When your content receives a sudden flood of criticism from long-time fans, it is expected to respond and at least acknowledge the concerns. Most of those people including myself are genuinely concerned for Ross and the future of his channel. It’s not random hate being spewed. By addressing the issues in the video, it shows him that something can be improved and thus promotes the longevity of the channel. Furthermore, many of us subscribed for the wholesome harmless pranks/jokes from the og days like “returning birdseed because the birds wouldn’t grow” not “bait-and-switching homeless people and laughing at them” so if the channel steers from that, it can only be expected that many fans will unsubscribe.
