Only Idiots drive the Nürburgring in November! BMW 328i

Onboard wet lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife, drifting every corner I can in my fully-kitted BMW E36 328i ringtool. This BMW is running full Nitron suspension, and a very angry LSD that makes way too much noise.
Sometimes I use the wet lines, sometimes I use the drift lines. If you want to see a safer, more controlled Nurburgring Nordschleife wet lap - then please check the rest of my channel!

F Humphrey If you knew anything about the Nismo you'd know it has a clutch kit on it, so it's not the same as a standard. All Nismo does is screw up the Nissan Sports cars.

Who wouldn't like this video? Best example of car control you're likely to see outside of a WRC event. The driver knows the course and knows the car. I thought he had lost it a couple of times, but he kept it on the track. I liked his comment about the racing line being slick, and off-line there was more grip. Why didn't he just drive off-line the whole lap? Also what tires were on the car, and what was the ambient temperature?

He was out to do some bigger skidz of course :D Grip is optional and he chose to slide around and have fun instead, seriously tho, I drove in the pouring rain and cold once, I have never driven any track like it for grip when wet, insanely slick, almost like snow levels of grip in some places.

Yes, when I'm on a track that has a worn racing line, I drive the corners "inside-out". I go in a car-width inside the braking zone, drive straight across the dry line, and rim-ride the outside of the pavement. The whole exercise is to maximize the amount of time that I am driving on unworn pavement that has "tooth". Generally it's good to avoid shiny pavement.

***** For sure, but somehow the ring was extra slippery, I spent the week there doing a course and had options to go on the GP or the Ring, it was actually so bad on occasion over the week we went out to do some drifts and messing around on the GP track instead, car preservation and all that, your luck can only last so long mentality eh :D

Tires were Federal 595 RSR and it was +3 degrees celsius. So not the best conditions for an UHP tire as you saw in the video😂

Nearly had a heart attack several times through out the lap at the expectation of hydroplaning. lol Don't think I'd risk keeping decent pace in the wet like that.

The whining noise is due to straight cut gears in the gearbox (c.f helical in normal cars). You're all welome.

I drove a lot under these surcomstances at my home track Zandvoort. But on the Nordschleife is another piece of cake :) Once I had rain in the Fuchsröhre and Sunny wheather at the Döttinger Höhe. That was in the time you started your lap between the two connections with the GP Strecke.

That's the best way to enjoy the Ring! It's so vacant...you just need to concentrate on the track...almost no mirror view at all. And totally opposite to a sunny tourist drive weekend. My last wet drive on the Ring was on the 3 dez. 2011 sooo long ago, but still in my head...it was one of the best days on the ring! STR

Scary combination of understeer (no grip at the front) and oversteer (no grip at the back) seemingly at the same time! Nice driving. You need the steering wheel flash to tell you when you are pointing straight ahead.

Doing an average of 98.22 kph (61.03 mph) while pulling way less than 1 g in the corners and risking a HUGE accident (regardless to driver skill and car quality - think twice about going (sort of) fast on the straights in the wet) is not my idea of fun, but congratulations for making it without a crash. :-)

That's crazy. The variation in grip is what makes it so tricky, most people watching will have no idea just how hard it is to do a lap like that. They are the ones that will end up in the armco, if they're ever brave enough to try.

A friend of mine also races on the Nordschleife. He's got a BMW 328i too (Single Turbo conversion ~720 HP). You can find him there in the summer season, it's a rather dark blue 328i with a mid-sized rear wing and completely stripped down interior :)

+Ko-wing wong Driving in the winter is one thing, driving a powerfull RWD on a soaking wet Nordschleife is another. It's a whole different ballgame.

+Ko-wing wong This is normal driving in the UK, that's why we find it easy to drive this track, the track is so wide. Nordschleife has much more grip than you think, no pot-holes and no police chasing you and trying to impound your car. I find Spa harder to drift in cold and wet conditions.
