@@courier6739, Literally all pump action shotguns are like that, you missed the point of the video entirely. The point of the video, was that there is no shotgun round in the chamber upon reload, meaning you either have to wrap the shotgun, or put around in the chamber, otherwise it doesn't f****** fire. Doesn't matter for talking about spass, a Mossberg 500, Remington 870, doesn't matter if it's a Benelli m4, hell it doesn't even matter if it's a pump action, because the same thing applies to semi-auto shotguns, the AA-12, and lever action shotguns. As a SPAS-12 owner myself, yeah, MW2 Remastered is the only Call of Duty with a fully accurate reload. Not only that, but they also reload the shotgun the way I prefer, which is holding the shotgun in my offhand, pressing into the bolt release with my support fingers, and loading shells with my strong hand. That's because if I get interrupted, I quickly reacquire a grip on the gun with my strong hand and fire, as opposed to flipping the shotgun back to my support hand, then reacquiring a firing grip if I flipped the shotgun onto my strong hand. I will say Cold War's SPAS-12 model looks the best (MWIII's SPAS-12 is another one of those airsoft, Chinese-knockoff models due to California law, and the MW2 Remastered SPAS-12 is faithful to the original which has an inaccurate picatinny rail on the top as well as being too thin). MWIII also does get some brownie points from me for depicting the mode switching accurately, and even having different sound effects to account for the bolt cycling in semi-auto (that's where the iconic "ping" sound comes from) that wouldn't be there in pump. So the ideal Call of Duty SPAS-12 would be Cold War's model with MW2 Remastered's reload animations and MWIII's mode switching and sound effects.

I don't think people understand how COD approaches weapons in their games now. They're not *trying* to replicate guns realistically, they're making their own *fictional* guns, heavily inspired by ones from real life, so they can have some more artistic freedom and also not have to worry about copyright. That's why weapons like the Reclaimer in MWIII are so much different from the real SPAS-12 from a design standpoint. It's not trying to be exactly like a SPAS-12, it's trying to be the COD Universe's *equivalent* of a SPAS-12.

@gameragodzilla
@gameragodzilla 3 ай бұрын
You can actually see the bolt lock back very briefly in semi-auto, then immediately jump forward (almost like there's frames missing) to go back into the pump reload animation. Not only that, but the last shell ejects in semi-auto, only for another empty shell to eject when it does the reload in pump again. I'm almost under the impression that this was a bug, and there was supposed to be a semi-auto specific reload animation that glitched and ended up playing the pump mode reload instead. But then again, given this is MWIII, it's also probably just Activision Blizzard not giving SHG enough time to properly animate it.

It has the controls of both a pump and auto shotgun at the same time, so nearly twice the buttons. You may think a pump shotgun and semi-auto shotgun would mostly share controls, but they actually don't. Only the trigger, safety, and tube loading would be similar, and even then, the SPAS-12 is an older semi-auto where you have to hold down the bolt release to load (a lot of older semi-auto shotguns functioned this way, but this was resolved with newer designs that came in the mid to late 1980's). Once you understand which button corresponds with which, it's really not that difficult as long as you've fired both types of shotguns at some point in your life, but it will be buttfucking confusing at first due to the sheer number of controls.

the reason cod "gets guns wrong" is for 2 reasons 1. Gameplay consistency, the point is not to make a gun simulator, it's to make guns that make sense within the game's sandbox 2. Licensing. They need to change the guns slightly nowadays to avoid getting sued by gun manufacturers, which is also why they use fake names. the devs know what they're doing, they probably know about all the shit people point out, but that's just not the point of cod. if a game like squad or ready or not gets a gun wrong, that's an issue that they'd release an update for, because that's part of the game, but cod is a yearly multiplayer arcade shooter, nothing more, nothing less.

