Love the roof shelf brother. Makes me want to get mine done. 😏 Curious how it would fair “with” a drawer setup. Just be weary with fire extinguisher and axe being mounted where they are though. In the unfortunate case of a wreck, those things become torpedoes. 😬

Excellent video and setup for use of the shelf. I have a similar setup from CaliRaised LED, and the storage/organization options are endless once you add the top shelf. If you add a bungee attic style organizer to it, it’s a perfect place for those smaller lighter items as well

How do you like yours? I'm trying to decide between the Cali Raised and the Finnfab...Is the lower part of the Cali Raised windows molle panel really useful? And do you have the upper shelf? The Cali Raised upper shelf looks like it's mounted higher than the Finnfab (so less storage space) and looks more flimsy too...

That's a great approach! I keep a secondary fire extinguisher in the back like you. But I also keep one in the front door pockets in case I need to grab one right away. That's an interesting location for your axe. What's the reason for putting it more toward the interior rather than at the back? Those molle panels are awesome!

How is it sleeping under the shelf? You mentioned you put your head towards the front? From the video it looks like your rear seat bottoms are removed. How do you level out that area between the laid down rear seats and the front seats when you sleep? I also remove my rear seat bottoms when we go on trips but my pillow keeps falling in that hole lol. Thanks for the video! The shelf is sick. I want one

Love the self and they stuff you are attaching to it like the med bag and axe and everything. The self is cool to but why keep all that stuff in there 24/7? I get a blanket and the tools but sleeping bags and such?

What do you think of the space allowance with the FinnFab system in place AND the platform/drawer still in place? Is all that too much for sleeping? Perhaps a platform that is not as tall?

Stay tuned :) Haha in all seriousness though I think there are alot of approaches similar to what you are saying that would actually provide the best organization but it is for a small number of people that can weekend trip/travel all the time. Hypothetically, I think a lower profile drawer system would be totally doable. Like a fridge on the left and a lower drawer on the right behind the 60% seat for a solo sleeper. The shelf hits quite high and you probably do not need a ton of space near your legs. Ultimately whatever you feel comfortable with.

Well its a good excuse to get those rear view camera fancy mirror. But I can still see fine. If anything the axe should maybe be moved if that is a concern. Since my vehicle sits higher than most cars I see car hoods through the lower glass open space anyway.

Yeah, I actually just went on a small trip before I installed it to show off the storage. The panel works awesome. That’s why I did the reveal at the very end to hopeful clarify this haha.

I don’t think the side panels are compatible so that would be tough.

I was impressed with the extrusion drawer system, but it seems like you like this better, and prefer this much more over the drawer system. Is that accurate?

Its just different and probably more universally helpful to the average 4Runner adventurer. I had an idea for a different type of system and this current setup has had almost all the features of my drawer system while still being a useful vehicle for home projects and other things I need an SUV for.

@@ableandrew No problem, yeah for full time this won't cut it. You might consider running this in addition to a full length build out of some kind. These would pair really nicely with a solo platform system.

How difficult is removal of the molle bags? I’d imagine that you’d want super fast access to the first aid kit, but if it’s all strapped into the rack, isn’t removal much slower?

Yeah, I think what I figured out was the headrest might hit at the last setting. I’ll double check this. I think it will.

@@CHARLESSBRONSON So my shelf is at the top setting and you can fully recline. You can halfway recline without adjusting the headrests, then you have to collapse them to get by the edge of the shelf but then they can be extended a bit. I don't think you would hit your head on the shelf with your head being against the headrest under the shelf but probably a tall person would.

I'm even cheaper than you. To install a rivnut, I use a bolt, and a bunch of washers. Just crank the bolt until it crushes. Yes, it takes longer but the parts are free from my junk pile.
