Quick note not mentioned. when bone shield charges are consumed they shatter and do damage via Shattering bone talent (this is one of your biggest damage outputs) so cooldowns that consume bones shield like Tombstones benefit from this immensely because you consume 5 of them instantly however make sure when you consume tombstone specifically you are standing in ur DnD because it will triple its damage. Also make sure you use Tombstone and Bonestorm after you've used dancing rune weapon so you get the cooldown reduction to drw. Another note is Gorefiend's grasp can also work as a small defensive. Since you're pulling all enemies, they all gain the debuff from Subduing Grasp which reduces damage taken by enemies you've pulled by 5% (not much but its not nothing)

One thing to note: dancing rune weapon creates additional weapons that ALSO mimic some abilties and the effects they create -- notably blood boil and soul reaper. When pulling a large pack, you can pop rune weapon, blood boil, and vampiric blood together, having 3 stacks of blood plague on a group of mobs provides a huge shield through Umbilicus Eternus. Time an additional blood boil to go off right at the end of dancing rune weapon to reapply 3 stacks of blood plague and maximizing uptime.

Nice guide. Just notice that you can't get stacks of bone shield by using Abomination Limb before start timer for m+. One tip: Death Grip also works as extra taunt even if you can't pull a mod.

Since the introduction of the new hero talents (especially since San'layn isn't worth playing) i need to track my Boneshield charges better. Sometimes i can't keep up the 5 Stacks. Then there are times where i have 10+ and need to use marrowrend for Exterminate because Deathbringer is coming off cooldown...

So basically it is not a rotation but a list of responsibilities: 1. Keep bone shield up using various abilities when appropriate 2. Save runic power for when needed 3. Wait to take an adequate amount of damage before using death strike or it will not heal for much 4. Use big CDs when appropriate 5. Keep mobs aggro while using dps abilities. It sounds nice more complicated than other classes maybe I won't fall asleep while playing it. A much more mindful playstyle.

DKs have a new talent that allows you to dispel harmful magical effects with AMS, which means that you do not have pre-cast it anymore when cheesing magic effects. It makes your AMS CD 20 seconds longer, so maybe blood doesn't want it?

Yo, every guide assumes that you always know when to pre-enable AMS in which fight etc. But imo starting the expansion with so many fights to remember, I would trade it with Vestigial Shell

I know that you are supposed to know when to pre AMS, but through out the expansion there have been some effects that you can't reliably pre AMS (you can't know if you're the target) so you theoritically waste your AMS. I have no idea about the specific mechanics of the new dungeons, so hard to say.

@@retu999 Yeah I agree, for me its about the mindset, we are not proactive tanks like prot, we tend to react to situations, AMS breaks that for me and I also love to have answer for everything, ex: stun?-IF, fear?-LB, root?-WW, debuff? -AMS! I've always been a dps DK who mainly plays raids and I've been praying for this effect to come back :D (It was a frost Dk artifact talent called "mirror ball" in Legion, if i remember correctly).

Soooo many damn buttons now sigh, feels like a different class now and not sure for the worse or better overall. You really have to pay attention to your bone shield charges now with the addition of bonestorm, using bonestorm and tombstone in the same pull is almost a no no unless you have dancing rune weapon up. Its pretty sad with sanlayn being pretty much unplayable when comparing it to deathbringer, as ive been playing around with it a bit in heroics using a fully loaded vamp blood build and it just doesnt do anything noticeable. Blood beast barley spawns and a good chance it spawns as the pack is nearly dead and vampiric strike does very little damage and/or healing. Such a good waste concept at this point. Remember that with the lower haste, your rune generation is a lot slower than in previous patches and seasons so make sure you take your time in using your rune spending abilities and dont be afraid to use Gorefiends as a quick "i need bone charges NOW" button. I wouldn't bother with the silence right now since the grip itself works nicely for as an interrupt stop to avoid getting giga nuked by several casters in one pull ( Im looking at you Priory) just remember grips are stops, not interrupts, so casters will start casting again after the pull. Group friendly AMS is bananas and gets over overlooked so much but with all the curses, dots and spells going on in this expac, your party members will give free shirtless hugs for it even though they wont notice, though it can go to yours and others pets since it just picks people near you not just "group members" near you.

At this point in time of recording, the reaper mark weakaura had some bugs - but it’s been fixed since. If you use use the latest string, it will have a glow reminder that the mob is in excecute range. I do think it’s worth having as a reminder (:

Most dmg done comes from blood plague, if you press desthstrike ever 6 sec . This makes the specc super stressful, but makes so much dmg. But in high keys, its prob impossible to keep it up all the time... forcot the talent for this one.. cryptic name

Since being selfsustaining is the most fun part of a tank and Blizzards braindead decission to only let DKs do this, I tried it for the first time... after 8 hours of learning, studying, trying... I start to understand the rotation and gameplay loop more and more... but how do I get ridd of my heart attacks every other gcd when health drops by 80%.... I wish I could still be selfsustaining on something I like to play like any other tank expect bear...