Don’t wanna ruin the fun, but technically the mw2 remastered reload is not completely accurate, the operator would never be pumping the shotgun. The spas 12 has the ability to fire semi automatic and pump action, but the pump action feature was only added to the real thing so that breaching rounds, which had a lower powder load and couldn’t cycle the gun, could manually be rechambered. There are two things I can't stand about guns in video games, and it's not just CoD: Firstly, when you use a pump shotgun, there is no need to pump the action other than going straight back and keeping the gun shouldered. Secondly, bolt action rifles. Why is there a need to get off the scope (out of ADS) when cycling the action? This might be a bit justified since there are guns with long action bolts and guns that have bolt handles sticking straight out (think the Mosin Nagant and the 1898 Mauser). With a long action, you may need to get your face out of the way, necessitating you get off the sights at least. With a straight out bolt handle, you may not have the leverage to unlock the action and extract the spent case, so you might need to lower the gun where you can do it. This does not justify things in most cases. Even in hunting, it is recommended that the action is cycled immediately after every shot because there might be a need to get the gun to bear again (like in the case of one shot did not kill that dear or the need to take down a charging animal). If you say "balance," well, they balance the automatic guns just fine. The true speed of a bolt action depends in haste depends on the length of the action, bolt throw, and a few subtle things, so there are still small differences between them so there is no actual need to add superfluous movements.
@calebwilliams5819

The bolt thing is for gameplay reasons.. if people could stay looking down the sights they would abuse it's also why we hardly ever get a decent semi automatic sniper rifle.
@TheOz91
@TheOz91 3 ай бұрын
@@calebwilliams5819 I disagree. Games like Red Orchestra and then Rising Storm 2 have great bolt action mechanics. The later Sniper Ghost Warrior also keeps ADS with bolt rifles. The balance here is that using bolt guns would mean a much longer time between shots compared to having a semi auto; a bolt action is slower than a pump and a lever action. There is also that the gun would move when the action is being worked. Do it right, then semi autos would still be preferred, mainly for follow up shots. And some would prefer bolt actions a bit better accuracy.

I think Spas 12 is a cool shotgun but with VERY COMPLICATED ways of reloading the gun, like Striker with its crank lever.
@jared.p240
@jared.p240 3 ай бұрын
It's actually simple. You reload it like any other tube-fed self-loading shotgun. 1. Gun runs dry, therefore breech block locks open 2. Insert shell into the ejection port and press the breech block release to chamber the shell 3. Load more shells into the tube via the loading gate The SPAS-12 just has the additional step of holding down the breech block release in order to open the loading gate

@@neemojenkins881 Just one. The button on the left hand side of the gun is the breech block release and that's the one you must hold down in order to load shells. It might not be necessary to hold down the release button during the loading process... Just smack it and you probably could load it with ease. 0:46 funny clipping hand through the stock. Not so realistic anyways. Should'ved depicted with a solid, skeletal or unfolded(namely removed) stock but AAA devs don't give a shit about clipping in their games.

Without even watching the video, lemme guess, 2019's MW? Because it's the single best Call of Duty ever made and before Cold War and CoD HQ ruined it, the damn game was nigh-flawless. Edit: Now I'm very curious to see if it did indeed get that detail right also. Was there even a Spas in that game? If there was, I am 200% positive that Hyper did it justice.

Honestly what the hell with all of that MW2019 fanboyism? First of all, you write this without even remembering if MW2019 has a SPAS-12 or no, and in reality, no, MW2019 doesn't even have a SPAS-12 so your comment gets completely rekt by that single fact only. Secondly, Hyper isn't the only animator at IW so if the weapon existed in the game the animations for it could've been made by anyone. And third, as much as impressive MW2019 looks with it's indeed good graphics and with it's excessive screen shaking and the Parkinson's reloads, no, it's not the best CoD ever, it has nowhere near the fun older titles had. People think MW2019 is the best because of it's fake realism, all it has is just spectacular visuals to appeal the players.

