Buttermilk is usually used as an ingredient in baking to help make things rise better and thus end up fluffier and lighter. It also helps balance sweetness due to the acidity tang. Definitely not used as a topping but seeing you do that certainly gave me a giggle 😉

HI JAZZY! I believe buttermilk is made when heavy whipping cream gets whipped passed the whipped cream stage, almost like when you made your own butter! It’s what gets separated from the cream int butter and butter milk, so the liquid that you poured out after you whipped your butter is buttermilk ! Hope this helped love this video ❤

Omg Jazzy so I just had to come and comment that I finally got the galaxy chocolate bars that my sister found for me. She sent me these flavors: smooth caramel, cookie crumble, smooth milk, salted caramel, mint, ripple and then these minstrels and counters. I just gotta say they are sooo good. I haven't tried them all yet but the ones I have tried are just absolutely delicious. Thank you for making me aware of these delightful bars!

Since I'm from a different country, I had no idea about the sprouts, chestnuts, bacon/pork/bruchetta until a few years ago when I saw either Jamie Oliver or Nigella Lawson on TV doing their variant of the dish. I got curious, tried it myself and kind of liked it, though I otherwise never had ate Brussel sprouts. For my lonely pre-Christmas dinner on Saturday, I'm considering a variant with sprouts, chestnuts and red onion, either served with fried sausage (!) or if I want to make it more festive, wienerschitzel! I think the latter one might turn out quite well even without the bacon.

Maybe they use buttermilk in baking because the tartness helps activate the baking soda, as well as adding flavor.

I always roast my sprouts now, cut them in half toss in oil in an oven proof dish, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and a few hearts, sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese on place in oven for about 20 mins then take out and sprinkle more Parmesan on ready to serve 😃

Hey Jazz, the thing you mentioned about the middle of a parsnip is actually the water tube that takes water through the parsnip (it’s the same with carrots) so it’s usually full of water which is why it would take so long to cook! Merry Xmas to you and Nick

late to the party, but keep the cordial bottle, spray it with the spray paint for frosting windows, stick some of the coloured wire bottle lights in it and you have a reusable christmas tree decoration for years to come. bonus if you stick little stick on gems to mimic baubles. thats what i did with a load of that brand of bottle this year.

As I’ve seen in some of the other comments, some people used to drink buttermilk straight. Possibly for stomach issues, at least according to an old sitcom. Maybe like people now drink kefir for the probiotics.

One bit of advice, use a smaller chef knife or a paring knife when cutting something in your hand, you have less of a chance of cutting yourself, trust me I've done it several times in my 15 + years as a chef. On a happier note I really enjoy your videos they have helped me get through a tough few years. Thanks
