. You mentioned that ball would be further forward with 7-iron compared to wedge. And ball position would be even more forward to your 4-iron. Watch the video it looks like your left foot never changes as measured against the ball line. Is that correct?

Hi Steve, Great explanation of how to determine low point. I've had a coach that told me to look at a point in front of the ball when striking but not how far in front. Tried your method today, I'm not a big hitter, and was getting clean strikes just below centre with a nice divot after the ball. Previously practice swings were like this but I was regularly duffing shots. Thanks.

Steve! In thinking about your premise of the "left armpit controls the low point in the swing," it does seem logical if the body stays centered and you don't move off the ball.

Love your videos but not following this one regarding armpit position vs low point, club, etc. Steve - general question, I’m trying to master Eureka which I subscribed to, how do these other instructional videos relate to what you teach in Eureka?

This is the area where I struggle most, trying to get my low point beyond the ball. I have tried so many drills to get this right. I probably achieve proper low point around 1% of the time.
@stevejohnstongolf Жыл бұрын
Keep trying.👏🏻👍
@blue24563 Жыл бұрын
Don’t try to get your low point after the ball. That will never work. You need to change your concept of impact. Best drill is to hit an impact bag making the club ‘stick’ to the bag with the bag not moving from its position when you hit it or the club bouncing off the bag. Just repeat that 100s of times until you get a true feel for impact. The only way to do it properly is to hit the bag with the shaft first and club head following. You’ll find your hips will be open at impact with shoulders square. The club shaft will be leaning forwards. It will feel strange but take it to the range with small swings first and you’ll gradually see it work.

@@blue24563 Thank you for your input. I have used an impact bag for years. I have used many training aids to try to improve impact. I have taken lessons from some of the best golf teachers in the US and Canada. I am still trying to break 90. Been playing for 57 years.

@@themaninthemirror7262 You’ll never improve by trying to implement mechanical thoughts. The problem with learning golf is applying and matching concept with intent. If you don’t learn to do that, it doesn’t matter how many technical changes you try to make. You will always subconsciously revert to your erroneous concept. Once you have the concept of what impact feels like, you can learn to match that concept to the intent, the technical errors in your swing will fix themselves. Technique is a by-product of matching concept and intent.

It would seem that the shorter of the club the less of an arc and as a result a steeper entry and exit at impact. So why is the divot longer on a shorter club?

You say the ball is center of your stance but it’s off your left heel?
@irishlad2326 Жыл бұрын
I have a feeling hes center on his foot plane when in eureka stance. But the camera is in parallel to ball target line, it looks off from our perspective. Now i could definitely be wrong lol

If he brought his left foot forward (square), I would assume, that the ball would be more towards center. I could be mistaken.

Completely opposite the Jack Nicklaus idea of keeping the ball in one spot for every standard shot. This is more hogan like. They both work. Personally I keep the ball position right of center for everything except hybrids and driver. Occasionally I’ll center it if I need to trap the ball More or slightly more forward if I want to get more height. To be honest I’m happy with pretty much any divot no way I’m going to ever get so dialed In as the measure divot sizes for each club.

Is there something wrong with the camera angle? As others have said, your wedge ball position looks very forward. In fact, you can barely see any difference between it and the 7i position. Your body stance looks open to the camera and the alignment sticks and then the tee box things are at another angle which is just playing havoc on my eyes.
@CallMeJackWagon Жыл бұрын
I feel like I need to take note of your ball position.. Holy smokes you're way forward of where I position the ball. I start on center for mid irons. Your 7 is almost to your heel...
