Oh jacob..one of my favourites..his voice is incredible...cant get over how amazing he is...can sing anything. The band was awesome too

++ theman328088 I can't figure out why I can't take to Jacob Lusk's singing. He has got an extraordinary voice, and he seems like a really pleasant guy. Perhaps it's the highly ornate gospel style of singing that is over the top for me with lots of grace notes and runs; perhaps it's the way his voice changes so much in the different registers. However, he certainly is a dynamic singer with a huge range, and I wish him the best even though his music just doesn't do it for me.

+theman328088 Still thinking about Jacob. I suspect what I miss in his voice is Blues. Some strands of Gospel are very bluesy - Mahalia Jackson being the prime example. Other strands seem to have moved away from that. A sinilar thing happened in Soul. Ray Charles' singing was Blues-laden. The likes of Nina Simone, Etta James and Aretha Franklin generally have turns of phrase and ornament that are different from the Blues. Jacob seldom sounds bluesy. I guess that's a lot to do with why I don't enjoy his singing although I appreciate that he has a remarkable voice. More recently, there's a similar, significant difference between Haley Reinhart and Morgan James, both superb singers. Morgan is a huge admirer of Nina Simone, and it comes out in her phrasing and ornaments - Soul not Blues. Haley, in contrast, is much more bluesy in her phrasing and ornamentation. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but my own preference is for that Blues touch that comes across so much in Haley's singing.

Quinton Ziegler, the trombonist, is also a piano-player, and a very fine one, probably a better pianist than trombonist. He's on piano on a number of tracks with Haley Reinhart and Casey, and with the Gingerbread Band.

I'm not a great lover of Jacob's singing as I think he often greatly overdoes the runs and embellishments. However, he does this very well although the song itself would never be a favourite of mine. Certainly a real Gospel flavour throughout. It's nice to think these guys from 2011 Idol are still connecting. I know Haley talked about it as a kind of family feeling that grew between them as the show progressed. Pia gave Haley credit for herself and Stefano singing with PMJ. There's a track on Y Tube of the two of them doing a duet with PMJ, and good it is too.
