In the valleys , in the mountains and by the sea , the Welsh sing not just from the heart but from the soul . It’s passed down from parents and grandparents and beyond .the yearning to sing is in all Welsh people whether they can or not . In a choir all are equal . We are a small country but when we sing together we are greater than any other . Welsh choirs will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand out , bring tears to your eyes , a lump to your throat , and joy to your heart and soul .

I am born of Welsh parents but unfortunately the gift of song has not been passed down to me. Maybe it was lost when I was born in Southampton? What I do know is that my appreciation of music is not lost nor my support for the Welsh Rugby team. I will confess to my support of Southampton FC! But then I do support the NY Yankees as well due to my childhood spent in the USA.

Welsh male voices are part of what makes this culture the supreme group that it is. Hearing one in person, not a dry eye in the house ever.....even full grown men weep. The resonation of their voices burrows deep into your heart and pit of your stomach; creates a powerful and overwhelming expression that can come to a cry. If you ever get to hear them live; do so. Experience of a lifetime.

I am Welsh - but I was brought up in Kenya. I spent my last two years at school at a college in Brecon, where the singing in Chapel was just wonderful. But this sort of singing brings tears to my eyes. I am now very old, but if I could wish for just one thing from my youth, it would be to join young lads like this in some wonderful singing. I admire those who have made this happen, and the youngsters who have enjoyed making it happen. Enjoy every moment, and every memory - when you are old, like me, you will remember every enjoyment that you gave to yourselves and to others.

How can you have an opinion when the fact is there to see? Wales, or Cymru rather, is its own country - not part of England in any way. I think its you that needs to "get a grip" and realise you're no longer in the running for Empire's, so you have no real claim to any other country and their cultures. Twll din pob Sais.

I am half Welsh and went to English schools so feel deprived of my language and heritage. In the past the English tried to suppress the language (the "Welsh Not" in schools) and many feeling shamed refused to speak it to their children. The proud old infantry regiment the South Wales Borderers (the second battalion fought Napoleon troops for the Crown in Eqypt and at Roorkes Drift in South Africa and won 5 or 6 VCs for bravery (see the film Zulu) and in WWII in France and Germany was later decommissioned by the English Government and is no more. However that beautiful language is coming back. There is Welsh media and movies are made in the old language and it is taught in schools. Some of the comments below made me feel very proud. Diolch!