@@FerrariF1Seb05Fan That's some serious anger you have there, my friend. Show me on the doll where 2019 touched/hurt you. Yeah, no shit IW has more than one animator, ya fuckin' spaz (see "Spaz" as in Spastic, not "Spas" as in Spas 12). And yes, the game I last played in 2021 indeed does contain finer elements that can slip my mind. So I admit, I misremembered based on a pretty well-founded bias that this game had very, very impressive attention to detail and a good degree of research into the real-life firearms that the weapon roster was based on. And nah, while nothing beats the nostalgia of classic CoD, this and the Black Ops games came mighty close. Tons of fond memories playing BO3 online. Plenty of (albeit hazy) memories playing CoD4 too.

@takoshihitsamaru4675 m8 I'm not angry, I just can't understand the blind fanboyism that people have towards MW2019. Like sure it was a step up of quality, at least visually, but until there. Reloads are just too fast and unnatural to tell them 'realistic', while sure, for gameplay reasons they do fit the fast paced gameplay of CoD which I don't argue. As I said, MW2019 is all about just visuals. Most people playing it have in mind about how awesome the game looks, how 'awesome' the reloads look and how awesome the excessive camera shaking is. And about gameplay, honestly, no, it doesn't get close to classic CoD, like the only modern CoD (since MW2019) that gets kinda closer to old titles gameplay wise is Cold War. And before you call me nostalgic, I was playing old titles till some time ago that I decided to give up any FPS or generally any game with violence. Also answer me this, since you supposedly know that IW doesn't have only Hyper as an animator, how you're 100% sure Hyper would do SPAS-12 if it was to be added in the game?

does it really matter? this isnt a game trying to be realistic, and animation isn't easy. its not harming the quality of the game or the players experience if the gun isnt reloaded properly, if its a stratifying animation that pleases the eyes and ears than it did its job. yes it COULD be accurate but being accurate isnt important, its the FEEL of the animation. also yes it is reused animations, its more efficient in game development to reuse as many assets as possible while still being new content, like blueprint weapons or new guns reusing old/modified animations this isnt what we should be worrying about or even caring when it comes to COD.

Idunoo where to go with this as I have a sort of unique perspective on this as an Animator its hard to articulate my feelings through a KZbin comment All I’m saying is, I’m peeved at videos be comments that provide mostly destructive criticism. I’d look for his videos on one of the new LMGs and a Beta animation that was left in game on accident. You’ll see what I’m talking about

@@altronbee1216 From, well, multiple personal observations, these people usually, well, *DON'T* make games, therefore, have no idea on how much work goes into and is needed into them. Like, there's a video that points this out in a rather comical manner (i.e. extremely oversimplified and inaccurate depiction of FPS making (import FPS game and graphics switches being options)).
@venommagnus
@venommagnus 3 ай бұрын
@@altronbee1216 Ah yes, the video where I called out SHG for adding a genuinely unique firearm to the game only to remove what makes said firearm unique in the first place. Like I've expressed many times before, there's no point in adding unique weapons if you are going to take away what makes that weapon unique, you're better off adding a different weapon entirely. And like I've also expressed many times before, allowing a blockout animation (the first stage of the animation process by the way) to be seen in a *open beta* that is *three weeks* away from the final release is not a good look no matter who you are. I always find it funny when these kind of comments are left on here when people like Munancho inc. are much more harsher on these games than I am. It's also worth noting that the MW reboot is the same sub-series that prided itself in attention to detail regarding the weapons with MW2019, only for MWII and III to suddenly toss that direction out of the window. Of course I'm going to complain when a franchise drifts off an established direction for the worse, I've seen it happen to my favorite franchises before (paging Dead Rising when the fourth game released). I had my complaints about MW2019 but the direction they took with the weapons was a huge positive and is something that should be celebrated, some FPS games can benefit from attention to detail more than you think, especially for players who like guns but live in counties with extremely strict gun laws. It may not impact the gameplay but it sure does make the game feel more immersive and alive.
