The beard thing isn't really a comparison but the hat I would have to agree with. Many men have middle aged balding and a lot can't accept it and wear hats. I would say that is the only comparison to makeup that made sense. But using someone's natural hair as a representation of covering up your appearance is pretty farfetched in my book. I would say a hat on a man is equivalent to hair extensions or a wig on a women because its usually used to hid balding. If your a man and your balding just go on a date with your hat off its not like your going to be able to hide it forever. I would honestly prefer women didn't wear makeup on a first date so I know what I'm getting into as well. Just be yourself wear a casual formal outfit and smell nice is really the only requirement you need for a date.

You don't understand what women actually want. Contrary to popular belief, women do not want a 'good man'. What women want is to spend their youth gaining sexual access to attractive men because they can, and then at a later point, find a man to settle down with who is, at least ideally, also an attractive man. Women aren't lowering themselves to promiscuity despite being opposed to it and wanting a 'real relationship'. Women are not being led astray by 'hookup culture' and social media. A fat person will absolutely tell you to your face that they 'want to be healthy' and then immediately order a triple layer chocolate cake and eat the whole thing. This person... is lying to you. What they want is to eat cake, and because of that, they eat cake. Women are not, and never have been, 'just looking for a good guy'. The only point in history where monogamy and chastity was the norm was when women were socially punished for not being monogamous and chaste. You can force that fat guy onto the treadmill and force him onto a diet, but don't confuse the weight loss that occurs with him having discipline or wanting to be healthy. Without the force, he will immediately go back to being a fat, lazy slob eating cake because that is his true nature. Promiscuity is a woman's true nature; not monogamy nor looking for a 'really good guy in the future'. That is just the social virtue signaling women tell you, not their actual desires. Their actual desires are sex with attractive men, and secondarily, commitment from attractive men; the last thing any woman cares about is what a man looks for in a potential spouse. Thinking these women are naïve confused souls who just don't know any better, is the equivalent of thinking that a fat guy just doesn't have any idea how unhealthy chocolate cake is and only needs some nutritional education to realize that vegetables are a thing.
